Improving th. utility of locally differentially private protocols for longitudinal and multidimensional frequency estimates

Th.s paper investigates th. problem of collecting multidimensional data th.ough.ut time(i.e.,longitudinal studies)for th. fundamental task of frequency estimation under Local Differential Privacy(LDP)*** to frequency estimation of a single attribute,th. multidimensional aspect demands particular attention to th. privacy ***,wh.n collecting user statistics longitudinally,privacy progressively ***,th.“multiple”settings in combination(i.e.,many attributes and several collections th.ough.ut time)impose several ch.llenges,for wh.ch.th.s paper proposes th. first solution for frequency estimates under *** tackle th.se issues,we extend th. analysis of th.ee state-of-th.-art LDP protocols(Generalized Randomized Response–GRR,Optimized Unary Encoding–OUE,and Symmetric Unary Encoding–SUE)for both.longitudinal and multidimensional data *** th. known literature uses OUE and SUE for two rounds of sanitization(***),i.e.,L-OUE and L-SUE,respectively,we analytically and experimentally sh.w th.t starting with.OUE and th.n with.SUE provides h.gh.r data utility(i.e.,L-OSUE).also,for attributes with.small domain sizes,we propose Longitudinal GRR(L-GRR),wh.ch.provides h.gh.r utility th.n th. oth.r protocols based on unary ***,we also propose a new solution named Adaptive LDP for LOngitudinal and Multidimensional FREquency Estimates(alLOMFREE),wh.ch.randomly samples a single attribute to be sent with.th. wh.le privacy budget and adaptively selects th. optimal protocol,i.e.,eith.r L-GRR or *** sh.wn in th. results,alLOMFREE consistently and considerably outperforms th. state-of-th.-art L-SUE and L-OUE protocols in th. quality of th. frequency estimates.

Ragah.ma Formation comprises a siliciclastic continental deposits followed by marine carbonates, representing prograding alluvial fans from adjacent h.gh.h.nterlands seaward into lagoons and fringing reef environments. Th. present work aimed to document th. facies development and sedimentology of th. Ragh.ma carbonates exposed along th. eastern coastal plain of th. Red Sea, north.estern Saudi Arabia. Four stratigraph.c sections were measured and sampled(D1–D4) and th.n sections and major and trace element analyses were prepared and applied for petrograph.c and geoch.mical approach.s. Th. carbonates were subdivided into th.ee successive fore-reef, reef-core, and back-reef depositional facies. Sandy stromatolitic boundstone, microbial laminites, dolomitic ooidal grainstone, bioclastic coralline algal wackestone, sandy bioclastic wackestone, and coral boundstones were th. reported microfacies types. Petrograph.c analysis reveals th.t th. studied carbonates were affected by dissolution, dolomitization, and aggrading recrystallization, wh.ch.affects both.th. original micrite matrix and grains or acts as fracture and veinlet filling leading to widespread vuggy and moldic porosity. No evidence of ph.sical compaction, suggesting rapid lith.fication and recrystallization during early diagenesis and prior to substantial burial and intensive flush.ng by meteoric waters. Most of th. original microstructure of corals were leach.d and destructed. Th.s is indicated by th. h.gh.r depletion in Sr and Ca levels and increase in Mg,Na, Fe, and Mn levels, especially in section D1, in comparison with.th. worldwide carbonates.

Neuroendocrine tumors of th. ovary tumors are little known and infrequent. Th.y are made up of cells appearing in th. endocrine and nervous systems. Th.se tumors are rare, but most of th.m are very aggressive, especially wh.n th.y are diagnosed beyond FIGO Stage I. Th. distinction among th. different subtypes is difficult and requires efficient tech.iques. Symptoms of neuroendocrine tumors are often nonspecific (redness in th. face, diarrh.a, asth.a, abdominal pain and etc.,) and confused with.more common diseases. Misdiagnosis is often asked: menopause or irritable bowel syndrome. Often th. correct diagnosis is not made until years after th. onset of symptoms. Th. relative rarity of th.se diseases and th. lack of specificity of th. symptoms make th.m often be diagnosed several years after onset. Fortunately, science h.s made significant advances in th. diagnosis and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors. We report th. case of a woman of 54 years, with.abdominopelvic mass, in wh.m abdominal ultrasound revealed a mass avascular tissue Doppler taking th. screen. Th. abdominopelvic CT sh.wed a large cystic mass solido—abdominopelvic wh.se origin is difficult to determine. Th. patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy. Anapath.th. results of th. righ. ovary were in favor of a well-differentiated neuroendocrine lesion.

Comparative ch.mical sensor for detection of ch.omium(VI) in aqueous solution

A process for purifying aqueous solutions containing h.avy and toxic metals such.as ch.omium h.s been investigated. One of th. extremely h.rmful pollutants in rivers and seawater are th. h.avy metal ions due to th.ir direct impact on h.man， animals and plants are h.xavalent ch.omium Cr （VI）. Consequently， h.gh.y sensitive sensor to detect Ch.omium is essential. Surface Plasmon resonance （SPR） tech.ique h.s attracted h.ge research.interest in detecting h.avy metals specifically. In th.s study， th.ee types of prism-based SPR sensor; gold （Au）/silver （Ag）， Au/polyaniline （PANI） and Au/ titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanostructured films are investigated as potential sensing material to detect th. presence of Cr （VI） ions in water. Th. base Au layer with.th.ckness of 48.3 nm is deposited on a glass slide for all sensors. For Au/Ag， Au/PANI nanofibers and Au/ (TiO2) sensor films， th. Cr （VI） concentration is varied from 1 to 15 ppm with.sensitivity of 0.270 o ppm-1， 0.082o ppm-1and 0.039 o ppm-1 respectively. Based on th.se results， th. Au/ PANI nanofibers are th. most sensitive to ch.omium Cr （VI） among tested sensing materials.

Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

Assessment of plant diversity of endemic species of th. Sah.ro-Arabian region in Egypt

Savanna, semi-deserts, and h.t deserts ch.racterize th. Sah.ro-Arabian region, wh.ch.includes Morocco, Mauretania, algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bah.ain, th. United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, south.rn Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afgh.nistan, Pakistan, and north.rn India. Its neigh.oring regions, th. Sudano-Zambezian region belonging to th. Paleotropical Kingdom and th. Mediterranean and Irano-Turanian regions included in th. h.larctic Kingdom, sh.re a large portion of th.ir flora with.th. Sah.ro-Arabian region. Despite th. widespread acknowledgment of th. region's global importance for plant diversity, an up to date list of th. Sah.ro-Arabian endemics is still unavailable. Th. available data are frequently insufficient or out of date at both.th. wh.le global and th. national scales. Th.refore, th. present study aims at screening and verifying th. Sah.ro-Arabian endemic plants and determining th. ph.togeograph.cal distribution of th.se taxa in th. Egyptian flora. h.nce, a preliminary list of 429 Sah.ro-Arabian endemic plants in Egypt was compiled from th. available literature. Indeed, by excluding th. species th.t were recorded in any countries or regions outside th. Sah.ro-Arabian region based on different literature, database reviews, and websites, th. present study h.s reduced th.s number to 126 taxa belonging to 87 genera and 37 families. Regarding th. national geograph.c distribution, South.Sinai is th. rich.st region with.83 endemic species compared with.oth.r eigh. ph.togeograph.c regions in Egypt, followed by th. Isth.ic Desert(th. middle of Sinai Peninsula, 53 taxa). Sah.ra regional subzone(SS1) distributes all th. 126 endemic species, Arabian regional subzone(SS2) owns 79 taxa, and Nubo-Sindian subzone(SS3) distributes only 14 endemics.
