In this paper, the behavior of TEC at three stations located in the Arctic and Antarctic sectors during some intense geomagnetic storms in the period 2012-2016 is analyzed. The results show the opposite storm effects in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Both the positive and negative TEC disturbances presented more fluctuations over the Arctic stations than over the Antarctic stations. moreover, the positive TEC disturbances were more significant in winter. The negative disturbances were generally long-lasting,sometimes interrupted by short-duration positive disturbances. Overall, the increases and decreases in TEC can be mainly attributed to changes(i.e., increase and decreases in the O/N_2 ratio respectively) in the thermospheric composition, but prompt penetration electric field could be responsible for the initial TEC disturbances. The thermospheric circulation and the disturbance dynamo, which are maintained due to prolonged high-energy input at high latitudes, can also play important roles at the end of main phase and during recovery phase.

The fires and biomass burning are responsible for affect ecosystem processes in a wide range of biomes at regional and global *** Brazil,the state of mato Grosso is one of the most affected by the occurrence of forest ***,this study aims to quantify the longterm changes in the temporal and spatial patterns of fire occurrence and their effect on gross primary productivity(GPP)in the state of mato Grosso,Brazil,considering the biomes that compose *** images used in the study were acquired by satellite Terra and Aqua combined in the product mCD64A1.006,a monthly resolution of 500m by the moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(mODIS)sensor,during the period from 01/10/2000 to 12/31/*** mOD17A2 product derived from the mODIS sensor provides the accumulated value of *** points without the presence of burning presented higher values of GPP for all studied *** some points with the presence of burning the GPP even decreased by 44.20%,30.04%and 55.78%for Amazonia,Cerrado,and Pantanal,*** to the results presented here,it is concluded that the burnings negatively impact gross primary production in the biomes of the state of mato Grosso,Brazil and the dynamics of the burns do not keep up with the intensity of drought *** use of cluster analysis techniques,such as principal component analysis(PCA),is an alternative to bigdata analysis when the objective is to evaluate the presence of forest burning in more than one biome.

Lepidium meyenii (maca) reduces spermatogenic damage induced by a single dose of malathion in mice

Aim: To observe the effect of the aqueous extract of hypocotyls of the plant Lepidium meyenii (maca) on spermato-genic damage induced by the organophosphate insecticide malathion in mice. methods: mice were treated with 80 mg kg^(-1) of malathion in the presence or absence of an aqueous extract of maca, which was orally administered 7, 14 or 21 days after injection of the malathion. Stages of the seminiferous epithelium were assessed by transillumination on days 0, 7, 14 and 21. Results: The administration of maca increased significantly the length of stage 鈪?on days 7, 14 and 21 of treatment compared with the controls. An increase in the length of stage 鈪?occurred on day 14 of treatment. malathion affected spermatogenesis by reducing the lengths of stage 鈪?on day 7, stages 鈪?and 鈪?鈪?on day 14 and a recovery of stages 鈪?鈪?on day 21. The magnitude of alteration in the length of stage 鈪?produced by malathion was significantly reduced by maca on days 7 and 14. The length of stage 鈪?was increased when maca was administered to mice treated with malathion. Assessment of the relative length of stages of the seminiferous epithelium showed that maca treatment resulted in rapid recovery of the effect of malathion. Conclusion: maca enhances spermatogenesis following spermatogenic damage caused by the organophosphorous pesticide.

Breast cancer is the predominant form of carcinoma among women worldwide,with 70%of advanced patients developing bone metastases,with a high mortality *** this sense,the bone marrow(Bm)mesenchymal stem/stromal cells(mSCs)are critical for Bm/bone homeostasis,and failures in their functionality,transform the Bm into a premetastatic niche(PmN).We previously found that Bm-mSCs from advanced breast cancer patients(BCPs,infiltrative ductal carcinoma,stage III-B)have an abnormal *** work aims to study some of the metabolic and molecular mechanisms underlying mSCs shift from a normal to an abnormal profile in this group of patients.A comparative analysis was undertaken,which included self-renewal capacity,morphology,proliferation capacity,cell cycle,reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels,and senescence-associatedβ‑galactosidase(SA‑β‑gal)staining of Bmderived mSCs isolated from 14 BCPs and 9 healthy volunteers(HVs).Additionally,the expression and activity of the telomerase subunit TERT,as well as telomere length,were *** levels of pluripotency,osteogenic,and osteoclastogenic genes(OCT-4,SOX-2,m-CAm,RUNX-2,BmP-2,CCL-2,m-CSF,and IL-6)were also *** results showed that mSCs from BCPs had reduced,self-renewal and proliferation *** cells also exhibited inhibited cell cycle progression and phenotypic changes,such as an enlarged and flattened ***,there was an increase in ROS and senescence levels and a decrease in the functional capacity of TERT to preserve telomere *** also found an increase in pro-inflammatory/pro-osteoclastogenic gene expression and a decrease in pluripotency gene *** conclude that these changes could be responsible for the abnormal functional profile that mSCs show in this group of patients.

Forl a 1-D conservative system with a position depending mass within a dissipative medium, its effect on the body is to exert a force depending on the squared of its velocity, a constant of motion, Lagrangian, generalized linear momentum, and Hamiltonian are obtained. We apply these new results to the harmonic oscillator and pendulum under the characteristics mentioned about, obtaining their constant of motion, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian for the case when the body is increasing its mass.
