The myelin sheath is a lipoprotein-rich,multilayered structure capable of increasing conduction velocity in central and peripheral myelinated nerve *** to the complex structure and composition of myelin,various histological techniques have been developed over the centuries to evaluate myelin under normal,pathological or experimental ***,methods to assess myelin integrity or content are key tools in both clinical diagnosis and neuroscience *** this review,we provide an updated summary of the composition and structure of the myelin sheath and discuss some histological procedures,from tissue fixation and processing techniques to the most used and practical myelin histological staining *** the.lipoprotein nature of myelin,the main features and technical details of the different available methods that can be used to evaluate the.lipid or protein components of myelin are described,as we.l as the precise ultrastructural techniques.

The glacial history of Pico de Orizaba indicates that during the.last Glacial Maximum,its icecap covered up to~3000 m asl;due to the air temperature increasing,its main glacier has retreated to 5050 m *** retraction of the glacier has left behind an intense climatic instability that causes a high frequency of freeze-thaw cycles of great intensity;the resulting geomorphological processes are represented by the fragmentation of the bedrock that occupies the upper parts of the *** is a notable.lack of studies regarding the fragmentation and erosion occurring in tropical high mountains,and the associated geomorphological risks;for this reason,as a first stage of future continuous research,this study analyzes the freezing and thawing cycles that occur above 4000 m asl,through continuous monitoring of surface ground *** results allow us to identify and characterize four zones:glacial,paraglacial,periglacial and *** was found that the paraglacial zone presents an intense drop of temperature,of up to~9℃ in only sixty *** rock fatigue and intense freeze-thaw cycles that occur in this area are responsible for the high rate of rock disintegration and represent the main factor of the constant slope dynamics that occur at the *** activity decreases,both in frequency and intensity,according to the distance to the glacier,which is where the temperature presents a certain degree of stability,until reaching the proglacial zone,where cycles are almost non-existent,and therefore there is no gelifraction *** geomorphological processes have resulted in significant alterations to the mountain slopes,which can have severe consequences in terms of risk and water.

Geochemical and mineralogical studies were performed in the.la Pesca(lP) and Tesoro Altamira(TA) beach sediments, located in the Tamaulipas state, northern Gulf of Mexico. The main aim of this study is to infer the weathering history and provenance and to discriminate the tectonic environment of the beach sediments. The sediments are composed of quartz with small amounts of accessory minerals such as plagioclase, calcite, orthoclase, microcline, and zircon. Both beach sediments are classified as fine-grained and very we.l sorted, however lP has coarse skewed and leptokurtic sediments, whereas TA has fine-skewed and very leptokurtic sediments. The chemical index of weathering(CIW') indicates intense weathering in the source area. The quartz grain microtextures in the.lP and TA are classified into mechanical, chemical, and mechanical/chemical origin. Mechanical features such as fractures, pits, percussion marks, abrasion fatigue, and V-shaped marks favor high-energy littoral, fluvial, subaqueous-marine, and ae.lian environments. The chemical features indicate solution pits and crystalline overgrowth, which suggests a silica saturated marine environment. The mechanical/chemical features display adhering particles and elongated depressions suggest formation in a sub-aqueous nearshore marine environment. Major and trace elements-based provenance discrimination diagrams indicate a felsic source derived from the Mesa Central(MC), sierra Madre Oriental(sMOr) and Oaxaquia terranes. The major and trace element concentrations imply a passive margin setting for the northern Gulf of Mexico, which is consistent with the general ge.logy.

A family of Ce-doped laCoO_(3) perovskites are presented as possible catalysts for Cl-VOCs *** materials with different contents of Ce were obtained through the citrate and the reactive grinding *** insertion of Ce in the original perovskite structure favours the presence of Co^(2+)/Co^(3+) and Ce^(3+)/Ce^(4+) redox pairs and a higher content of oxygen vacancies that enhances the catalytic performance in chlorobenzene combustion based on differential kinetics *** family obtained by the grinding method presents a performance as high as that synthesized by citrate ***,the reactive grinding is a feasible green chemistry alternative to obtain a catalyst with the same performance as that obtained from traditional ***,the stability of samples was evaluated under total combustion reaction conditions showing an exce.lent activity during 45 h time on stream.

Teratozoospermia is an infertility issue that affects a significant number of couples of reproductive age. One of the potential causes contributing to the global de.line in seminal quality includes factors such as diet, alcohol and tobacco consumption, high levels of stress, and environmental influences. This underscores the need to preserve the fertility of these patients through cryopreservation techniques. In this review, we explore the.latest methods for freezing seminal samples, highlighting their advancements and advantages in addressing the challenge of perpetuating animal species, particularly in the context of human infertility.

Application of high silica ze.lite ZsM-5 in a hybrid treatment process based on sequential adsorption and ozonation for VOCs elimination

In this study,a hydrophobic synthetic ze.lite,namely ZsM-5 is chosen as an adsorbent/catalyst for toluene *** results showed that toluene adsorption onto ZsM-5 was favourable,following a langmuir adsorption isotherm ***-5 ze.lite was regenerated using gaseous ozone at low *** toluene was oxidised,releasing mainly CO_2 and h_*** of oxidation by-products such as acetic acid and acetaldehyde were formed and remained adsorbed after the oxidativate regeneration with *** four successive cycles of adsorption/ozonation,the adsorption efficiency was not affected（92%-99%）.These results showed that volatile organic compound（VOC）removal by adsorption onto ZsM-5 ze.lite followed by ozone regeneration could be used as a promising hybrid process for the control of VOC emissions in terms of efficiency.
