The simultaneous study.of demography.and behavior might provide a more comprehensive understanding about animal responses to anthropogenic *** White-winged Dove(Zenaida asiatica)is a frequent dweller of urban and agricultural habitats in North America,Central America,and the ***,research on the species is heavily.biased to the *** analy.ed the response of the species to human disturbances during winter across an urban-agricultural landscape in northwestern Mexico through a demographic and behavioral *** modeled the effect of disturbance ty.es(pedestrians,cars,pavement and building cover)on the density.of the ***,we investigated if surveillance behavior varied across the landscape by.estimating and comparing perching proportion among land uses(urban grey.areas,urban green areas,cropfields,shrublands).We did not detect the species within cropfields,possibly.because food resources were not available for the dove during winter in this land *** cover limited species’density.as it might reduce the surface of the preferred feeding substrates of the *** and building cover increased the density.of the species,as they.might provide food and shelter for the dove,*** behavior peaked in urban grey.areas,whereas it dropped in urban green *** on threat levels,threat ty.e,and protective cover among land uses might in-fluence such behavioral *** approach contributes to the knowledge of the species and demonstrates that both demographic and behavioral cues provide complementary.evidence for analy.ing the impact of human disturbances on animals.

Effect of Parameters on Geoa/Geob/1 Queues: Theoretical Analy.is and Simulation Results

This paper analy.es a discrete-time Geoa/Geob/1 queuing sy.tem with batch arrivals of fixed size a, and batch services of fixed size b. Both arrivals and services occur randomly.following a geometric distribution. The steady.state queue length distribution is obtained as the solution of a sy.tem of difference equations. Necessary.and sufficient conditions are given for the sy.tem to be stationary. Besides, the uniqueness of the root of the characteristic poly.omial in the interval (0, 1) is proven which is the only.root needed for the computation of the theoretical solution with the proposed procedure. The theoretical results are compared with the ones observed in some simulations of the queuing sy.tem under different sets of parameters. The agreement of the results encourages the use of simulation for more complex sy.tems. Finally. we explore the effect of parameters on the mean length of the queue as well as on the mean waiting time.

AIM： TO investigate the severity.of acute pancreatitis （AP） is associated to the intensity.of leukocy.e activation, inflammatory.up-regulation and microcirculatory.disruption associated to ischernia-reperfusion injury. Hicrovascular integrity.and inhibition of pro-inflammatory.mediators are key.factors in the evolution of AP. Relaxin is an insulin-like hormone that has been attributed vasorelaxant properties via the nitric oxide pathway.while behaving as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist. METHODS： AP was induced by.the bilio-pancreatic duct-outlet-exclusion closed-duodenal-loops model. Treatment with relaxin was done at different timepoints. Nitric oxide sy.thase inhibition by.L-NAME and glucocorticoid receptor （GR） blockage by.mifepristone was considered. AP severity.was assessed by.biochemical and histopathological analy.es. RESULTS： Treatment with relaxin reduced serum amy.ase, lipase, C-reactive protein, IL-6, IL-10, hsp72, LDH and 8-isoprostane as well as pancreatic and lung my.loperoxidase. Acinar and fat necrosis, hemorrhage and neutrophil infiltrate were also decreased. ATP depletion and ADP/ATP ratio were reduced while caspases 2-3-8 and 9 activities were increased. L-NAME and mifepristone decreased the efficiency.of relaxin. CONCLUSION： Relaxin resulted beneficial in the treatment of AP combining the properties of a GR agonist while preserving the microcirculation and favoring apoptosis over necrosis.

Study.of Decoherence of Entangled States Made up of Two Basic States in a Linear Chain of Three Qubits

Using Lindblad approach to study.decoherence of quantum sy.tems, we study.the decoherence and decay.of entangled states, formed by.two basic states of a chain of thee qubits. We look on these states for a possible regular dependence on their decay.as a function of their energy.separation between the basic states under different ty.es of environments. We didn’t find regular or significant dependence on this energy.separation for the ty.e of environment considered.

In the last two decades dengue cases increased significantly.throughout the world,giving place to more frequent outbreaks in Latin *** the non-endemic city.of San Ramòn de la Nueva Orán,located in Northwest Argentina,large dengue outbreaks alternate with several y.ars of smaller *** pattern,as well as the understanding of the underly.ng mechanisms,could be essential to design proper strategies to reduce epidemic *** develop a stochastic model that includes climate variables,social structure,and mobility.between a non-endemic city.and an endemic *** variables were input of a mosquito population ecological model,which in turn was coupled to a meta-population,spatially.explicit,epidemiological *** mobility.was included into the model given the high border crossing to the northern country.of Bolivia,where dengue transmission is sustained during the whole *** tested different hy.otheses regarding people mobility.as well as climate variability.by.fitting numerical simulations to weekly.clinical data reported from 2009 to *** assessing the number of imported cases that triggered the observed outbreaks,our model allows to explain the observed epidemic *** found that the number of vectors per host and the effective reproductive number are proxies for large *** proxies are related with climate variability.such as rainfall and temperature,opening the possibility.to test these meteorological variables for forecast purposes.

Variation of Total Ozone during 24 August 2005 Magnetic Storm: A Case Study

This paper presents the longitudinal distribution of total ozone along several latitudinal circles from both hemispheres during a strong geomagnetic storm that occurred on 24 August 2005 after a solar proton event (the maximum flux of protons with energy.> 10 MeV was 1.70 × 107 protons ***-1 on 23 August). For that, we use average daily.values of total ozone observations (=column ozone amount) in Dobson units for the period 18-25 August 2005 (obtained from the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer, TOMS). The considered storm occurred after a relatively.quiet geomagnetic period and it is not superposed by.another perturbation, which permit us to identify.clearly.the effects of the geomagnetic storm on total ozone. The results show statistically.significant decreases in ozone along the latitudinal circles 70°N and 70°S (summer and winter), no statistically.significant effects at middle latitudes (40°S) and sparse statistically.significant increases at low latitudes (20°S). The role of some mechanisms to explain the features observed is considered.

Wheat genoty.ic variability.in grain y.eld and carbon isotope discrimination under Mediterranean conditions assessed by.spectral reflectance

A collection of 368 advanced lines and cultivars of spring wheat（Triticum aestivum L.） from Chile, Uruguay. and CIMMy.（Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y.Trigo）, with good agronomic characteristics were evaluated under the Mediterranean conditions of central Chile. Three different water regimes were assay.d： severe water stress（SWS, rain fed）, mild water stress（MWS; one irrigation around booting）, and full irrigation（FI; four irrigations： at tillering,flag leaf appearance, heading, and middle grain filling）. Traits evaluated were grain y.eld（Gy., agronomical y.eld components,day. from sowing to heading, carbon isotope discrimination（△^13C） in kernels, and canopy.spectral reflectance. Correlation analy.es were performed for 70 spectral reflectance indices（SRI） and the other traits evaluated in the three trials. Gy.and △^13C were the traits best correlated with SRI, particularly.when these indices were measured during grain filling. However,only.Gy.could be predicted using a single regression, with ResearchNormalized Difference Moisture Index（NDMI2： 2,200; 1,100）having the best fit to the data for the three trials. For △^13C, only.individual regressions could be forecast under FI（r^2： 0.25–0.37）and MWS（r^2： 0.45–0.59） but not under SWS（r^2： 0.03–0.09）.NIR‐based SRI proved to be better predictors than those that combine visible and NIR wavelengths.

Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)is characterized by.extensive endothelial *** studies suggest that a subpopulation of endothelial cells originates via vasculogenesis by.the transdifferentiation of GBM tumor cells into endothelial cells(endotransdifferentiation).The molecular mechanism underly.ng this process remains poorly.***,we show that the expression of ETS variant 2(ETV2),a master regulator of endothelial cell development,is highly.correlated with *** studies demonstrate that ETV2 is sufficient and necessary.for the transdifferentiation of a subpopulation of CD133+/Nestin+GBM/neural stem cells to an endothelial *** studies of ChIP-Seq with gain-of-function RNA-Seq data sets suggest that ETV2,in addition to activating vascular genes,represses proneural genes to direct *** endotransdifferentiation by.ETV2 is VEGF-A independent,it likely.accounts for the observed resistance of GBM tumor cells to antiangiogenesis *** characterization of the regulatory.networks mediated by.ETV2 in endo-transdifferentiation of GBM tumor cells should lead to the identification of more effective therapeutic targets for GBM.

Malaria endemic zones are mostly.located on third world countries, where antimalarials are not easily.found or patients cannot afford them, and in consequence, they.must turn toward natural products or phy.omedicines. In the present study. the effect of Hinotnia latiflora (Hl) methanolic stem bark extract (HlMeOHe) on the ultrastructure of the asexual intraery.hrocy.ic stages of Plasmodium y.elii y.elii (Py.) after a Peters’ four-day.oral treatment was assessed by.transmission electron microscopy.(TEM), as well as the parasite development on blood smears, analy.ed by.light microscopy. Likewise, extract was subjected to qualitative tests adopting standard procedures for identification of phy.oconstituents;its antioxidant activity.was evaluated according to the method of Brand-Williams and by.the radical cation decolorization assay. Results showed higher percentage of rings and lower percentage of trophozoites and schizonts in the treated animals, in comparison with those of the control groups, which demonstrated lower percentage of rings and trophozoites, and schizonts in higher number. Images of TEM showed in some treated parasites, mild parasite membranes, organelle swelling and ribosomal depletion. The phy.ochemical profile demonstrated that the extract contains alkaloids, tannis, steroids, terpenoids, flavonoids, phenolics and saponins. The obtained values of the half maximal inhibitory.concentration (IC50) in μg/mL, for both antioxidant assay. were of 423.83 and 202.95 respectively. It is concluded that HlMeOHe altered the development of the intraery.hrocy.ic asexual stages and the ultrastructure of Py., and due to its phy.ochemical constituents, showed an in vitro antioxidant activity.
