Since the initial description, the name Musa dasycarpa Kurz (1867) has been unclear to most botanists. It has usually been synonymized with M. velutina h. Wendl. & Drude (1875). however, although the original diagnosis was very short, 'fruits hairy', it is adequate. Thus, according to Vienna Codes, M. dasycarpa Kurz has priority over M. velutina h. Wendl. & Drude. The aim of this study is to settle the true identity and to update the description of M. dasycarpa Kurz. For that purpose the names M. dasycarpa and M. velutina are typified. In addi-tion, critical notes regarding M. assamica Bull. are given; it is neotypified here, and considered as conspecific with M. sanguinea hook. f.

Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are multipotent adult stem cells of mesodermal origin that can be isolated from various tissues,including bone marrow,tooth pulp,adipose tissue,and umbilical *** have gained significant attention in regenerative medicine due to their ability to modulate the immune system and favor tissue *** enrich the medium in which they are cultivated with a broad range of bioactive molecules,including growth factors,cytokines,chemokines,enzymes,nucleic acids,and extracellular vesicles that collectively compose the MSC *** increasing number of pre-clinical studies suggest that delivering in vivo an MSC-conditioned medium(i.e.,the medium collected from MSC cultures after at least 3 days of exposure)exerts neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects in a variety of neurological conditions.

Nowadays,force sensors play an important role in industrial production,electronic information,medical health,and many other ***-dimensional material-based filed effect transistor(2D-FET)sensors are competitive with nano-level size,lower power consumption,and accurate ***,few of them has the capability of impulse detection which is a path function,expressing the cumulative effect of the force on the particle over a period of *** we fabricated the flexible polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)gate dielectric MoS_(2)-FET for force and impulse sensor *** systematically investigated the responses of the sensor to constant force and varying forces,and achieved the conversion factors of the drain current signals(I_(ds))to the detected impulse(I).The applied force was detected and recorded by I_(ds)with a low power consumption of~30 *** sensitivity of the device can reach~8000%and the 4×1 sensor array is able to detect and locate the normal force applied on ***,there was almost no performance loss for the device as left in the air for two months.

Currently,the Al_(2)O_(3)content in the high-alumina slag systems within blast furnaces is generally limited to 16wt%–18.5wt%,making it challenging to overcome this *** most studies that concentrated on managing the MgO/Al_(2)O_(3)ratio or basicity,this paper explored the effect of equimolar substitution of MgO for CaO on the viscosity and structure of a high-alumina CaO-MgO-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)slag system,providing theoretical guidance and data to facilitate the application of high-alumina *** results revealed that the viscosity first decreased and then increased with higher MgO substitution,reaching a minimum at 15mol%MgO *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)results found that the depths of the troughs representing[SiO_(4)]tetrahedra,[AlO_(4)]tetrahedra,and Si-O-Al bending became progressively deeper with increased MgO *** of the Raman spectra showed that the average number of bridging oxygens per Si atom and the X_(Q^(3))/X_(Q^(2))(X_(Q^(i))is the molar fraction of Q^(i) unit,and i is the number of bridging oxygens in a[SiO_(4)]tetrahedral unit)ratio increased from 2.30 and 1.02 to 2.52 and 2.14,respectively,indicating a progressive polymerization of the silicate structure.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results highlighted that non-bridging oxygen content decreased from 77.97mol% to 63.41mol% with increasing MgO concentration,whereas bridging oxygen and free oxygen contents *** analysis demonstrated a gradual increase in the polymerization degree of the tetrahedral structure with the increase in MgO ***,bond strength is another important factor affecting the slag *** occurrence of a viscosity minimum can be attributed to the complex evolution of bond strengths of non-bridging oxygens generated during depolymerization of the[SiO_(4)]and[AlO_(4)]tetrahedral structures by CaO and MgO.

Since the initial description, the name Musa aurantiaca Baker (1893) has been unclear to most botanists. The aim of this study is to settle its true identity and to update the description. The plant is distributed in the regions of Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, India, Northern Myanmar and Tibet, China where it occurs commonly but it is not mentioned in Chinese literature at all. In this paper, the authors also review the description and the literature history of M. aurantiaca from 1893 to the present. Musa aurantiaca Baker is typified here.

AIM: To evaluate the implication of substitutions in the hepatitis C virus (hCV) non-structural 5A (NS5A) protein in the resistance of hCV during mono-interferon (IFN) or combined IFN-ribavirin (IFN-R) therapy. Although NS5A has been reported to interact with the hCV RNA- dependent RNA polymerase, NS5B, as well as with many cellular proteins, the function of NS5A in the life cycle of hCV remains unclear. METhODS: hCV quasispecies were studied by clon- ing and sequencing of sequential isolates from patients infected by hCV genotype 1b. Patients were treated by IFN-α2b for 3 mo followed by IFN-α2b alone or com- bined IFN-R therapy for 9 additional months. Patients were categorized intro two groups based on their re- sponse to the treatments: 7 with sustained virological re- sponse (SVR) (quasispecies = 150) and 3 non-respond- ers (NR) to IFN-R (quasispecies = 106). reSUlTS: Prior to treatment, SVR patients displayed a lower complexity of quasispecies than NR patients. Most patients had a decrease in the complexity of quasispe- cies during therapy. Analysis of amino acids substitu- tions showed that the degree of the complexity of the interferon sensitivity-determining region (ISDR) and the V3 domain of NS5A protein was able to discriminate thetwo groups of patients. Moreover, SVR patients displayed more variability in the NS5A region than NR patients. CONClUSION: These results suggest that detailed mo- lecular analysis of the NS5A region may be important for understanding its function in IFN response during hCV 1b infection.

Texture is a complex trait and a major component of fruit quality in *** the major effect of MdPG1,a gene controlling firmness,has already been exploited in elite cultivars,the genetic basis of crispness remains poorly *** further improve fruit texture,harnessing loci with minor effects via genomic selection is therefore *** this study,we measured acoustic and mechanical features in 537 genotypes to dissect the firmness and crispness components of fruit *** of across-year phenotypic values for these components were calculated using a model calibrated with 8,294 SNP *** best prediction accuracies following cross-validations within the training set of 259 genotypes were obtained for the acoustic linear distance(0.64).Predictions for biparental families using the entire training set varied from low to high accuracy,depending on the family *** adding siblings or half-siblings into the training set did not clearly improve predictions,we performed an optimization of the training set size and composition for each validation *** allowed us to increase prediction accuracies by 0.17 on average,with a maximal accuracy of 0.81 when predicting firmness in the‘Gala’×‘Pink lady’*** results therefore identified key genetic parameters to consider when deploying genomic selection for texture in *** particular,we advise to rely on a large training population,with high phenotypic variability from which a‘tailored training population’can be extracted using a priori information on genetic relatedness,in order to predict a specific target population.

The use of liver transplantation(lT) as a treatment for alcoholic liver disease(AlD) has been highly controversial since the beginning. The ever increasing shortage of organs has accentuated the low priority given to patients suffering from AlD, which is considered a "self-inflicted" condition. however, by improving the long-term survival rates, making them similar to those from other indications, and recognizing that alcoholism is a primary disease, AlD has become one of the most common indications for lT in Europe and North America, a situation thought unfathomable thirty years ago. Unfortunately, there are still many issues with the use of this procedure for AlD. There are significant relapse rates, and the consequences of excessive drinking after lT range from asymptomatic biochemical and histological abnormalities to graft failure and death. A minimum three-month period of sobriety is required for an improvement in liver function, thus making lT unnecessary, and to demonstrate the patient's commitment to the project, even though a longer abstinence period does not guarantee lower relapse rates after lT. recent data have shown that lT is also effective for severe alcoholic hepatitis when the patient is unresponsive to corticosteroids therapy, with low relapse rates in highly selected patients, although these results must be confirmed before lT becomes a standard procedure in this setting. Finally, lT for AlD is accompanied by an increased risk of de novo solid organ cancer, skin cancer, and lymphoproliferative disorders, which has a large impact on the survival rates.

The Arabian Gulf Countries(AGC)are strongly reliant on the economic export of fossil fuels,while being vulnerable to climate change that is resulting in temperature increase,air pollution and sea-level rise,and threatening the health of the population and *** agreement with the Paris Accords,most of the AGC have published short-term goals to reduce their carbon emissions in the coming *** relation to these goals,this study explores the potential CO_(2)reduction,avoidance and removal in the region,by comparing a business-as-usual(BAU)scenario to three decarbonization scenarios for the power *** 2018,the total greenhouse gas(GhG)emissions in the AGC were~1333 MtCO_(2)/yr and are expected to rise to 1568 MtCO_(2)/yr in 2030 following a BAU scenario,which is likely to be reduced to 1522 MtCO_(2)/yr in 2030 by following the countries’*** issued plans for the coming decades that focus on increasing the share of renewable energy in their grid *** three decarbonization scenarios presented in this study focus on supply-side technological *** retirement of the oldest natural-gas and oil power plants could lead to a total emissions reduction of~75 MtCO_(2)/yr,without accounting for the embodied carbon emissions associated with renewable *** addition,the implementation of point-source capture at power plants expected to retire in>10 years’time could avoid emissions of~240 MtCO_(2)/yr,provided the CO_(2)is permanently sequestered in appropriate geological *** region also shows high-quality solar resources and large CO_(2)-storage potential that could couple to direct air-capture plants to offset difficult-to-avoid *** last scenario has the potential to ultimately result in net negative emissions.
