This paper presents the plasma polymerization of poly（hexafluorobutyl acrylate）（PhFBA） thin films on different substrates in an RF plasma reactor with an outer planar electrode. This reactor configuration allows？large area uniformity and fast processing times. Deposition rates of up to60 nm min-1were observed. The influence？of plasma power and substrate temperature on the？deposition rate, structure and wettability of the as-deposited films was？investigated. It was observed that better hydrophobicity was obtained at high plasma power and in low temperature conditions. PhFBA thin films deposited on electrospun poly（acrylonitrile） fiber mats under such conditions resulted in superhydrophobic surfaces with？contact angle values greater than 150°.In？vitro cell studies using human epithelial cells demonstrated the non-toxic nature of the？plasma-polymerized PhFBA films.

In this paper, analytical result of avian-human influenza epidemic model has been inves- tigated by applying homotopy analysis method （hAM） and by expanding it to hybrid numeric-analytic method which is known as multistage hAM （MShAM）. hAM is an algorithm which gives us the approximate solution of the problem in an arrangement of time interims and by modifying it to multistage one. Some advantages such as flexibility of picking the auxiliary linear operator and the auxiliary parameter are emerged, that leads us to achieve some excellent results in this work. Furthermore, in this analyti- cal work, obtained results are compared and reported with numerical ones which were obtained previously from methods such as the Runge-Kutta （RK4） method.

In this paper, by introducing a proper transformation, the （Gr/G）-expansion method is further extended into the nonlinear reaction diffusion equations in mathematical biology whose balancing numbers may be negative integer. As a result, hyperbolic function solutions and trigonometric function solutions with free parameters are obtained. When the parameters are taken as special values the solitary wave solutions and the periodic wave solutions are also derived from the traveling wave solutions. Moreover, it is observed that the suggested techniques is compatible of such problems.

Cytochrome P450s(CYPs)are ubiquitously found in all kingdoms of life,playing important role in various biosynthetic pathways as well as degradative pathways;accordingly find applications in a vast variety of areas from organic synthesis and drug metabolite production to modification of biomaterials and ***,CYPs catalyze chemically challenging CAh and CAC activation reactions using a reactive high-valent iron-oxo intermediate generated upon dioxygen activation at their heme center,while the other oxygen atom is reduced to the level of water by electrons provided through a reductase partner ***-sufficient CYPs,encoding their heme domain and reductase protein in a single polypeptide,facilitate increased catalytic efficiency and render a less complicated system to work *** self-sufficient CYP enzyme from CYP102A family(CYP102A1,BM3)is among the earliest and most-investigated model enzymes for mechanistic and structural studies as well as for biotechnological *** increasing number of self-sufficient CYPs from the same CYP102 family and from other families have also been reported in last *** this review,we introduce chemistry and biology of CYPs,followed by an overview of the characteristics of self-sufficient CYPs and representative *** engineering efforts leading to novel self-sufficient CYP variants that can catalyze synthetically useful natural and non-natural(nature-mimicking)reactions are ***,the strategy and efforts that aim to circumvent the challenges for improved thermostability,regio-and enantioselectivity,and total turnover number;associated with practical use of self-sufficient CYPs are reviewed.

In this article, we employ the perturbed Fokas-Lenells equation(FLE), which represents recent electronic communications. The Riccati-Bernoulli Sub-ODE method which does not depend on the balance rule is used for thefirst time to obtain the new exact and solitary wave solutions of this equation. This technique is direct, effective and reduces the large volume of calculations.

Testicular torsion （TT） is a serious urologic emergency that is observed in adolescent males and that can lead to infertility if left untreated. The ischemia-reperfusion （I/R） injury due to TT has been implicated in the pathogenesis of testicular damage. We investigated the effects of melatonin on oxidative damage in the ipsUateral and contralateral testes of rats induced by unilateral TT. A total of 21 prepubertal male Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups, each consisting of seven rats, In Group 1 （ShAM group）： a sham operation to the left testis and bilateral orchiectomy were performed. In Group 2 （I/R group）： I/R injury was created by rotating the left testis 720° in a clockwise direction for 2 h and detorsing the testis after 2 h. Group 3 （I/R ＋ MEL group）： rats were subjected to I/R injury and one-shot melatonin injection （50mgkg-1, intraperitoneal （i.p.））. The testes of the rats were excised bilaterally in all groups. The testicular tissue activities of antioxidant catalase （CAT）, superoxide dismutase （SOD） and glutathione peroxidase enzymes （GSh-Px）, and the tissue levels of malondialdehyde （MDA）, protein carbonyl （PC） and nitric oxide （NO） were determined. Administration of melatonin caused a significant decrease in lipid peroxidation and enzyme activities in the ipsilateral testis when compared with the control group （P 〈 0.05）. All of the changes in the enzyme activities of the contralateral testis were insignificant （P 〉 0.05）. MDA levels were significantly altered in the contralateral testis （P = 0.009）, Melatonin administration decreased the deleterious effects of I/R injury in the ipsilateral torted testes of the rats. The contralateral testes were slightly affected by unilateral TT.

AIM: To investigate the frequency of seropositivity aga- inst CagA, VacA proteins and to determine their indepen- dent effects on the development of duodenal ulcer (DU) in Turkish patients. METhODS: The study was designed as a prospective one from a tertiary referral hospital. Dyspeptic patients who were referred to our endoscopy unit for upper gas- trointestinal endoscopy between June 2003 and March 2004 and diagnosed to have DU or nonulcer dyspepsia (NUD) were included. Biopsies from the antrum and body of the stomach were taken in order to assess the current h pylori status by histology, rapid urease test and culture. Fasting sera were obtained from all patients and h pylori status of all sera was determined by IgG antibo- dies using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELI- SA) kit. All seropositive patients were further analysed using Western blot assays detecting IgG antibodies aga- inst CagA and VacA proteins. The χ2 test was used for statistical comparison of the values and age-sex adjusted multiple regression analysis was used to determine the independent effects of CagA and VacA seropositivities on the development of DU. RESULTS: Sixty-three patients with DU and 62 patients with NUD were eligible for the final analysis. Seropositi- vity for anti-CagA was detected in 51 of 62 (82%), andin 55 of 63 (87%) patients with NUD and DU, respec- tively (p = no significance), and seropositivity for anti- VacA was found in 25 of 62 (40% ) and in 16 of 63 (25%) patients, with NUD and DU, respectively. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that none of the- se virulence factors is associated with the development of DU in the studied Turkish patients with dyspepsia.

Aim： To show the oxidative stress after cigarette smoke exposure in rat testis and to evaluate the effects of caffeic acid phenethyl ester （CAPE）. Methods： Twenty-one rats were divided into three groups of seven. Animals in Group Ⅰ were used as control. Rats in Group Ⅱ were exposed to cigarette smoke only （4 × 30 min/d） and rats in Group Ⅲ were exposed to cigarette smoke and received daily intraperitoneal injections of CAPE （10 μmol/kg.d）. After 60 days all the rats were killed and the levels of nitric oxide （NO） and anti-oxidant enzymes such as superoxide-dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase （GSh-Px） and the level of malondialdehyde were studied in the testicular tissues of rats with spectrophotometric analysis. Results： There was a significant increase in catalase and superoxide-dismutase activities in Group Ⅱ when compared to the controls, but the levels of both decreased after CAPE administration in Group Ⅲ. GSh-Px activity was decreased in Group Ⅱ but CAPE caused an elevation in GSh-Px activity in Group Ⅲ. The difference between the levels of GSh-Px in Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ was significant, but the difference between groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ was not significant. Elevation of malondialdehyde after smoke exposure was significant and CAPE caused a decrease to a level which was not statistically different to the control group. A significantly increased level of NO after exposure to smoke was reversed by CAPE administration and the difference between NO levels in groups Ⅰ and Ⅲ was statistically insignificant. Conclusion： Exposure to cigarette smoke causes changes in the oxidative enzyme levels in rat testis, but CAPE can reverse these harmful effects. （Asian J Andro12006 Mar; 8： 189-193）
