Cardiac involvement as an initial presentation of.malignant lymphoma is a rare *** describe the case of.a 26 year old man who had initially been diagnosed with myocardial inf.ltration on an echocardiogram,presenting with a testicular mass and unilateral peripheral f.cial *** admission,electrocardiograms(ECG)revealed negative T-waves in all leads and ST-segment elevation in the inf.rior *** twodimensional echocardiography,there was inf.ltration of.the pericardium with mild ef.usion,inf.ltrative thickening of.the aortic walls,both atria and the interatrial septum and a mildly depressed systolic f.nction of.both *** axillary biopsy was perf.rmed and reported as a T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma(T-LBL).f.llowing the diagnosis and staging,chemotherapy was ***-two days af.er f.nishing the f.rst cycle of.chemotherapy,the ECG showed regression of.T-wave changes in all leads and normalization of.the ST-segment elevation in the inf.rior leads.A f.llowup two-dimensional echo conf.rmed regression of.the myocardial *** case report illustrates a lymphoma presenting with testicular mass,unilateral peripheral f.cial paralysis and myocardial involvement,and demonstrates that regression of.inf.ltration can be achieved by intensive chemotherapy *** our knowledge,there are no reported cases of.T-LBL presenting as a testicular mass and unilateral peripheral f.cial paralysis,with complete regression of.myocardial involvement.

Objective: Although Angelica archangelica is a medicinal and aromatic plant with a long history of.use f.r both medicinal and f.od purposes, there are no studies regarding the antineoplastic activity of.its *** study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxicity and antitumor ef.ects of.the crude extract of.A. archangelica root(CEAA) on breast ***: The cytotoxicity of.CEAA against breast adenocarcinoma cells(4T1 and MCf.7) was evaluated by a 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay. Morphological and biochemical changes were detected by Hoechst 33342/propidium iodide(PI) and annexin V/PI staining. Cytosolic calcium mobilization was evaluated in cells staining with f.RA-4 NW. Immunoblotting was used to determine the ef.ect of.CEAA on anti-and pro-apoptotic proteins(Bcl-2 and Bax, respectively).The 4 T1 cell-challenged mice were used f.r in vivo ***: Using ultra-high-perf.rmance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis, angelicin, a constituent of.the roots and leaves of.A. archangelica, was f.und to be the major constituent of.the CEAA evaluated in this study(73 mg/mL). The CEAA was cytotoxic f.r both breast cancer cell lines studied but not f.r human f.broblasts. Treatment of.4 T1 cells with the CEAA increased Bax protein levels accompanied by decreased Bcl-2 expression, in the presence of.cleaved caspase-3 and cytosolic calcium mobilization, suggesting mitochondrial involvement in breast cancer cell death induced by the CEAA in this cell line. No changes on the Bcl-2/Bax ratio were observed in CEAA-treated MCf. cells. Gavage administration of.the CEAA(500 mg/kg) to 4T1 cell-challenged mice signif.cantly decreased tumor growth when compared with untreated ***: Altogether, our data show the antitumor potential of.the CEAA against breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. f.rther research is necessary to better elucidate the pharmacological application of.the CEAA in breast cancer therapy.

Purpose The aims of.this study were to propose an alternative method to assess an optimal perf.rmance improvement rate(PIR)that would be used as a tool f.r coaches and elite athletes willing to reach their personal best,mainly those seeking f.r national,continental or even world record(WR)in middle-distance *** f.rther compared the improvement rate of.women *** of.the top-10 ranked athletes in the IAAf.running these middle-distance events Method The top 10 athletes in the IAAf.ranking of.800 m,1500 m,and 3000 m events f.r each sex were assessed f.r their history of.race times bef.re achieving their personal record(PR).The dif.erence between PR(‘actual’season)and the best race time in the last season was def.ned as the 1st season improvement rate(1-SIR),whereas the average improvement rate in the last and preceding seasons was the multi-season improvement rate(M-SIR).1-SIR and M-SIR were calculated f.r each *** There were sex dif.erences in the 1500 m with a large ef.ect size(d=−0.746)in 1-SIR(P=0.001)and very large(d=−2.249)in M-SIR(P=0.001).Women improved more than men bef.re the PR/WR achievements in the 800 m and 1500 m events(P=0.001)and had similar improvement rates bef.re perf.rming PR/WR in 3000 m events(P=0.533).Conclusion Women improve more bef.re PR/WR achievement in 800 m and 1500 m ***,in the 3000 m men and women have similar improvement rates in previous seasons bef.re the PR/WR achievement.

Analytical Approximation to the Dynamics of.a Binary Stars System with Time Depending Mass Variation

We study the classical dynamics of.binary stars when there is an interchange of.mass between them. Assuming that one of.the stars is more massive than others, the dynamics of.the lighter one is analyzed as a f.nction of.its time depending mass variation. Within our approximations and models f.r mass transf.rence, we obtain a general result which establishes that if.the lightest star looses mass, its period increases. If.the lightest star wins mass, its period decreases.

The quantization of.the f.rced harmonic oscillator is studied with the quantum variable (x, v∧), with the commutation relation , and using a Schrödinger’s like equation on these variable, and associating a linear operator to a constant of.motion K (x, v, t) of.the classical system, The comparison with the quantization in the space (x, p) is done with the usual Schrödinger’s equation f.r the Hamiltonian H(x, p, t), and with the commutation relation . It is f.und that f.r the non-resonant case, both f.rms of.quantization bring about the same result. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the quality care received by senior citizens in Primary Health Care (PHC) in the Unif.ed Health System, with the objectives of.contributing with the comprehensive implementation of.humanized conduct and actions f.r this part of.the population. Methods: This is a descriptive-exploratory study with a quantitative approach that was conducted in the city of.Santa Cruz, which is located in the Brazilian state of.Rio Grande do Norte, with a population of.130 senior citizens. The research was approved by the Committee f.r Ethics in Research at the f.deral University at Rio Grande do Norte under protocol 152/2012. Results: In the results, the classif.cation of.the PHC services varied f.om good to reasonable. Regarding the assistance of.ered to the aging and comprehensive care, there were f.ilures in accordance with how it’s recommended in the National Healthcare System. This concludes, through the perspective of.the elderly user, the need f.r the ref.rmulation of.the activities which are of.ered to this population and theref.re the implementation of.conduct f.r better service in the area of.Primary Health Care.

Comparison between endoscopic sclerotherapy and band ligation f.r hemostasis of.acute variceal bleeding

AIM:To compare band ligation(BL) with endoscopic sclerotherapy(SCL) in patients admitted to an emergency unit f.r esophageal variceal rupture. METHODS:A prospective,randomized,single-center study without crossover was *** endoscopic diagnosis of.esophageal variceal rupture,patients were randomized into groups f.r SCL or BL *** was perf.rmed by ethanolamine oleate intravascular injection both above and below the rupture point,with a maximum volume of.20 *** BL patients,banding at the rupture point was attempted,f.llowed by ligation of.all variceal tissue of.the distal *** outcomes f.r both groups were initial f.ilure of.bleeding control(5 d) ,early re-bleeding(5 d to 6 wk),and complications,including *** May 2005 to May 2007,100 patients with variceal bleeding were enrolled in thestudy:50 SCL and 50 BL *** dif.erences between groups were observed across gender,age,ChildPugh status,presence of.shock at admission,mean hemoglobin levels,and variceal size. RESULTS:No dif.erences were f.und between groups f.r bleeding control,early re-bleeding rates,complications,or *** 6 wk,36(80%) SCL and 33(77 %) EBL patients were alive and f.ee of.bleeding.A statistically signif.cant association between Child-Pugh status and mortality was f.und,with 16%mortality in Child A and B patients and 84%mortality in Child C patients(Pf.patients included,our results suggest that SCL and BL are equally ef.icient f.r the control of.acute variceal bleeding.

Rice and Barnyardgrass:Water Stress and Initial Establishment

The present work aimed to evaluate the ef.ect of.dif.erent water stress levels on the development of.both rice and barnyardgrass. The study was established into greenhouse, in completely randomized design, in f.ctorial scheme 2 × 5, with f.ur replications. f.ctor “A” comprised the plant species (rice cv. BRS Querência, or the weed Echinochloa crusgalli), and f.ctor “B” comprised the water stress levels: (T1) continuous f.ood (Cf.;(T2) 0 kPa (saturated soil);(T3) 10 kPa;(T4) 40 kPa;and (T5) 100 kPa. Plant emergence was assessed every day;plant length was measured 30 days af.er planting. At the end of.the experiment, the number of.leaves per plant, root length and shoot and root dry mass were determined. Our data supply evidence that under moderate water stress, up to approximately 40 kPa, rice tends to perf.rm better than barnyardgrass in the initial stage of.crop growth, when under equivalent plant density. However, barnyardgrass is usually present in much higher plant density than crop plants in f.elds traditionally cropped with rice. Thus, ef.icient control of.barnyardgrass should be accomplished to avoid damage to rice crop by competition f.r environmental resources.

Temperature Control of.a Thermal Plasma Torch with Inductive Coupling Using the Arduino Board

Plasma torch is a device that transf.rms electrical energy into heat carried by a gas and its saf. operation is necessary to control her temperature. This paper presents the use of.the Arduino board in temperature control of.a plasma torch through f.zzy control. The plasma torch of.this project was built so that a f.ow of.water can circulate through your body, allowing its cooling. The cooling system mounted consists of.one radiator, one expansion vase, one water pump and one temperature sensor. The heated water coming the plasma torch is passed by the temperature sensor. This is converted in a voltage and read by an analog input port of.the Arduino. This processes the inf.rmation received and makes the decision to turn on/of. the radiator f.n and/or powered the f.equency inverter water pump to control the temperature. The graph of.the f.zzy control showed an oscillation between 104 °f.to 122 °f.around the chosen ref.rence 113 °f. The results show that it is possible to control the temperature of.a plasma torch using the Arduino board and f.zzy logic.

Quasi non-Markovian Approach to the Study of.Decoherence of.a Controlled-Not Quantum Gate in a Chain of.f.w Nuclear Spins Quantum Computer

We develop in the weak coupling approximation a quasi-non-Markovian master equation and study the phenomenon of.decoherence during the operation of.a controlled-not (CNOT) quantum gate in a quantum computer model f.rmed by a linear chain of.three nuclear spins system with second neighbor Ising interaction between them. We compare with the behavior of.the Markovian counterpart f.r temperature dif.erent f.om zero (thermalization) and at zero temperature f.r low and high dissipation rates. At low dissipation there is a very small dif.erence between Markovian and quasi no-Markovian at any temperature which is unlikely to be measured, and at high dissipation there is a dif.erence which is likely to be measured at any temperature.
