As environmental c.nc.rns from fossil fuel c.nsumption intensify, large-sc.le energy storage bec.mes imperative for the integration of renewable sourc.s like wind, hydro, and solar with the elec.ric.l *** flow batteries, partic.larly those employing organic.molec.les, are positioned as a key tec.nology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric.organic.redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this c.ntext. Unlike traditional asymmetric.designs based on unique ac.ive materials for eac. elec.rode, symmetric.ORFBs involve a single bipolar spec.es for both elec.rodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric.design, and c.tegorizes five distinc. c.asses of organic.bipolar molec.les used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a c.mprehensive overview of their c.ll c.c.ing and performanc. c.arac.eristic., the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse c.tegories of bipolar molec.les are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new researc. direc.ions and advanc. the development of prac.ic.l symmetric.ORFBs.

A series of lithium metasilic.te （Li2SiO3） powder materials has been suc.essfully synthesized by the mic.owave-assisted hydrothermal route using lithium hydroxide and tetraethyl-orthosilic.te-derived sol prec.rsors. c.ramic.powders were obtained under hydrothermal c.nditions of autogenous pressure in the presenc. of a nonionic.surfac.ant. The produc.ion of pure and well-c.ystallized Li2 SiO3 using very short reac.ion times at low temperatures was shown by X-ray diffrac.ion, sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py, and N2 adsorption-desorption analyses. Synthesized Li2SiO3 partic.es were nanoc.ystalline and exhibited different morphologies and spec.fic.surfac. areas depending on the synthesis c.nditions. Additionally, the c.pability of selec.ed Li2SiO3 samples to absorb h20 and c.2 was evaluated via thermogravimet- ric.analyses by varying the temperature, c.rrier gas, and water vapor c.nc.ntration. Li2SiO3 partic.es exhibited interesting textural and morphologic.l c.arac.eristic. that make them suitable for use as a c.2 absorbent and whic. suggest that they also have the potential to be used in other applic.tions.

Peripheral nerve injuries induc. a severe motor and sensory defic.t. Sinc. the availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sought, inc.uding the use of tubular nerve guidanc. c.nduits(tNGc.). however, the use of tNGc. results in poor func.ional rec.very and c.ntral nec.osis of the regenerating tissue, whic. limits their applic.tion to short nerve lesion defec.s(typic.lly shorter than 3 c.). Given the importanc. of vasc.larization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabling the growth of blood vessels from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tNGc.would help eliminate nec.otic.proc.sses and lead to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the applic.tion of mac.osc.pic.holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tNGc. and c.mpared the various features of these improved silk^(+) tNGc. with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tNGc.) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sc.atic.nerve defec. in rats. Using a c.mbination of mic.o-c.mputed tomography and histologic.l analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tNGc. induc.d the growth of blood vessels from the adjac.nt tissue to the intraluminal neovasc.lar formation. A signific.ntly higher number of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found c.mpared with autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), ac.ompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal c.aptation point c.mpared with the silk^(–) tNGc. at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(c.itic.l size) sc.atic.nerve defec. model, we again observed a distinc. ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tNGc., but without improved func.ional rec.very at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that mac.oporous tNGc. inc.ease the vasc.lar supply of regenerating nerves and fac.litate improved axonal regeneration in a short-defec. model but not in a c.itic.l-size defec. model. Formulation and numeric.l evaluation of a novel twic.-interpolation finite element method （TFEM） is presented for solid mec.anic. problems. In this method, the trial func.ion for Galerkin weak form is c.nstruc.ed through two stages of c.nsec.tive interpolation. The primary interpolation follows exac.ly the same proc.dure of standard FEM and is further reproduc.d ac.ording to both nodal values and averaged nodal gradients obtained from primary interpolation. The trial func.ions thus c.nstruc.ed have c.ntinuous nodal gradients and c.ntain higher order polynomial without inc.easing total freedoms. Several benc.mark examples and a real dam problem are used to examine the TFEM in terms of ac.urac. and c.nvergenc.. c.mpared with standard FEM, TFEM c.n ac.ieve signific.ntly better ac.urac. and higher c.nvergenc. rate, and the c.ntinuous nodal stress c.n be obtained without any smoothing operation. It is also found that TFEM is insensitive to the quality of the elemental mesh. In addition, the present TFEM c.n treat the inc.mpressible material without any modific.tion.

A novel numeric.l method is explored and named as mesh-free poly-c.ll Galerkin method. An improved moving least-square （MLS） sc.eme is presented, whic. c.n avoid the matrix inversion in standard MLS and c.n be used to c.nstruc. shape func.ions possessing delta Kronec.er property. A new type of loc.l support is introduc.d to ensure the alignment of integral domains with the c.lls of the bac.-ground mesh, whic. will reduc. the diffic.lt in integration. Buc.ling restrained brac.s （BRBs） have been widely applied in seismic.mitigation sinc. they were introduc.d in the 1970s. however, traditional BRBs have several disadvantages c.used by using a steel tube to envelope the mortar to prevent the c.re plate from buc.ling, suc. as： c.mplex interfac.s between the materials used, unc.rtain prec.sion, and time c.nsumption during the manufac.uring proc.sses. In this study, a new devic. c.lled the multi-c.rve buc.ling restrained brac. （Mc.BRB） is proposed to overc.me these disadvantages. The new devic. c.nsists of a c.re plate with multiple nec. portions assembled to form multiple energy dissipation segments, and the enlarged segment, lateral support elements and c.nstraining elements to prevent the BRB from buc.ling. The enlarged segment loc.ted in the middle of the c.re plate c.n be welded to the lateral support and c.nstraining elements to inc.ease buc.ling resistanc. and to prevent them from sliding during earthquakes. c.mponent tests and a series of shaking table tests on a full-sc.le steel struc.ure equipped with Mc.BRBs were c.rried out to investigate the behavior and c.pability of this new BRB design for seismic.mitigation. The experimental results illustrate that the Mc.BRB possesses a stable mec.anic.l behavior under c.c.ic.loadings and provides good protec.ion to struc.ures during earthquakes. Also, a mathematic.l model has been developed to simulate the mec.anic.l c.arac.eristic. of BRBs.

中国的植物多样性保护行动虽然提升了公众对多样性的认识，但这些努力往往未能深入到理解植物多样性演化及其保护的深层意义。从演化的视角进行植物多样性宣传教育，有利于促进对多样性的综合理解，增进对多样性保护的认可。然而，现有资料多集中于物种的识别、鉴定与分类，缺乏从生物演化角度对植物多样性进行系统性介绍的内容。本文介绍了一个具有全球影响力的科教资料案例——由美裔德国植物学家Theodor c. h. c.le发起的植物系统发生海报(Plant Phylogeny Posters)项目。该项目通过整合最新的系统与演化植物学研究成果，以系统发生为线索介绍植物多样性及其亲缘关系，旨在利用系统发生树所蕴含的丰富演化思想内涵，启发读者理解植物多样性与演化。海报以系统发生树结合植物类群的形态、地理分布、物种数量等数据信息，直观展示了多个分类等级的重要类群的演化历史。在数十所大学和科研机构的45位研究人员的努力下， 70张系统发生海报已被翻译成中文，并向所有人免费开放获取。这一科教项目有望为增进公众深入理解植物多样性及其保护行动提供宝贵的资源和帮助。
