Effects of antioxidant‑rich Lactiplantibacillus plantarum inoculated alfalfa silage on rumen fermentation, antioxidant and immunity status, and mammary gland gene expression in dairy goats

Background Milk synthesis in lactating anim.ls demands high energy metabolism,which results in an increased production of reactive oxygen metabolites(ROM)causing an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants thereby inducing oxidative stress(OS)on the *** mitigate OS and postpartum disorders in dairy goats and gain insight into the impact of dietary choices on redox status during lactation,a feeding trial was conducted using alfalfa silage inoculated with a high-antioxidant strain of Lactiplantibacillus *** Twenty-four Guanzhong dairy goats(38.1±1.20 kg)were randomly assigned to two dietary treatments:one containing silage inoculated with *** MTD/1(RSMTD-1),and the other containing silage inoculated with high antioxidant activity *** 24-7(ES24-7).Results ES24-7-inoculated silage exhibited better fermentation quality and antioxidant activity compared to *** ES24-7 diet elevated the total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxi-dase(GSh-Px),and catalase(CAT)activities in milk,serum,and feces of lactating goats(with the exception of T-AOC in milk).Additionally,the diet containing ES24-7 inoculated silage enhanced casein yield,milk free fatty acid(FFA)content,and vitamin A level in the goats’***,an increase of immunoglobulin(Ig)A,IgG,IgM,inter-leukin(IL)-4,and IL-10 concentrations were observed,coupled with a reduction in IL-1β,IL-2,IL-6,interferon(IFN)-γ,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αconcentrations in the serum of lactating goats fed *** concentrations of total volatile fatty acid(VFA),acetate,and propionate were observed in the rumen fluid of dairy goats fed ES24-7 inoculated ***,the diet containing ES24-7 inoculated silage significantly upregulated the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2 like 2(NFE2L2),beta-carotene oxygenase 1(BCO1),SOD1,SOD2,SOD3,GPX2,CAT,glu-tathione-disulfide reductase(GSR),and heme oxygenase 1(hMOX1)genes in the mammary gland,

Spectral classification of water masses under the influence of the Amazon River plume

The large amount of dissolved and particulate material discharged by the Amazon River into the Equatorial Atlantic Ocean cause distinct spectral response of its waters as compared to the nearby ocean waters. This paper shows the application of K-means clustering algorithm for classifying water masses in the region under the Amazon River plume influence according to their spectral behavior. Salinity and temperature data from 67 oceanographic stations were related to Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor （SeaWiFS） remote sensing reflectances values and the following bio-optical products：（i） chlorophyll-a concentration, （ii） water attenuation coefficient and （iii） absorption coefficient for dissolved and detrital material. Four different water masses were identified such as：（1） oceanic water, （2） intermediate oceanic water, （3） intermediate river plume water and （4） Amazon River plume water. The spectral behavior of these water masses allowed concluding that the main active optical component of the waters in the region is the colored dissolved organic matter originated mostly from the Amazon River.

Black phosphorus(BP)is an attractive material for two-dimensional(2D)electronics and optoelectronics given its direct optical band gap in the ***,the vulnerability of BP to oxygen and moisture under ambient conditions has been a significant impediment for the adoption of this material towards practical *** vulnerability has also curtailed the development of additively manufactured,solution processed,ink-jet printed BP devices,which are cost-effective alternatives to lithographically patterned rigid electronics and optoelectronics based on *** this work,we have fabricated stable BP electronic devices on flexible and compliant substrates using low-cost,additive manufacturing techniques with ink-jet printing through scalable chemical exfoliation *** address the stability issues with BP,ionic liquids(ILs)were used as a passivation layer on the surface of the BP to minim.ze oxidative *** enhanced stability of BP was inferred through Raman spectroscopy and scanning probe microscopy techniques,where no observable changes in the A^(1)_(g)and A^(2)_(g)Raman vibrational modes were observed with time for the BP films passivated with ILs over a period of 168 h under ambient *** the other hand,a blue-shift in these Raman modes was evident for unpassivated *** probe microscopy measurements clearly revealed the difference in the surface characteristics through localized regions of degradation that intensified with time,which was clearly absent in IL/BP *** stability measurements were also conducted in electronic device platforms for IL coated BP devices,where the temperature T dependence of the I_(ds)-V_(ds)characteristic was measured from T~5.4 to 335 *** demonstrations of stabilized ILs/BP devices at ambient printed on flexible polyimide substrates were also *** irradiation with broadband radiation appears to have a significant influence on the electrical behavior of BP,evident through t

The title complexes were modeled using the semiempirical MOPAC and the newly developed SPARKLE paramerters of the lanthanides. The calculated bond dis tances and angles agreed well with those found from crystal structure measuremen ts. Ambient vibration testing and updating of the finite element model of a simply supported beam bridge

An ambient vibration test on a concrete bridge constructed in 1971 and calibration of its finite element model are *** bridge is characterized by a system of post-tensioned and simply supported *** dynamic characteristics of the bridge,*** frequencies,mode shapes and damping ratios were computed from the ambient vibration tests by using the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm(ERA).Then,these characteristics were used to update the finite element model of the bridge by formulating an optimization problem and then using Genetic Algorithms(GA)to solve *** the results of the ambient vibration test of this type of bridge,it is concluded that two-dimensional mode shapes exist:in the longitudinal and transverse;and these experimentally obtained dynamic characteristics were also achieved in the analytical model through *** application of GAs as optimization techniques showed great versatility to optimize any number and type of variables in the model.

Traditionally,food sustainability has been considered solely in the stage of agricultural ***,globalization,the expansion of the food production industry,and the emergence of supermarket chains that control the retail food market require specific significant changes in supply chains in the food sector and,therefore,we need to address the economic,social,and environmental impacts of these *** the other hand,social selling has increased rapidly in recent years,with a further boom,following current events related to the coronavirus disease(COVID-19).This explosion of social sales,where there are usually no control and regulation entities,can bring problems associated with mishandling *** this paper,we expose how Blockchain technology supports the traceability of social sales by validating the data provided by the chain participants such as digital health passports,production and transport data in the sale process;the proposed solution generates recommendations on productmanagement considering the agreements previously made by the network *** evaluate the proposed smart contracts,we usehyperledger Caliper,obtaining an average throughput of 12.6 transactions per second and an average latency of 0.3 s for the asset update *** also use a study case to evaluate the proposed project platform’s selling-transport stage using Internet of Things(IoT)sensors.

Lithium-oxygen batteries are a promising technology because they can greatly surpass the energy density of lithium-ion ***,this theoretical characteristic has not yet been converted into a real device with high *** with air contamination,metallic lithium reactivity,and complex discharge and charge reactions are the main issues for this technology.A fast and reversible oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)is crucial for good performance of secondary batteries',but the partial knowledge of its mechanisms,especially when devices are concerned,hinders further *** this perspective,the present work uses operando Raman experiments and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)to assess the first stages of the discharge processes in porous carbon electrodes,following their changes cycle by cycle at initial operation.A growth kinetic formation of the discharge product signal(Li_(2)O_(2))was observed with operando Raman,indicating a first-order reaction and enabling an analysis by a microkinetic *** solution mechanism in the evaluated system was ascribed for an equivalent circuit with three time *** the time constant for the anode interface reveals to remain relatively constant after the first discharge,its surface seemed to be more *** model indicated that the reaction occurs at the Li_(2)O_(2) surface,decreasing the associated resistance during the initial discharge ***,the growth of Li_(2)O_(2) forms a hetero-phase between Li_(2)O_(2)/electrolyte,while creating a more compact and homogeneous on the Li_(2)O_(2)/cathode *** methodology here described thus offers a way of directly probing changes in surface chemistry evolution during cycling from a device through EIS analysis.
