Coronavirus particles contain four main structural proteins. These are the spike (S), membrane (M), envelope (E), and nucleocapsid (N) proteins, all of which are encoded within the 3’ end of the viral genome. The S protein (~150 kDa) utilizes an N-terminal signal sequence to gain access to the ER, and is heavily N-linked glycosylated. In view of the increase in death due to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), it is important to investigate the potential effects the coronavirus on different organs. A literature search was performed from Elsevier, Pubmed, Springer, and Hindawi, and literature is reviewed using customized search strategies. The search strategy included the following terms Cardiovascular effect, Neurological effect, and kidney. Myocardial damage is a common occurrence in patients with COVID-19 disease hospitalisation. This is characterized by a rise in troponin. Vascular endothelial damage in both small and mid-sized pulmonary vessels was noted together with Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and Pulmonary embolism (PE), resulting in pulmonary infarction. Liver damage in patients with coronavirus infections might be directly caused by the viral infection of liver cells. Neuronal pathway is an important vehicle for neurotropic viruses to enter the CNS (Central Nervous system). Recent research studies show that apoptosis is implicated in a variety of ocular disorders, including glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, cataract development, retinoblastoma, retinal ischemia, diabetic retinopathy, and ocular murine glaucoma. The more the understanding about this new virus and its occurrence, the better the ability of people to cope with it. It’s far hoped that we will conquer COVID-19 soon with the invention of powerful vaccines, pills, and remedies.

Photodetectors(PDs)are optoelectronic devices that convert optical signals into electrical ***,there has been a tremendous increase in research interest in PDs based on colloidal quantum dots(QDs)and two-dimensional(2D)material heterostructures owing to the strong light-absorption capacity and the well-adjustable band gap of QDs and the superior charge carriers transfer ability of 2D *** particular,the heterojunction formed between QDs and 2D materials can effectively enhance the separation and transport of photogenerated charge carriers,which is expected to establish PDs with ultrahigh photoconductive gain,high responsivity,and *** review aimed to summarize the state-of-the-art advances in the research of QDs/2D material nanohybrid PDs,including the device parameters,archi-tectures,working mechanisms,and fabrication *** prog-ress of hybrid PDs based on the heterojunction of QDs with different 2D materials,along with their innovative applications,are comprehensively *** the end,the challenges and feasible strategies in future research and development are briefly proposed.

Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma (ESS) is a rare uterine malignancy. The annual incidence of ESS has been reported as 1 - 2 per million women. In the general population approximately 10 percent of cancer patients may develop a second primary cancer. Synchronous multiple primary tumors constitute only 20% of all multiple primary tumors, and by definition, occur within a period of two month. This case report is presented to document the occurrence of ESS as a “Synchronous Multiple Primary Tumor”, which is an extremely rare event. Previously only one case report has documented such an occurrence. The literature is also briefly reviewed. This case underlines the requirement of a thorough initial evaluation for a patient with a gynecological malignancy and a regular follow-up. Follow-up includes patient education regarding symptoms of any recurrence, physical examination repeated at 6 - 12 monthly interval, along with imaging studies when indicated.

Effect of Gossypol on Bovine Blastocyst Attachment and Trophoblastic outgrowth in Vitro

The presont study was carried out to investigate the effect of different amounts of gossypol on bovineblastocyst attachment and trophoblastic outgrowth in vitro. Bovine oocyte were collected from theovaries of slaughtered cows and were matured and fertilized in vitro. Cleaved oocyte were culturedin CRlaa + BOEC and TC-199 + 10% FCS combined in an 1:1 ratio. After 8 days of co-culture,the hatched blastocysts were randomly allotted to different treatment groups. All were cultured ona fetal fibroblast monolaycr (prepared from bovine fetuses) in TC-199 culture medium supplementedwith 10% fetal calf serum (TCFCS). But the groups differed from one another in the dose ofgossypol given: 0.01 μg, 0.1 μg, 1 μg, 10 μs/ml, and no gossypol as control. All cultures wereperformed in 24-well culture plates at 39℃ with 5% CO_2 in air. The results indicate that the ratesof attached and outgrowing blastocysts in the medium containing 1 μg/ml gossypol were significantlylowcr than the control group (p<0.01) and outgrowth were inhibited by gossypol in a dose-dependent manner.

A Case of Severe Hypomagnesaemia

Hypomagnesaemia is a common finding that occurs in hospitalised patients and can be caused by renal or extrarenal wasting. Because it is not routinely tested, even severe hypomagnesaemia can be missed. In cases of extrarenal wasting, the kidney can decrease its magnesium excretion to very low levels. A systematic diagnostic approach allows the proper diagnosis and treatment of hypomagnesaemia. We report on a 72-year-old Caucasian male patient with repeated drops and amyosthenia caused by severe hypomagnesaemia. In this report, we discuss the pathophysiology, clinical signs, diagnostic investigation and treatment of magnesium depletion.

Co-administration of rlpaB domain of Shigella with rGroEL of s. Typhi enhances the immune responses and protective efficacy against Shigella infection

Shigella species cause severe bacillary dysentery in humans and are associated with high morbidity and mortality. The Invasion plasmid antigen （IpaB） protein, which is conserved across all Shigella spp., induces macrophage cell death and is required to invade host cells. The present study evaluates the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of the recombinant （r） domain region of IpaB （rlpaB） of S. flexneri, rlpaB was administered either alone or was co-administered with the rGroEL （heat shock protein 60） protein from S. Typhi as an adjuvant in a mouse model of intranasal immunization. The IpaB domain region （37 kDa） of S. flexneriwas amplified from an invasion plasmid, cloned, expressed in BL21 Escherichia colicells and purified. Immunization with the rlpaB domain alone stimulated both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. Furthermore, robust antibody （IgG, IgA） and T-cell responses were induced when the rlpaB domain was co-administered with rGroEL. Antibody isotyping revealed higher IgG 1 and IgG2a antibody titers and increased interferon-gamma （IFN-γ） secretion in the co-administered group. Immunization of mice with the rlpaB domain alone protected 60%-70% of the mice from lethal infection by S. flexneri, S. boydiiand S. sonnei, whereas co-administration with rGroEL increased the protective efficacy to 80%-85%. Organ burden and histopathological studies also revealed a significant reduction in lung infection in the co-immunized mice compared with mice immunized with the rlpaB domain alone. This study emphasizes that the co-administration of the rlpaB domain and rGroEL protein improves immune responses in mice and increases protective efficacy against Shigella infection. This is also the first report to evaluate the potential of the GroEL （Hsp 60） protein of S. Typhi as an adjuvant molecule, thereby overcoming the need for commercial adjuvants.

Prevalence and Antibiotic Resistance Pattern among the Mastitis Causing Microorganisms

Mastitis is one of the most commonly occurring diseases of dairy animals. It is the most important cause of economic losses to the dairy industry in India and throughout the world. In the present study prevalence of microorganisms isolated from mastitic milk and their antibiotic resistance was studied. A total of sixty nine milk samples from mastitic animals (clinical and subclinical) were tested using sodium lauryl sulphate test and those positive were selected and transported to the laboratory for isolation and identification of the causative agent. Out of these samples fifty samples yielded bacterial growth when tested on selective/non selective medium. Of these fifty samples, seven samples had single bacterial growth whereas rest of the 43 samples had mixed growth. Among the bacterial isolates it was found that the highest prevalence was of Streptococcus agalactiae and Staphylococcus aureus followed by E. coli and klebsiella pneumoniae. Antibiotic sensitivity test revealed that Streptococcus agalactiae revealed the highest sensitivity to ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin and resistance to amoxicillin and doxycycline;Staphylococcus aureus revealed the highest sensitivity to ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, azithromycin and sparfloxacin and resistance to amoxycillin and gentamicin. Similarly, E. coli revealed the highest sensitivity to azithromycin and chloramphenicol and resistance to amoxicillin and teicoplanin, and klebsiella pneumoniae revealed highest sensitivity to azithromycin, gentamicin and resistance to amoxicillin, teicoplanin and erythromycin. Thus, from the present study it could be concluded that Streptococcus agalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli and klebsiella pneumoniae were the most frequently isolated organisms from mastitic animals and azithromycin and the third generation fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, sparfloxacin and ofloxacin) were the most sensitive drugs.
