Structure and properties of graphullerene: a semiconducting two-dimensional C_(60) crystal

A new cryptand/paraquat [2]pseudorotaxane

A new cryptand/paraquat [2]pseudorotaxane and its crown ether analog were synthesized and characterized by proton nMR, mass spectrometry, and single crystal X-ray analysis. The Job plots based on proton nMR data demonstrated that both the complex between cryptand 1 and paraquat derivative 2a and the complex between bis(p-phenylene)-34-crown-10 (3) and paraquat derivative 2b have 1:1 stoichiometry in solution. The apparent association constants (Ka,exp) of 1·2a and 3·2b calculated for 1:1 complexes were 1.4 (±0.2) × 104 and 4.7 (± 0.5) × 102 M-1, respectively. X-ray analysis showed that 1·2a is stabilized by ten hydrogen bonds and face-to-face π-stacking interactions in the solid state, while 3·2b is stabilized by four hydrogen bonds and face-to-face π-stacking interactions. As well as in the X-ray structure of 1·2c, a water molecule acts as a hydrogen bridge between the β-pyridinium protons of 2a and the ether oxygen atoms of 1 in 1·2a. The successful preparation of 1·2a demonstrated that the tert-butyl group is not big enough to be a stopper for rotaxanes based on 1.

A Relative Theory for Leibniz n-Algebras

In this paper we show that for an n-Filippov algebra g, the tensor power g ^n-1 is endowed with a structure of anti-symmetric co-representation over the Leibniz algebra g ^n-1. This co-representation is used to define some relative theories for Leibniz n-algebras with n 〉 2 and obtain exact sequences relating them. As a result, we construct a spectral sequence for the Leibniz homology of Filippov algebras.

The fortuitously discovered liver lesion is a common problem. Consensus might be expected in terms of its work-up, and yet there is none. This stems in part from the fact that there is no preventive campaign involving the early detection of liver tumors other than for patients with known liver cirrhosis and oncological patients. The work-up (detection and differential diagnosis) of liver tumors comprises theoretical considerations, history, physical examination, laboratory tests, standard ultrasound, Doppler ultrasound techniques, contrastenhanced ultrasound (CEUS), computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, as well as imageguided biopsy. CEUS techniques have proved to be the most pertinent method; these techniques became part of the clinical routine about 10 years ago in Europe and Asia and are used for a variety of indications in daily clinical practice. CEUS is in many cases the first and also decisive technical intervention for detecting and characterizing liver tumors. This development is reflected in many CEUS guidelines, e.g. , in the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB) guidelines 2004, 2008 and 2012 as well as the recently published World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology-EFSUMB guidelines 2012. This article sets out considerations for making a structured work-up of incidental liver tumors feasible.

A new Elliptic Measure on Lower Dimensional Sets

The recent years have seen a beautiful breakthrough culminating in a comprehensive understanding of certain scale-invariant properties of n-1 dimensional sets across analysis, geometric measure theory, and PDEs. The present paper surveys the first steps of a program recently launched by the authors and aimed at the new PDE approach to sets with lower dimensional boundaries. We define a suitable class of degenerate elliptic operators, explain our intuition, motivation, and goals, and present the first results regarding absolute continuity of the emerging elliptic measure with respect to the surface measure analogous to the classical theorems of C. Kenig and his collaborators in the case of co-dimension one.

Comparing growth and fine root distribution in monocultures and mixed plantations of hybrid poplar and spruce

Disease prevention, biodiversity, productivity improvement and ecological considerations are all factors that contribute to increasing interest in mixed plantations. The objective of this study was to evaluate early growth and productivity of two hybrid poplar clones, P. balsamifera x trichocarpa （PBT） and P. maximowiczii x balsamifera （PMB）, one improved family of norway spruce （Picea glauca （PA）） and one improved family of white spruce （Picea abies （PG）） growing under different spacings in monocultures and mixed plots. The plantations were established in 2003 in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, Canada, in a split plot design with spacing as the whole plot factor （1 × 1 m, 3 × 3 m and 5 × 5 m） and mixture treatments as subplot factor （pure： PBT, PMB, PA and PG, and 1：1 mixture PBT：PA, PBT：PG, PMB：PA and PMB：PG）. Results showed a beneficial effect of the hybrid poplar-spruce mixture on diameter growth for hybrid poplar clones, but not for the 5 × 5 m spacing because of the relatively young age of the plantations. Diameter growth of the spruces decreased in mixed plantings in the 1 × 1 m, while their height growth increased, resulting in similar aboveground biomass per tree across treatments. Because of the large size differences between spruces and poplars, aboveground biomass in the mixed plantings was generally less than that in pure poplar plots. Leaf nitrogen concentration for the two spruce families and hybrid poplar clone PMB was greater in mixed plots than in monocultures, while leaf nitrogen concentration of clone PBT was similar among mixture treatments. Because of its faster growth rate and greater soil resources demands, clone PMB was the only one showing an increase in leaf n with increased spacing between trees. Fine roots density was greater for both hybrid poplars than spruces. The vertical distribution of fine roots was insensitive to mixture treatment.

The“Bitcoin Generator Scam”(BGS)is a cyberattack in which scammers promise to provide victims with free cryptocurrencies in exchange for a small mining *** this paper,we present a data-driven system to detect,track,and analyze the *** works as follows:we first formulate search queries related to BGS and use search engines to find potential instances of the *** then use a crawler to access these pages and a classifier to differentiate actual scam instances from benign ***,we automatically monitor the BGS instances to extract the cryptocurrency addresses used in the scam.A unique feature of our system is that it proactively searches for and detects the scam ***,we can find addresses that have not yet received any *** data collection project spanned 16 months,from november 2019 to February *** uncovered more than 8,000 cryptocurrency addresses directly associated with the scam,hosted on over 1,000 ***,these addresses have received around 8.7 million USD,with an average of 49.24 USD per *** 70%of the active addresses that we are capturing are detected before they receive any transactions,that is,before anyone is *** also present some post-processing analysis of the dataset that we have captured to aggregate attacks that can be reasonably confidently linked to the same attacker or *** system is one of the first academic feeds to the APWG eCrime Exchange *** has been actively and automatically feeding the database since november 2020.

Plasmon resonant amplification of a hot electron-driven photodiode

We report plasmon resonant excitation of hot electrons in a photodetector based on a metal/oxide/metal （Au/Al2O3/graphene） heterostructure. In this device, hot electrons, excited optically in the gold layer, jump over the oxide barrier and are injected into the graphene layer, producing a photocurrent. To amplify this process, the bottom gold electrode is patterned into a plasmon resonant grating structure with a pitch of 500 nm. The photocurrent produced in this device is measured using 633-nm-wavelength light as a function of incident angle. We observe the maximum photocurrent at ＋10° from normal incidence under irradiation with light polarized parallel to the incident plane （p-polarization） and perpendicular to the lines on the grating, and a constant （angle-independent） photocurrent under irradiation with light polarized perpendicular to the incident plane （s-polarization） and parallel to the grating. These data show an amplification factor of 4.6× under resonant conditions. At the same angle （±10°）, we also observe sharp dips in the photoreflectance corresponding to wavevector matching between the incident light and the plasmon mode in the grating. In addition, finite-difference time-domain simulations predict sharp dips in the photoreflectance at ±10°, and the electric field intensity profiles show clear excitation of a plasmon resonant mode when illuminated with p-polarized light at this angle.

Knowledge of an animal＇s home range is a crucial component in making informed management decisions. However, many home range studies are limited by study area size, and therefore may underestimate the size of the home range. In many cases, individuals have been shown to travel outside of the study area and utilize a larger area than estimated by the study design. In this study, data collected by multiple research groups studying bottlenose dolphins on the east coast of Florida were combined to determine how home range estimates increased with increasing study area size. Home range analyses utilized photo-identification data collected from 6 study areas throughout the St Johns River （S JR; Jacksonville, FL, USA） and adjacent waterways, extending a total of 253km to the southern end of Mosquito Lagoon in the Indian River Lagoon Estuarine System. Univariate kernel density estimates （KDEs） were computed for individuals with 10 or more sightings （n= 20）. Kernels were calculated for the primary study area （S JR） first, then additional kernels were calculated by combining the S JR and the next adjacent waterway; this continued in an additive fashion until all study areas were included. The 95% and 50% KDEs calculated for the S JR alone ranged from 21 to 35 km and 4 to 19 kin, respectively. The 95% and 50% KDEs calculated for all combined study areas ranged from 116 to 217 km and 9 to 70 km, respectively. This study illustrates the degree to which home range may be underestimated by the use of limited study areas and demonstrates the benefits of conducting collaborative science.
