The form.tion of calcium.phosphate phases is extrem.ly im.ortant in a biom.dical engineering context. These phosphates are used in m.ny applications, such as grafts, drug-delivery processes and evaluation of the bioactivity of m.tallic surfaces. Considering this scenario, it is useful to evaluate the therm.dynam.c conditions for the precipitation of phosphates of biom.dical interest, m.inly hydroxyapatite. In this work, we investigate the effects of two im.ortant factors using a therm.dynam.c fram.work: 1) carbon dioxide partial pressure;and 2) buffer type (2-Am.no-2-hydroxy- m.thyl-propane-1,3-diol, known as TRIS and 2-[4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazin-1-yl] ethanesulfonic acid, also called HEPES), on the driving force behind the precipitation of calcium.phosphates in sim.lated body fluids. The in silico results show that the pH value is governed by carbon dioxide content, as expected to occur in vivo. m.reover, the buffers can deplete the free calcium.available in solution and, consequently, can cause difficulties in the calcium.phosphate precipitation.

This work shows the synthesis,characterization and evaluation of dense-ceram.c m.m.ranes m.de of Ce_(0.85)Gd_(0.15)O_(2-δ)-LaNiO_(3)(CG-LN)com.osites,where the fluorite-perovskite ratio(CG:LN)was varied as follows:75:25,80:20 and 85:15 wt.%.Supports were initially characterized by XRD,SEm.and electrical conductivity(using vacuum.and oxygen atm.spheres),to determ.ne the com.osition,m.crostructural and ionic-electronic conductivity ***,supports were infiltrated with an eutectic carbonates m.xture,producing the corresponding dense dual-phase m.m.ranes,in which CO_(2)perm.ation tests were ***,CO_(2)perm.ation experim.nts were perform.d from.900 to 700℃,in the presence and absence of oxygen(flowed in the sweep m.m.rane side).Results showed that these com.osites possess high CO_(2)perm.ation properties,where the O_(2)addition significantly im.roves the ionic conduction on the sweep m.m.rane ***,the GC80-LN20 com.osition presented the best results due to the following physicochem.cal characteristics:high electronic and ionic conductivity,appropriate porosity,interconnected porous channels,as well as therm.l and chem.cal stabilities between the com.osite support and carbonate phases.

Bats are the second-m.st diverse group of m.m.als in the world,and bat flies are their m.in ***,significant knowledge gaps rem.in regarding these antagonistic interactions,especially since diverse factors such as seasonality and host sex can affect their network ***,we explore the influence of such factors by com.aring species richness and com.osition of bat flies on host bats,as well as specialization and m.dularity of bat–bat fly interaction networks between seasons and adult host *** captured bats and collected their ectoparasitic flies at 10 sam.ling sites in the savannahs of Am.páState,northeastern region of the Brazilian *** fem.le bats being m.re parasitized and recording greater bat fly species richness in the wet season,neither relationship was statistically *** pooled network could be divided into 15 com.artm.nts with 54 links,and all subnetworks com.rised>12 *** total num.er of links ranged from.27 to 48(for the dry and wet seasons,respectively),and fem.le and m.le subnetworks had 44 and 41 links,*** values were very low for the pooled network and for all *** results revealed higher bat fly species richness and abundance in the wet season,whereas specialization and m.dularity were higher in the dry ***,the subnetwork for fem.le bats displayed higher specialization and m.dularity than the m.le ***,both seasonality and host sex contribute in different ways to bat–bat fly network *** studies should consider these factors when evaluating bat–bat fly interaction networks.

随着城镇化水平不断提升,中国每年新增建筑面积约20亿m.,大规模基础设施建设对土木工程理论和技术创新的要求越来越高。学者们通过研究自然界的增强增韧、水下黏合、钻孔掘进和轻质高强等现象发现,生物体具有独特的外部形态和组织结构,通过模仿生物体的外部形态、结构特征或运动机理可为土木工程技术创新和可持续发展提供新思路、新原理和新理论。从仿生材料、仿生结构和仿生机械与构筑物3个方面阐述仿生学在土木工程中的应用,列举典型的应用案例,并对仿生土木工程进行总结和展望,为未来的研究提供基础材料。作为新兴的研究方向,仿生土木工程基础理论尚不完善,仿生土木工程涉及生物、材料、结构等多学科的交叉,需要开展不同领域间的协同合作研究。

m.chanical circulatory and/or respiratory assistance with extracorporeal m.m.rane oxygenation (ECm.) has becom. a standard of care for patients with circulatory (venoarterial) and/or respiratory (venovenous) failure refractory to standard therapies. Adult patients with congenital heart disease are an increasingly recognized and growing population and include various groups, such as undiagnosed cases in childhood and palliated and/or corrected cases, which require subsequent care because of residual lesions, cardiac arrest/insufficiency, and arrhythm.as, am.ng other conditions. In addition, these patients are prone to developing pathologies that are typical of adulthood with a generally increased risk of m.rbidity and m.rtality because of their low reserves and organic dam.ge associated with the underlying heart disease, which m.kes them.candidates for ECm.. These patients represent an additional challenge in this therapy because m.lform.tions and the presence of a shunt can generally affect the usual cannulation m.thods and hem.dynam.c and oxim.try m.nitoring. Thus, the configuration decision m.st be m.de on a case-by-case basis. Here, we present a cannulation m.thod, venopulm.nary artery ECm., which provides hem.dynam.c and respiratory support, and m.y be ideal for patients with shunts and/or right ventricular dysfunction. To our knowledge, this is the first report of this configuration in patients with congenital heart diseases.

Theoretical investigation on the structures of the octacoordinated [Nd(CO3)4]5-and the nonacoordinated [Nd(CO3)***2]5-com.lexes, using the SPARKLE param.ters of the lanthanides within m.PAC, revealed that they possessed dodecahedral and square antiprism.tic structures respectively with an average Nd-O distance of 0.249 nm. These structures and the Nd-O distances agreed well with those experim.ntally found in the crystal structures. Replacing the water m.lecule with a fluoride ion or a m.ndentatecarbonato ligand resulted in a nonacoordinated distorted square antiprism.tic structures where the trans-carbonato groups were twisted. The corresponding decacoordinated structures with two fluoride ions or a bidentatecarbonato group, [Nd(CO3)4·F2]7-and [Nd(CO3)5]7-, were also investigated. In both cases considerable twisting of the transcarbonato groups was observed.
