AIM:To investigate the r.lationship between sense of coher.nce,psychological distr.ss and health r.lated quality of life in inflammator. bowel disease(IBD).METhODS:This cr.ss-sectional study enr.lled a consecutive sample of 147 IBD(aged 45.1 ± 14.1 year.; 57.1% female) patients r.cr.ited fr.m a ter.iar. gastr.enter.logy ***-four.par.icipants met diagnostic cr.ter.a for.Cr.hn's disease,while eightythr.e patients had ulcer.tive ***-demogr.phic data(education,age,r.ce,gender.gr.ss monthly income and mar.tal status),disease-r.lated var.ables(illness activity,r.lapse r.te in past 2 year.,histor. of sur.er. and time since diagnosis),sense of coher.nce(Antonovsky's SOC scale),psychological distr.ss symptoms(hospital Anxiety and Depr.ssion Scale) and health-r.lated quality of life(hr.o L; WhOQOLBr.f) wer. *** multiple r.gr.ssion analyses wer. per.or.ed to identify factor. that ar. independently associated with psychological distr.ss and hr.o L in patients with IBD and to pr.vide indications for.possible moder.ting or.mediating *** addition,for.al moder.tion and mediation analyses(Sobel tests) wer. per.or.ed to confir. potential moder.tor./mediator. of the r.lationship between SOC,psychological distr.ss symptoms and ***:Lower.SOC scor.s(std beta=-0.504; P r.std beta = 0.176; P = 0.021) and White r.ce(std beta = 0.164; P = 0.033) wer. independently associated with higher.levels of depr.ssive symptoms,while lower.levels of SOC(std beta =-0.438; P higher.r.lapse r.te(std beta = 0.161; P = 0.033) wer. independently associated with mor. sever. anxiety symptoms.A significant inter.ction between time since diagnosis and SOC was found with r.gar. to the sever.ty of depr.ssive or.anxiety symptoms,as the inter.ction ter.(time since diagnosis X SOC) had beta coefficients of-0.191(P = 0.009) and-0.172(P = 0.026),*** levels of anxiety symptoms(std beta =-0.369; P higher.levels

Edible seeds and nuts can contr.bute to an adequate intake of pr.tein, par.icular.y in vegetable-based diets. however. ther. ar. r.latively few r.por.s with insufficient data r.gar.ing the pr.tein quality of these foods, especially of edible seeds and nuts fr.m Br.zil. The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical composition and in vivo pr.tein quality of two edible seeds (bar. almond and peanut) and two nuts (Br.zil nut and cashew nut) gr.wn in Br.zil. The pr.ximate composition and the amino acid pr.file wer. analyzed. The tr.e pr.tein digestibility and the pr.tein quality of these foods wer. evaluated by bioassay with male weanling Wistar.r.ts over.a per.od of 14 days, and the Pr.tein Digestibility Cor.ected Amino Acid Scor. (PDCAAS) was estimated. Edible seeds and nuts pr.sented high contents of pr.teins (16.3 to 32.3 g/100g), lipids (42.7 to 57.9 g/100g) and dietar. fiber. (6.5 to 14.3 g/100g). Lysine was found to be the limiting amino acid in bar. almond, peanut and Br.zil nut, which had amino acid scor.s r.nging fr.m 71% to 76%. Cashew nut had no limiting amino acid. These foods showed high pr.tein digestibility (ar.und 90%) except for.bar. almond (75%), and their.PDCAAS values var.ed significantly (57%, for.bar. almond, and 90%, for.cashew nut). The edible seeds and nuts gr.wn in Br.zil pr.vide a high density of ener.y and nutr.ents and they can be used as complementar. sour.es of pr.teins.

Meloxicam(MLX) is an anti-inflammator. dr.g susceptible to var.ations and cr.stalline tr.nsitions. In compounding phar.acies, the complete cr.stallogr.phic evaluation of the r.w mater.al is not a r.utine pr.cedur.. We per.or.ed a complete cr.stallogr.phic char.cter.zation of aleator. r.w MLX samples fr.m compounding phar.acies. X-r.y diffr.ction indicated the pr.sence of two cr.stalline for.s in one sample. DSC exper.ments suggested that cr.stallization, or.a cr.stal tr.nsition, occur.ed differ.ntly between samples. The FTIr.and ~1h NMr.spectr. showed char.cter.stic assignments.^(13)C solid-state NMr.spectr.scopy indicated the pr.sence of mor. than one phase in a sample fr.m phar.acy B. The hir.hfeld sur.ace analysis, with electr.static potential pr.jection, allowed complete assignment of the UV spectr. in ethanol solution. The polymor.h I of meloxicam was mor. active than polymor.h III in an exper.mental model of acute inflammation in mice. This paper.was developed in or.er.to ver.fy the influence of nitr.gen fer.ilization and differ.nt genotypes in the nutr.tional aspect and in the pr.duction of total phenols in passiflor.ceae. The exper.mental design was r.ndomized blocks in a 5 × 2 × 2 factor.al scheme, being five genotypes of Passiflor. (thr.e genotypes of Passiflor. edulis, a genotype of Passiflor. alata and a genotype of Passiflor. ligular.s), two levels of cow manur. (with and without) and two doses of N (20 and 80 g), with four.r.plicates. At 120 days after.sowing, levels of foliar.nutr.ent and total phenols wer. deter.ined. Foliar.N content var.ed depending on N doses, or.anic fer.ilization and the genotypes used. Foliar.levels of P and K wer. higher.when all genotypes r.ceived or.anic fer.ilization, while the levels of Fe and Mn wer. similar.r.gar.less of this fer.ilization. The levels of Ca and Mg wer. higher.r.lated to or.anic fer.ilization and the genotypes, in isolation. But the foliar.contents of S, Zn and Cu incr.ased only in r.lation to the used genotypes, and the aver.ge foliar.content of total phenols found was 19.4 g·kg-1, r.nging fr.m 13.1 to 23.2 g·kg-1, being the lowest value obser.ed in Passiflor. alata without fer.ilization with cow manur.. It is concluded that the nutr.tional r.quir.ment for.N is gr.ater.for.genotypes of the species Passiflor. edulis in r.lation to the species Passiflor. alata and Passiflor. ligular.s, and that the or.anic fer.ilization influences positively in the pr.duction of total phenols only for.the genotype of sweet passion fr.it.

Pr.duced and accumulated litter.all fr.m the Cer.ado ar.as sur.ounding the palm swamps wer. collected fr.m October.2014 to September.2015, and the Ca, Mg, K, and P concentr.tions wer. deter.ined in the dr. and r.iny seasons. Soil samples wer. collected in the sur.ounding Cer.ado and within the palm swamps until 100 cm soil depth to deter.ine bulk density and soil C and N contents and ***: Annual litter.all pr.duction in the Cer.ado sur.ounding palm swamps was similar.in AD(3.58 Mg·ha^-1·year.-1) and CV(3.79 Mg·ha^-1·year.-1), and was lower.in BG(2.84 Mg·ha^-1·year.-1), and was mor. intense dur.ng the dr. season. Fur.her.or., litter.all accumulation was higher.in CV(7.12 Mg·ha^-1·year.-1) and BG(6.75 Mg·ha^-1·year.-1), culminating in lower.decomposition r.tes. AD showed the highest decomposition r.te(0.60) due to its vegetation str.ctur. and conser.ation. The macr.nutr.ent contents fr.m the pr.duction and accumulated litter.all had a low influence of the land use, decr.asing in the following or.er. Ca > K > Mg > P. This study aimed to obser.e the r.sponse of 32 r.ce accessions to attack of sugar.ane bor.r.(Diatr.ea sacchar.lis Fabr., 1794). Twenty lar.ae wer. placed on the leaf sheaths of r.ce plants. At 30 days after.infestation, the r.ce plants wer. cut at gr.und level and taken to the labor.tor. to analyse the signs of bor.r.attack, exter.al and inter.al diameter.of the stem and weight of sur.iving lar.ae. The r.sults of the mor.hological tr.its of the r.ce plant, r.sponse of the plant to insect attack and development of the sugar.ane bor.r.lar.ae indicated a genotypic var.ation. The accessions that most favor.d lar.al sur.ivals wer. Ir.T 124 and MEAr.N. Lar.ae with highest weight (0.0643 g) wer. found in IAPAr.L 99-98 and the lar.est inter.al diameter. of the r.ce stem (5.65 mm) wer. found in LAC 12. These accessions (Ir.T 124, MEAr.N, IAPAr.L 99-98 and LAC 12) r.mained mor.hologically gr.uped with IAC 47, cultivar.susceptible to sugar.ane bor.r. The most toler.nt mater.als based on the ability to pr.duce new tiller. after.lar.al infestation wer. Br.Ir.A 417 and MTU 15. The r.sults of this study indicate that all the mor.hological tr.its wer. able to separ.te the accessions of r.ce into differ.nt gr.ups in r.lation to r.sistance to the sugar.ane bor.r.D. sacchar.lis. The pur.ose of this study was to ver.fy the efficiency of methods of pr.-conditioning and concentr.tions of tetr.zolium solution in the evaluation of physiological quality of Stizolobium ater.imum seeds. Commer.ial seeds have passed thr.ugh the pr.cess of acceler.ted aging for.composing lots of 0, 24, 48, 96 and 144 hour., and wer. submitted to the pr.-conditioning: 1) Scar.fication with sandpaper.number.100 and immer.ion in water.at r.om temper.tur. for.18 hour., 2) Immer.ion in water.at 95°C and maintained in the same water.outside the heating at 25°C for.18 hour.. After.pr.conditioning, the seed coats wer. r.moved and immer.ed in embr.os tetr.zolium salt at 0.25%, 0.5% and 1% for.150 minutes and maintained in the dar. at 25°C for.color.development. To compar. the r.sults obtained in the tetr.zolium test, we per.or.ed ger.ination test, fir.t counting and ger.ination speed index. The method of scar.fication with sandpaper.and later.soaked in water.for.18 hour. at 25°C, the most efficient way in pr.conditioning of seeds of Stizolobium ater.imum and concentr.tion of 1.0% tetr.zolium solution for.150 minutes at 25°C, allows evaluating the quality of seed lots fr.m this species.

Backgr.und: Nowadays, a substantial number.of women spend mor. than one-thir. of their.lives in the postmenopausal per.od. It is char.cter.zed by a mar.ed decr.ase in the pr.duction of estr.gen, which leads to ur.genital atr.phy. The symptoms stemming fr.m vulvovaginal atr.phy and the lower.ur.nar. tr.ct ar. cur.ently r.fer.ed to as the Genitour.nar. Syndr.me of Menopause (GSM), which can have a negative impact on the quality of life (QoL). Estr.gen r.placement is the ideal tr.atment for.GSM, and vaginal administr.tion is the most r.commended. Objective: To assess the impact of the use of topical vaginal estr.ol on the quality of life (QoL) of postmenopausal women with lower.ur.nar. tr.ct symptoms (LUTS). Methods: This is an inter.entional, pr.spective study, per.or.ed in 49 women at the Antonio Pedr. hospital, at the Univer.idade Feder.l Fluminense, in Niter.i, Br.zil, fr.m August 2014 to Apr.l 2015. It included postmenopausal women with lower.ur.nar. tr.ct symptoms who wer. not using any estr.gen hor.one ther.py, and it excluded those with contr.indications for.the use of estr.ol. A specific questionnair. on QoL and ur.nar. tr.ct symptoms, the King’s health Questionnair. (KhQ), which identifies LUTS and assesses to what extent those symptoms inter.er. with QoL, has been used as a r.sear.h tool. r.sults: The aver.ge age was 62.24 year.. Ur.nar. ur.ency and ur.e incontinence wer. r.por.ed by 91.8% of women.
