Molecular dynamics （MD） computer simulation techniques, as a powerful tool commonly utilized by the liquid crystal display （LCD） community, usually are employed for computing the equilibrium and transport properties of a classical many body system, since they are very similar to real experiments in many respects. In this paper we pre- sent molecular dynamics computer simulation results taken for a mixture of the two different kinds of nematic liq- uid crystals （LCs）. We calculated rotational viscosity from Brownian behavior with friction of the mean director of the mixture comprising pentylcyanobiphenol （5CB） and decylcyanobiphenol （10CB） by using molecular dynamics computer simulation, where intermolecular potential parameter is Generalized AMBER force field （GAFF）. Our computed results show a good agreement with the experimental results.

Porous 2D materials with high conductivity and large surface area have been proposed for potential electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials in future mobility and wearable applications to prevent signal noise,transmission inaccuracy,system malfunction,and health ***,we report on the synthesis of lightweight and flexible flash-induced porous graphene(FPG)with excellent EMI shielding *** broad spectrum of pulsed flashlight induces photo-chemical and photo-thermal reactions in polyimide films,forming 5×10 cm^(2)-size porous graphene with a hollow pillar structure in a few *** resulting material demonstrated low density(0.0354 g cm^(−3))and outstanding absolute EMI shielding effectiveness of 1.12×10^(5) dB cm^(2) g^(−1).The FPG was characterized via thorough material analyses,and its mechanical durability and flexibility were confirmed by a bending cycle ***,the FPG was utilized in drone and wearable applications,showing effective EMI shielding performance for internal/external EMI in a drone radar system and reducing the specific absorption rate in the human body.

Preoperative defining system for pancreatic head cancer considering surgical resection

AIM: To provide appropriate treatment, it is crucial to share the clinical status of pancreas head cancer among multidisciplinary treatment ***: A retrospective analysis of the medical records of 113 patients who underwent surgery for pancreas head cancer from January 2008 to December 2012 was performed. We developed preoperative defining system of pancreatic head cancer by describing “resectability - tumor location - vascular relationship - adjacent organ involvement - preoperative CA19-9 (initial bilirubin level) - vascular anomaly”. The oncologic correlations with this reporting system were ***: Among 113 patients, there were 75 patients (66.4%) with resectable, 34 patients (30.1%) with borderline resectable, and 4 patients (3.5%) with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. Mean disease-free survival was 24.8 mo (95%CI: 19.6-30.1) with a 5-year disease-free survival rate of 13.5%. Pretreatment tumor size ≥ 2.4 cm [Exp(B) = 3.608, 95%CI: 1.512-8.609, P = 0.044] and radiologic vascular invasion [Exp(B) = 5.553, 95%CI: 2.269-14.589, P = 0.002] were independent predictive factors for neoadjuvant treatment. Borderline resectability [Exp(B) = 0.222, P = 0.008], pancreatic head cancer involving the pancreatic neck [Exp(B) = 9.461, P = 0.001] and arterial invasion [Exp(B) = 6.208, P = 0.010], and adjusted CA19-9 ≥ 50 [Exp(B) = 1.972 P = 0.019] were identified as prognostic clinical factors to predict tumor ***: The suggested preoperative defining system can help with designing treatment plans and also predict oncologic outcomes.

To predict changes in South Korean vegetation distribution,the Warmth Index(WI) and the Minimum Temperature of the Coldest Month Index(MTCI) were *** climate data of the past 30 years,from 1971 to 2000,was obtained from the Korea Meteorological *** Fifth-Generation National Center for Atmospheric Research(NCAR) /Penn State Mesoscale Model(MM5) was used as a source for future climatic data under the A1B scenario from the Special Report on Emission Scenario(SRES) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC).To simulate future vegetation distribution due to climate change,the optimal habitat ranges of Korean tree species were delimited by the thermal gradient indices,such as WI and *** categorize the Thermal Analogy Groups(TAGs) for the tree species,the WI and MTCI were orthogonally plotted on a two-dimensional grid *** TAGs were then designated by the analogue composition of tree species belonging to the optimal WI and MTCI *** a result of the clustering process,22 TAGs were generated to explain the forest vegetation distribution in *** primary change in distribution for these TAGs will likely be in the shrinkage of areas for the TAGs related to Pinus densiflora and ***,and in the expansion of the other TAG areas,mainly occupied by evergreen broad-leaved trees,such as Camellia japonica,Cyclobalanopsis glauca,and Schima *** the TAGs to explain the effects of climate change on vegetation distribution on a more regional scale resulted in greater detail than previously used global or continental scale vegetation models.

The abstract roller-compacted concrete （RCC） is a zero slump concrete comprising the same materials as that of conventional concrete with different proportions. The RCC must be compacted to reach its final form. The effects of hydration and aggregate interlock on its strength are considerable. For similar binder contents, the compressive strength of the RCC is generally higher than that of the conventional concrete; however, the tensile strength of RCC may not be superior to that of the conventional concrete. Adequate tensile strength is necessary to resist fatigue cracking, particularly in pavement applications. However, the compressive strength is frequently used in assessing the quality control and quality assurance of pavements. Therefore, the relationship between the compressive and tensile strengths of the RCC should be analyzed. Unfortunately, only a few studies have been conducted on this relationship. The objective of this study is to identify the difference between the indirect tensile strengths of the RCC and those of the conventional concrete as well as develop relationship equations to evaluate the compressive and tensile strengths. In this study, regression equations are developed to estimate the indirect tensile strengths, which are known as flexural and splitting tensile strengths, using the compressive strength of the RCC. The results show that the flexural strength of the RCC is within the predicted values obtained from the conventional concrete equations for a given compressive strength. In contrast, the splitting tensile strength of the RCC is relatively lower than that of the conventional concrete for the given compressive strength.

We present a case of a 56-year-old man with 3 synchronous gastric tumors. The patient presented with melena, and 3 gastric abnormalities were detected on gastroduodenoscopic examination, including a small ulcerative lesion in the gastric antrum, a submucosal mass in the gastric body, and severe erosion in the fundus. Histological examination of biopsy samples yielded respective diagnoses of gastric adenocarcinoma, gastritis, and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT) lymphoma. The patient first received medication to eradicate any underlying Helicobacter pylori infection, which might have been a cause of the MALT lymphoma. Four weeks later, after examination of repeat biopsy samples revealed that the MALT lymphoma had resolved, the patient underwent subtotal gastrectomy. Further histological examination of resected tissue confirmed the antrum lesion as adenocarcinoma and the body lesion as schwannoma. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of synchronous triple primary gastric adenocarcinoma, MALT lymphoma, and schwannoma.

As a novel piezoelectric material, the mechanical and piezoelectric properties of cellulose electro-active paper (EAPap) were studied. Young's modulus of piezoelectric EAPap was dependant on the material orientation as compared with other EAP materials. The highest Young's modulus was obtained at 0° direction, while the highest direct piezoelectric charge constant was achieved at 45°. By measuring the induced output voltage from the thin piezoelectric cellulose film under the applied impact force, we demonstrate that piezoelectric EAPap film has a potential for sensor applications.

We investigate how a firm’s corporate pledgeable asset ownership(CPAO)affects the risk of future stock price *** pledgeable asset ownership and crash risk data for a large sample of ***,we provide novel empirical evidence that a firm’s risk of a future stock price crash decreases with an increase in its pledgeable *** main findings are valid after conducting various robustness *** channel tests reveal that firms with pledgeable assets increase their collateral value,thereby enhancing corporate transparency and limiting bad news hoarding,resulting in lower stock price crash ***,the results show that having more pledgeable assets enables easier access to external financing,making it less likely that managers will hoard bad news.
