Particulate organic matter(pom)is an important energy source for aquatic consumers,understanding its origin and composition is essential for understanding the energetic dynamics of aquatic *** aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between pom and phytoplankton(isotopic values and chlorophyll concentration)and abiotic variables during dry and rainy *** was conducted in rivers and lagoons in the floodplain of the Upper Paraná*** found a greater difference in ^(δ13)C values of pom between sampling points than between seasons,indicating that the composition of regional sources influences the composition of pom more than dry and rainy *** addition,the concentration of chlorophyll during the dry season was positively correlated with ^(δ13)C values during that rainy ***,we found a relationship between factors limiting the growth of phytoplankton and ^(δ13)C values of pom,such as phosphate ions,indicating that variables that regulate phytoplankton growth tend to influence the composition of pom in river ***,maintaining the variables that regulate the phytoplankton community is of fundamental importance for the composition of pom,an important energy source in aquatic environments.

Antimicrobial activity of calcium hydroxide and chlorhexidine on intratubular Candida albicans

This study investigated the efficacy of calcium hydroxide and chlorhexidine gel for the elimination of intratubular Candida albicans (***).Human single-rooted teeth contaminated with *** were treated with calcium hydroxide,2%chlorhexidine gel, calcium hydroxide plus 2%chlorhexidine gel,or saline(0.9%sodium chloride) as a positive *** samples obtained at depths of 0-100 and 100-200μm from the root canal system were analyzed for *** load by counting the number of colony forming units and for the percentage of viable *** using fluorescence ***,the antimicrobial activity of calcium hydroxide and the 2%chlorhexidine gel was evaluated by counting the number of colony forming *** 14 days of intracanal medication,there was a significant decrease in the number of *** colony forming units at a depth of 0-100μm with chlorhexidine treatment either with or without calcium hydroxide compared with the calcium hydroxide only ***,there were no differences in the number of colony forming units at the 100-200μm depth for any of the medications *** viability was also evaluated by vital staining techniques and fluorescence microscopy *** activity against *** significantly increased at both depths in the chlorhexidine groups with and without calcium hydroxide compared with the groups treated with calcium hydroxide *** with only chlorhexidine or chlorhexidine in combination with calcium hydroxide were effective for elimination of ***.
