In this study, we developed a general method to analytically tackle a kind of movable boundary problem from the viewpoint of energy variation. having grouped the adhesion of a micro-beam, droplet and carbon nanotube （CNT） ring on a substrate into one framework, we used the developed line of reasoning to investigate the adhesion behaviors of these systems. Based upon the derived governing equations and transversality conditions, explicit solutions involving the critical parameters and morphologies for the three systems are successfully obtained, and then the parameter analogies and common characteristics of them are thor- oughly investigated. The presented method has been verified via the concept of energy release rate in fracture mechanics. Our analyses provide a new approach for exploring the mechanism of different systems with similarities as well as for understanding the unity of nature. The analysis results may be beneficial for the design of nano-structured materi- als, and hold potential for enhancing their mechanical, chemical, optical and electronic properties.

An initial exploration was conducted using mathematical and statistical methods to obtain relevant information about the determination of the physicochemical parameters capable of controlling As uptake by ryegrass grown on contaminated *** of As in the soils were from 10 to 47 mg/kg,mainly in the As（V） form（57%–73%）.Concentrations of As in water extracts were very low（61–700 μg/kg）.It was suggested that As（Ⅲ） was mainly in the uncharged species and As（V） in the charged *** methods revealed that the values of the ratio As（Ⅲ）/As（V） depended on the assimilated-phosphorus,the pseudo-total and water-extractable Fe contents and the soil p *** concentrations measured in ryegrass shoots ranged from 119 to 1602 μg/*** linear correlations were obtained between As in ryegrass shoots and water *** transfer coefficient of As correlated well with the ratio assimilated-phosphorus/***（Ⅲ）uptake by the shoot of ryegrass was controlled by the organic matter and Fe-oxide contents.

The aminothiol cysteamine,derived from coenzyme A degradation in mammalian cells,presents several biological ***,the bitter taste and sickening odor,chemical instability,hygroscopicity,and poor pharmacokinetic profile of cysteamine limit its *** use of encapsulation systems is a good methodology to overcome these undesirable properties and improve the pharmacokinetic behavior of ***,the conjugation of cysteamine to the surface of nanoparticles is generally proposed to improve the intra-oral delivery of cyclodextrin-drug inclusion complexes,as well as to enhance the colorimetric detection of compounds by a gold nanoparticle aggregation *** the other hand,the detection and quantification of cysteamine is a challenging mission due to the lack of a chromophore in its structure and its susceptibility to oxidation before or during the *** agents are therefore applied for the quantification of this *** our knowledge,the derivatization techniques and the encapsulation systems used for cysteamine delivery were not reviewed ***,this review aims to compile all the data on these methods as well as to provide an overview of the various biological applications of cysteamine focusing on its skin application.

In this letter, the effects of the iron （Fe） dopant concentration on the nonlinear optical properties of iron-doped ferroelectric X-cut liNbO3 crystals plates are studied by using the Z-scan technique with a cw laser at the wave- length of 532 nm. The amount of iron in the compound is varied from 0 to 0.15 mol%. Measurements of nonlinear refractive index n2 and the nonlinear absorption coefficient β are determined. The sign of the nonlinear refractive index is found to be negative and the magnitude is on the order of 10-s cm2/W. This nonlinear effect increases as the concentration increases from 0 to 0.15 mol%. A good linear relationship is obtained between nonlinear refractive index, nonlinear absorption coefficient, and concentration.

In this work, a model of convective drying of mango slices was developed and validated by experiments. This model was established by considering slices shrinkage in the energy and the mass balances during the thin layer drying. The drying kinetics and the temperature curves of the product were simulated using the model at various drying temperatures. The simulated curves were then compared to the experimental curves obtained using a convective dryer controlled in temperature and moisture. The results showed that the drying curves were suitably fitted by the thin layer drying model with a correlation coefficient r2 = 0.997. Thus, taking shrinkage into account, it is possible to predict more effectively the thin layer drying kinetics of mango slices. This study therefore contributed to the mango drying modelling and to the mango dryer setting.

Considering phase changes associated with a high-temperature molten material cooled down from the outside,this work presents an improvement of the modelling and the numerical simulation of such processes for an application pertaining to the safety of light water nuclear *** a core meltdown accident,the behaviour of the core melt(aka corium)into a steel vessel is of tremendous importance when evaluating the vessel *** correctly the heat fluxes requires the numerical simulation of the interaction between the liquid material and its solid counterpart which forms during the solidification process,but also may melt *** simulate this configuration,encoun-tered in various industrial applications,one considers a bi-phase model constituted by a liquid phase in contact and interaction with its solid *** liquid phase may solidify in presence of low energetic source,while the solid phase may melt due to an intense heat flux from the high-temperature *** the frame of the in-house legacy code,several simplifying assumptions(0D multi-layer discretization,instantaneous heat transfer via a quadratic temperature profile in solids)are made for the modelling of such phase *** the present work,these shortcomings are illustrated and further overcome by solving a 2D heat conduction model in the solid by a mixed Raviart-Thomas finite element method coupled to the liquid phase due to heat and mass exchanges through Stefan *** liquid phase is modeled with a 0D multi-layer *** 0D-liquid and 2D-solid mod-els are coupled by a Stefan like phase change interface *** sanity checks are performed to assess the validity of the approach on 1D and 2D academical configurations for which exact or reference solutions are *** more advanced situations(genu-ine multi-dimensional phase changes and an"industrial-like scenario")are simulated to verify the appropriate behavior of the obtained coupled simulation schem

Conventional lithographic printing processes using porous alumina for offset applications generally use "wet" routes. recently "dry" processes have been developed which are based on a heat-induced hydrophilic/oleophilic conversion of one or more layers of the coating so that a stronger affinity to-wards ink or water fountain is created at the exposed areas with respect to the surface of the unex-posed coating. Treatments involving rf plasma-enhanced fluorination (PEF) constitute exceptional tools for modifying the surface properties of materials. Many advantages of these techniques can be indeed outlined, when compared to more conventional methods: room-temperature reactions, chemical modi-fications limited to surface only without changing the bulk properties, possible non-equilibrium reac-tions. The influence of PEF treatments on porous alumina layer used in printing plates has been tested with various fluorinated gases (CF4, C3F8 and C4F8) and characterized by XPS. The hydrophobic prop-erties of the fluorinated layer have been deduced from contact angle measurements. Using C4F8 rf-PEF treatment, the outmost surface of the hydrophilic alumina substrate used for lithographic printing is hydrophobized, or in other words, the hydrophilic substrate is converted into a support with hydro-phobic properties. Once being hydrophobized, the surface layer may be rendered hydrophilic using a heat pulse, thus giving rise to switchable hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties of the material.
