Tropical cyclone(TC)-related rainfall mostly depends on th. atmosph.ric moisture uptake from local and remote *** th.s study,th. mean water vapour residence time(MWVRT)was computed for precipitation related to TCs in each.basin and on a global scale by applying a Lagrangian moisture source diagnostic *** to our results,th. h.gh.st MWVRT was found for th. TCs over th. South.Indian Ocean and South.Pacific Ocean basins(~3.08 days),followed by th. Western North.Pacific Ocean,Central and East North.Pacific Ocean,North.Indian Ocean,and North.Atlantic Ocean basins(wh.ch.exh.bited values of 2.98,2.94,2.85,and 2.72 days,respectively).We also found a statistically significant(ph.decade in th. North.Indian Ocean and~1.0 h.decade in th. remaining *** average,th. MWVRT decreased during th. 24 h.before TCs made landfall,and th. atmosph.ric parcels precipitated faster after evaporation wh.n TCs moved over land th.n over th. *** research.sh.uld focus on th. relationsh.p between global warming and MWVRT of atmosph.ric parcels th.t precipitate over TC positions.

Diabetes mellitus control in Mexico is practiced by using antidiabetic agents and, by empirical way using medicinal plants. Cucurbita ficifolia (C. ficifolia) h.s been attributed with.h.poglycemic, h.potriglyceridemic, and anti-inflam- matory effects, and D-ch.ro-inositol (DCI), 4-h.droxybenzoic acid, and β-sitosterol were proposed as active principles. Th. last two compounds were suggested as activators of two transcription factors, PPARα and PPARγ, in C2C12 myocytes, wh.ch.participate in β-oxidation of fatty acids and insulin sensitivity. h.wever, th. involvement of th. h.patocytic and adipocytic PPARs in th. effects of C. ficifolia h.s not yet been explored. Th.s research.aimed to determine th. effects of C. ficifolia on PPARα, PPARγ, and inflammatory cytokines in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes mice, h.pG2 h.patocytes and 3T3-L1 adipocytes, implicating two additional cell types associated with.metabolism of carboh.drates and lipids. STZ-induced diabetes mice received C. ficifolia (200 mg/kg/day) for 30 days, measuring serum cytokines (TNF-α and IL-6). RNA was extracted from liver. Besides, h.pG2 and 3T3-L1 cells were incubated (24 h. with.C. ficifolia (0.078 mM DCI), using pioglitazone or fenofibrate as controls. RNA was also extracted from cells and PCR in real-time was performed to determinate PPARα and PPARγ expression. In diabetic animals, C. ficifolia decreased glycemia and body weigh., decreasing th. expression level of TNF-α and IL-6. In addition, C. ficifolia increased PPARα expression in liver of diabetic animals, in h.pG2 and 3T3-L1 cells;PPARγ expression only significantly increased in h.pG2 cells. Th. data suggest th.t th. effects on th. glycemia and lipids of C. ficifolia and its anti-inflammatory effects imply, besides skeletal muscle cells, h.patic and adipocytic PPARα activation, with.ut affectation on PPARγ. Th. present study was carried out between May and June 2012 in th. city of Cuernavaca, Mexico. During th.s time th. average ambient temperatures were about 25°C, suggesting th. formation of secondary aerosols, consisting mainly of ammonium and sulfate. Th. average PM2.5 concentration was 37 μg·m-3 for th. entire urban area and th.re were only two days wh.ch.exceeded th. limit establish.d by th. official standards for periods of 24 h. Th. most abundant ionic species associated with.PM2.5 were sulfates (3634.82 ng·m-3, average) and ammonium (1709.53 ng·m-3, average). Th. ratio estimated between total anions and total cations indicated th.t th. concentration of total anions was 1.94 times total cations. Th. contribution percentage of th. ionic species associated with.PM2.5 revealed th.t 76% of th. PM2.5 is sulfates and ammonium. Th. ion balance made for th. urban area of Cuernavaca indicated th.t during th. study period, th. aerosols sh.wed alkaline ch.racteristics;th.t is to say th. concentration of anions was not sufficient to neutralize th. cations, specifically ammonia (m = 0.060). Finally, wind fields sh.wed th.t during th. study th. winds came in 50% from th. south.west, followed by 25% from east and 12.5% of th. south.east, wh.ch.in part allowed transport of contaminants into th. portion of th. city, wh.re th. AUSM campus site was located.
