Remotely sensed data are frequently used for predicting and mapping ecosystem characteristics,and spatially explicit wall-to-wall information is sometimes proposed as the best possible source of information for ***,wall-to-wall information typically relies on model-based prediction,and several features of model-based prediction should be understood before extensively relying on this type of *** such feature is that model-based predictors can be considered both unbiased and biased at the same time,which has important implications in several areas of *** this discussion paper,we first describe the conventional model-unbiasedness paradigm that underpins most prediction techniques using remotely sensed(or other)auxiliary *** this point of view,model-based predictors are typically ***,we show that for specific domains,identified based on their true values,the same model-based predictors can be considered biased,and sometimes severely *** suggest distinguishing between conventional model-bias,defined in the statistical literature as the difference between the expected value of a predictor and the expected value of the quantity being predicted,and design-bias of model-based estimators,defined as the difference between the expected value of a model-based estimator and the true value of the quantity being *** show that model-based estimators(or predictors)are typically design-biased,and that there is a trend in the design-bias from overestimating small true values to underestimating large true ***,we give examples of applications where this is important to acknowledge and to potentially make adjustments to correct for the design-bias *** argue that relying entirely on conventional model-unbiasedness may lead to mistakes in several areas of application that use predictions from remotely sensed data.

A Collocation Technique via Pell-Lucas Polynomials to Solve Fractional Differential equationmodel for hIV/AIDS with Treatment Compartment

In this study,a numerical method based on the Pell-Lucas polynomials(PLPs)is developed to solve the fractional order hIV/AIDS epidemic model with a treatment *** hIV/AIDS mathematical model with a treatment compartment is divided into five classes,namely,susceptible patients(S),hIV-positive individuals(I),individuals with full-blown AIDS but not receiving ARV treatment(A),individuals being treated(T),and individuals who have changed their sexual habits sufficiently(R).According to the method,by utilizing the PLPs and the collocation points,we convert the fractional order hIV/AIDS epidemic model with a treatment compartment into a nonlinear system of the algebraic ***,the error analysis is presented for the Pell-Lucas approximation *** aim of this study is to observe the behavior of five populations after 200 days when drug treatment is applied to hIV-infectious and full-blown AIDS *** demonstrate the usefulness of this method,the applications are made on the numerical example with the help of *** addition,four cases of the fractional order derivative(p=1,p=0.95,p=0.9,p=0.85)are examined in the range[0,200].Owing to applications,we figured out that the outcomes have quite decent ***,we understand that the errors decrease when the value of N *** figures in this study are created in *** outcomes indicate that the presented method is reasonably sufficient and correct.

Analysis of particle dispersion and cavity formation during bulk particle water entry using fully coupled CFD-Dem-VOF approach

With the launch of the first civilian early-morning orbit satellite Fengyun-3e(FY-3e),higher demands are placed on the accuracy of radiative transfer simulations for hyperspectral infrared ***,several key issues are investigated in the ***,the accuracy of the fast atmospheric transmittance model implemented in the Advanced Research and modeling System(ARmS)has been evaluated with both the line-by-line radiative transfer model(LBLRTm)and the actual satellite *** results indicate that the biases are generally less than 0.25 K when compared to the LBLRTm,while below 1.0 K for the majority of the channels when compared to the ***,during both comparisons,significant biases are observed in certain *** accuracy of hyperspectral Infrared Atmospheric Sounder-II(hIRAS-II)onboard FY-3e is comparable to,and even superior to that of the Cross-track Infrared Sounder(CrIS)onboard ***,apodization is a crucial step in the processing of hyperspectral data in that the apodization function is utilized as the instrument channel spectral response function to produce the satellite channel-averaged *** further explore the difference between the apodized and unapodized simulations,Sinc function is adopted in the fast transmittance *** is found that the use of Sinc function can make the simulations fit the original satellite observations *** simulating with apodized observations,the use of Sinc function exhibits larger deviations compared to the hamming ***,a correction module is applied to minimize the impact of Non-Local Thermodynamic equilibrium(NLTe)in the shortwave infrared *** is verified that the implementation of the NLTe correction model leads to a significant reduction in the bias between the simulation and observation for this band.

Free vibration and buckling analysis of polymeric composite beams reinforced by functionally graded bamboo fbers

Natural fibers have been extensively researched as reinforcement materials in polymers on account of their environmental and economic advantages in comparison with synthetic fibers in the recent *** fibers are renowned for their good mechanical properties,abundance,and short cycle *** beams are one of the fundamental structural components and are susceptible to mechanical loads in engineering applications,this paper performs a study on the free vibration and buckling responses of bamboo fiber reinforced composite(BFRC)beams on the elastic *** different functionally graded(FG)layouts and a uniform one are the considered distributions for unidirectional long bamboo fibers across the *** elastic properties of the composite are determined with the law of *** hamilton’s principle,the governing equations of motion are *** generalized differential quadrature method(GDQm)is then applied to the equations to obtain the *** achieved outcomes exhibit that the natural frequency and buckling load values vary as the fiber volume fractions and distributions,elastic foundation stiffness values,and boundary conditions(BCs)and slenderness ratio of the beam ***,a comparative study is conducted between the derived analysis outcomes for BFRC and homogenous polymer beams to examine the effectiveness of bamboo fibers as reinforcement materials,demonstrating the significant enhancements in both vibration and buckling responses,with the exception of natural frequencies for cantilever beams on the Pasternak foundation with the FG-◇fiber ***,the obtained analysis results of BFRC beams are also compared with those for carbon nanotube reinforced composite(CNTRC)beams found in the literature,indicating that the buckling loads and natural frequencies of BFRC beams are lower than those of CNTRC beams.

Role of Oncostatin m in the prognosis of inflammatory bowel disease: A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Oncostatin m(OSm)is a pleiotropic cytokine which is implicated in the path-ogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).AIm To evaluate the prognostic role of OSm in IBD *** Literature search was conducted in electronic databases(Google Scholar,embase,Pubmed,Science Direct,Springer,and Wiley).Studies were selected if they reported prognostic information about OSm in IBD *** data were synthesized,and meta-analyses were performed to estimate standardized mean differences(SmDs)in OSm levels between treatment responders and non-res-ponders and to seek overall correlations of OSm with other inflammatory *** Sixteen studies(818 Crohn’s disease and 686 ulcerative colitis patients treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor-based therapies)were *** levels were associated with IBD severity.A meta-analysis found significantly higher OSm levels in non-responders than in responders to therapy[SmD 0.80(0.33,1.27);P=0.001],in non-remitters than in remitters[SmD 0.75(95%CI:0.35 to 1.16);Pents with no mucosal healing than in those with mucosal heal-ing[SmD 0.63(0.30,0.95);Pea under receiver operator curve values showed considerable variability between studies but in general higher OSm levels were associated with poor *** had significant correlations with Simple endoscopic Score of Crohn’s disease[r=0.47(95%CI:0.25 to 0.64);Pmayo endoscopic Score[r=0.35(95%CI:0.28 to 0.41);Pecal calprotectin[r=0.19(95%CI:0.08 to 0.3);P=0.001],C-reactive protein[r=0.25(95%CI:0.11 to 0.39);Pelet count[r=0.28(95%CI:0.17 to 0.39);Pm is a potential candidate for determining the severity of disease and predicting the outcomes of anti-tumor necrosis factor-based therapies in IBD patients.

Ocean is full of low-frequency,irregular,and widely distributed wave energy,which is suitable as the energy source for maritime Internet of Things(IoTs).Utilizing triboelectric nanogenerators(TeNGs)to harvest ocean wave energy and power sensors is proven to be an effective ***,in random ocean waves,the irregular electrical energy output by general TeNGs restricts the *** present,achieving regularized water wave energy harvesting relies on rather complex mechanical structure designs,which is not conducive to *** this work,we proposed a novel mechanical controlled TeNG(mCTeNG)with a simple controlled switch to realize the regularization *** structural parameters of the mC-TeNG are optimized,and the optimal output voltage,output current,and transferred charge respectively reach 1684.2 V,85.4μA,and 389.9 nC,generating a peak power density of 38.46 W·m^(−3)·hz^(−1).Under real water wave environment,the output of the mC-TeNG is regularized and keeps stable regardless of any wave ***,the potential applications of the mC-TeNG are demonstrated in powering environmental temperature,humidity,and wind speed *** work renders a simple approach to achieve effective regularized ocean wave energy harvesting,promoting the TeNG industrialization toward practical application of maritime IoTs.

In this study,green zinc oxide(ZnO)/polypyrrole(Ppy)/cellulose acetate(CA)film has been synthesized via solvent *** film was used as supporting material for glucose oxidase(GOx)to sensitize a glucose *** nanoparticles have been prepared via the green route using olive leaves extract as a ***/Ppy nanocomposite has been synthesized by a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole(Py)monomer using ferric chloride(FeCl3)as an oxidizing *** produced materials and the composite films were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),scanning electron microscope(Sem),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).Glucose oxidase was successfully immobilized on the surface of the prepared film and then ZnO/Ppy/CA/GOx composite was sputtered with platinum electrode for the current determination at different initial concentrations of *** measurements proved the suitability and the high sensitivity of the constructed biosensor for the detection of glucose levels in different *** performance of the prepared biosensor has been assessed by measuring and comparing glucose concentrations up to 800 *** results affirmed the reliability of the developed biosensor towards real samples which suggests the wide-scale application of the proposed biosensor.
