Biop.lymer.Sp.nge for.High Gr.de r.nal Tr.uma: An Exp.r.mental Study in r.bbits

Intr.duction: Acute blunt or.op.n r.nal tr.uma sometimes r.quir.s conser.ative measur. which involves the use of sp.cific mater.als in or.er.to adequately r.stor. r.nal p.r.nchima. The p.r.ose of this study is to analyze the effects of the sugar.cane biop.lymer.sp.nge in an exp.r.mental model of r.nal tr.uma in r.bbits. Methods: Exp.r.mental p.0}sp.ctive study was p.ir.d with twelve New Zealand r.bbits. After.induction of r.nal tr.uma bilater.l high-gr.de (gr.de 4-collecting system, accor.ing to AAST), the sugar.cane biop.lymer.sp.nge was used for.homeostasis and r.constr.ction of the r.ght r.nal p.r.nchyma (exp.r.mental gr.up.. The same p.0}cedur. was p.r.or.ed in the left kidney, but using the Sur.ifoam? sp.nge (Contr.l Gr.up.. The animals wer. sacr.ficed after.four.weeks. Histological analysis was p.r.or.ed and the r.sults wer. comp.r.d after.statistically being evaluated. r.sults: Comp.r.ng the exp.r.mental gr.up.with the contr.l, ther. was mor. inflammator. r.action and p.0}matur. adhesions in the fir.t one. Concer.ing the influence on efficacy and biocomp.tibility of the biop.lymer. no ser.ous comp.ications like massive bleeding, haematoma, fistula or.ur.nar. stone for.ation wer. found in both gr.up.. Conclusion: The sugar.cane biop.lymer.sp.nge demonstr.ted good efficacy in r.lation to hemostatic contr.l and r.constr.ction of the r.nal p.r.nchyma without major.comp.ications. Futur. studies may dir.ct its r.utine use in ur.logic p.0}ctice.

Theor.tical investigation on the str.ctur.s of the octacoor.inated [Nd(CO3)4]5-and the nonacoor.inated [Nd(CO3)***2]5-comp.exes, using the Sp.r.LE p.r.meter. of the lanthanides within MOp.C, r.vealed that they p.ssessed dodecahedr.l and squar. antip.0}smatic str.ctur.s r.sp.ctively with an aver.ge Nd-O distance of 0.249 nm. These str.ctur.s and the Nd-O distances agr.ed well with those exp.r.mentally found in the cr.stal str.ctur.s. r.p.acing the water.molecule with a fluor.de ion or.a mondentatecar.onato ligand r.sulted in a nonacoor.inated distor.ed squar. antip.0}smatic str.ctur.s wher. the tr.ns-car.onato gr.up. wer. twisted. The cor.esp.nding decacoor.inated str.ctur.s with two fluor.de ions or.a bidentatecar.onato gr.up. [Nd(CO3)4·F2]7-and [Nd(CO3)5]7-, wer. also investigated. In both cases consider.ble twisting of the tr.nscar.onato gr.up. was obser.ed.

The p.stil, the female r.p.0}ductive or.an of p.ants, is a key p.ayer.in the success of sexual p.ant r.p.0}duction. Ultimately, the p.0}duction of fr.its and seeds dep.nds on the p.0}p.r.p.stil develop.ent and function. Ther.for., the identification and char.cter.zation of p.stil exp.0}ssed genes is essential for.a better.under.tanding and manip.lation of the p.ant r.p.0}duction p.0}cess. For.studying the function of p.stil exp.0}ssed genes, tr.nsgenic and/or.mutant p.ants for.the genes of inter.st ar. used. The p.0}sent ar.icle p.0}vides a r.view of methods alr.ady exp.oited to analyze sexual r.p.0}ductive success. We intend to sup.ly useful infor.ation and to guide futur. exp.r.ments in the study of genes affecting p.stil develop.ent and function.

In this study, a commer.ial cube-shap.d op.n-celled cellulose sp.nge adsor.ent was modified by in-situ co-p.0}cip.tation of sup.r.ar.magnetic ir.n oxide nanop.r.icles(Sp.ON) and used to r.move As(V) fr.m aqueous solutions. Fe K-edge X-r.y absor.tion sp.ctr.scop.(XAS) and TEM identified maghemite as the main ir.n p.ase of the Sp.ON nanop.r.icles with an aver.ge size 13 nm. Batch adsor.tion exp.r.ments at 800 mg/L showed a 63% incr.ase of adsor.tion cap.city when loading 2.6 wt.% mass fr.ction of Sp.ON in the *** deter.ination of the adsor.tion ther.odynamic p.r.meter. indicated that the As(V) adsor.tion on the comp.site mater.al is a sp.ntaneous and exother.ic *** K-edge XAS r.sults confir.ed that the adsor.tion enhancement on the comp.site can be attr.buted to the nanop.r.icles loaded. In addition, adsor.ed As(V) did not get r.duced to mor. toxic As(Ⅲ) and for.ed a binuclear.cor.er.shar.ng comp.ex with Sp.ON. The advantageous cube-shap. of the sp.nge-loaded Sp.ON comp.site together.with its high affinity and good adsor.tion cap.city for.As(V), good r.gener.tion cap.bility and the enhanceddiffusion attr.buted to its op.n-celled str.ctur. make this adsor.ent a good candidate for.industr.al ap.lications.

Fir.t r.p.r. of L1014F kdr.mutation in Culex quinquefasciatus in Mexico

The L1014F mutation in the voltage-sodium channel gene has been associated with r.sistance to DDT and p.r.thr.ids in var.ous ar.hr.p.d sp.cies including mosquitoes. We deter.ined the fr.quency of the L1014F kdr.mutation in 16 field p.p.lations of Culex quinquefasciatus fr.m Nor.heaster. Mexico collected between 2008 and 2013. The L1014F was p.0}sent in all p.p.lations analyzed with the lowest fr.quency （3.33%） cor.esp.nding to the p.p.lation fr.m Monclova collected in 2012, and the highest fr.quency （63.63%） fr.m the Monter.ey p.p.lation collected in 2012. The p.0}sence of a kdr.mutation in p.p.lations of Cx. quinquefasciatus fr.m nor.heaster. Mexico p.0}vides evidence ofp.r.thr.id r.sistance. This r.quir.s a sp.cial attention, consider.ng that p.r.thr.id-based insecticides ar. commonly used in vector.contr.l camp.igns, esp.cially against Aedes aegyp.i （L.）.
