The glycerol electro-oxidation reaction(GEOR)is a green and promising method for the glyceraldehyde production.In this work,Pd nanocrystals(Pd-NCs)modified ultrathin NiO nanoplates(NiO-uNPs)hybrids(Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs)are successfully synthesized using successive cyanogel hydrolysis,chemical reduction,and calcination treatment methods.Various electrochemical measurements and physicochemical characterization results demonstrate that Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs hybrids have excellent electrocatalytic performance for both GEOR and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in alkaline medium,which benefit from the large specific surface area,uniform distribution of Pd-NCs,and the modified electronic structure of Ni atoms.At Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs hybrids,only 1.43 V is needed to obtain the current density of 100 ma∙cm^(−2) for GEOR,much lower than that for oxygen evolution reaction(1.82 V).In addition,Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs hybrids exhibit better HER performance than commercial Pd/C electrocatalyst.As a result,the constructed Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs||Pd-NCs/NiO-uNPs glycerol electrolyzer only requires 1.62 V electrolysis voltage to reach 10 ma∙cm^(−2) current density,showing an energy-efficient and economy-competitive synthesis for the coproduction of glyceraldehyde and hydrogen.

As an industrial solid waste,pyrite cinder exhibited excellent reactivity and cycle stability in chemical looping combustion.Prior to the experiment,oxygen carriers often experienced a high temperature calcination process to stabilize the physico-chemical properties,which presented significant influence on the redox performance of oxygen carriers.However,the effect of calcination temperature on the cyclic reaction performance of pyrite cinder has not been studied in detail.In this work,the effect of calcination temperature on the redox activity and attrition characteristic of pyrite cinder were studied in a fluidizedbed reactor using CH_(4) as fuel.A series of pyrite cinder samples were prepared by controlling the calcination temperature.The redox activity and attrition rate of the obtained pyrite cinder samples were investigated deeply.The results showed that calcination temperature displayed significant impact on the redox performance of pyrite cinder.Considering CH_(4) conversion(80%–85%)and attrition resistance,the pyrite cinder calcined at 1050℃ presented excellent redox properties.In the whole experiment process,the CO_(2) selectivity of the pyrite cinder samples were not affected by the calcination temperature and were still close to 100%.The results can provide reference for optimizing the calcination temperature of pyrite cinder during chemical looping process.

Urea electro-oxidation reaction(UEOR)-boosted water electrolysis can supplant the kinetics-restricted oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and provide an energy-saving method of hydrogen generation.However,low UEOR activity and the poisoning issue of the catalyst limit its practical application.Herein,a simple coordination reaction is used to synthesize the dimethylglyoxime-NiⅡcomplex(DMGNiⅡ),which efficiently serves as the initial precursor to synthesize nitrogen-doped carbon nanorodsupported nickel phosphide nanoparticle(Ni_(2)P/N-C)nanocomposites.The density functional theory calculations and electrochemical results reveal that nitrogen doping can weaken the adsorption of hydrogen and the generated CO_(2)resulting in an enhancement of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and UEOR activity.In addition,N-doping can also promote the generation of Ni,which can further promote the UEOR and HER performance.Concretely,the overpotential for the HER on Ni_(2)P/N-C-2h nanocomposites is only 201 m V at 10 ma cm,and the onset potential of the UEOR on NiP/NC-2h nanocomposites is only 1.34 V.Additionally,the Ni_(2)P/N-Cnanocomposites also show excellent long-term stability due to the introduction of nitrogen-doped carbon material.Consequently,the symmetric Ni_(2)P/N-C-2h||Ni_(2)P/N-C-2h urea electrolyzer requires 1.41 V of electrolysis voltage for urea electrolysis,which can be applied in energy-saving H_(2) production and environment purification.

Interlayer and doping engineering in partially graphitic hollow carbon nanospheres for fast sodium and potassium storage

Constructing anodes with fast ions/electrons transfer paths is an effective strategy to achieve high-performance sodium ion batteries(SIBs)/potassium ion batteries(PIBs). Amorphous carbon is a promising candidate anode for SIBs/PIBs owing to its disordered carbon layers, abundant defects/pores, and lowcost resources. However, the larger radius of Na^(+)/K^(+) leading to depressed kinetics and poor cycling performance, impeding their further applications. Herein, we propose an efficient strategy to construct of nitrogen, sulfur co-doped hollow carbon nanospheres(NS-HCS) involving an in situ growth of polydopamine on nano-Ni(OH)2template with subsequent sulfur doping process. During the formation process, the produced Ni nanospheres play as the hard template and catalyst for the formation of hollow carbon nanosphere with partially graphite microcrystalline structure, while the sulfur doping process can enlarge the interlayer space and create more defects on the surface of carbon nanospheres, thus synchronous improve the Na^(+)/K^(+) insertion and adsorption ability in NS-HCS. With the synergistic control of the enlarged interlayer spacing, high content of pyridinic N/pyrrolic N and graphitization, a hybrid storage mechanism facilitates the transport kinetics and endows the NS-HCS electrode with high capacities and good cycling stability in SIBs and PIB. Benefit from the multiple effects, NS-HCS exhibits the improved capacity of 274.8 m Ah/g at 0.1 A/g and excellent cycling stability of 149.5 m Ah/g after 5000 cycles at2.5A/g in SIBs, as well as good potassium ion storage behavior with a high capacity retention of 76.5%after 700 cycles at 1.0 A/g, demonstrating the potential applications of NS-HCS for high-performance SIBs and PIBs.

Rational design of robust non-noble electrocatalysts with numerous oxygen vacancies and highly reactive activity for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)towards Zn-air batteries is extremely paramount yet challenging.Herein,a novel CeO_(2)C_(2)nanoparticles self-embedded in Fe,N co-doped carbon nanofibers(CeO_(2)C_(2)@Fe-N-C)heterostructure catalyst has been prepared by the in-site dual template assisted electrospinning technique and subsequent high temperature pyrolysis strategy.Thanks to the CeO_(2)C_(2)with oxygen-enriched vacancies and versatile Fe-N-C with rich reactive species and high conductivity,CeO_(2)C_(2)@Fe-N-C catalyst exhibits outstanding catalytic performance in the ORR process,and shows excellent methanol tolerance and cycle stability.In addition,CeO_(2)C_(2)@Fe-N-C delivers a nearly four-electron transfer process in the process of oxygen reduction catalysis,providing a fast-electrochemical kinetic rate,which makes it an efficient air cathode for the Zn-air battery.Importantly,the Zn-air battery fabricated with CeO_(2)C_(2)@Fe-N-C cathode achieves superior performance including large open-circuit voltage(1.5 V)and high specific capacity(780 mah·g–1 at 10 ma·cm–2)together with superior reversibility and cycling stability,outperforming commercial Pt/C catalyst.The present work introduces a new strategy to design and develop highly active non-noble catalysts and highlights the synergy from heterostructure in oxygen electrocatalysis for advanced Zn-air batteries.

Organic matter enrichment in the first member of the Xiagou formation of the lower Cretaceous in the Jiuquan Basin, China

The sources and enrichment of organic matter in a sediment core in the first member of the Xiagou Formation(K_1g^1) from the Chang 2-2 borehole of the Jiuquan Basin,NW China,have been examined using Rock-Eval,maceral,carbon isotopes and biomarker data.This data indicates that highly variable organic matter sources and preservation conditions in response to climate change.TOC content,HI,and δ^(13)C value were strongly correlated with the abundance of gammacerane,woody organic matter content,steranes/hopanes ratio,and C_(29) sterane content.This correlation demonstrates the importance that the control of the salinity of the depositional environment and organic matter sources can have upon the enrichment,type,and carbon isotopic composition of organic matter.In the Jiuquan Basin's relatively high temperature and arid climate,high salinity lakes with high primary productivity of algae,planktons,and bacteria,and good organic matter preservation conditions(anoxic bottom water) resulted in the enrichment of isotopically-light algae-bacterial organic matter.In the Jiuquan Basin's regions with a relatively low temperature and wet climate,fresh lakes with low primary productivity of algae,planktons,and bacteria received significant terrigenous high plants input,resulting in the deposition of a low abundance of isotopically heavier terrestrial organic matter.

As for aerospace electromagnetic relay （AEMR） which is of small batches and having difficulty in automatic production, the uncertainty phenomenon is remarkable due to excessive manual work involved in the assembly and adjustment processes. This kind of uncertainty may increase the coil voltage difference （CVD） caused by hesitate phenomenon in the pick up process of AEMR. Taking a certain type of AEMR for example, the CVD problem in the actual producing process has been studied in this paper. The primary cause of this issue, two-steps of armature motion （namely hesitate phenomenon） in the pick up process, has been found by analyzing the matching characteristics of electromagnetic and mechanical torques of AEMR. Through the optimization of the matching characteristics, the two-steps of armature motion problem is solved by robust design of the return reed which is a key part of AEMR. The validity of this research has been proved by the comparison of characteristics of AMER before and after the optimization.

Dear editor,As an important part of a cache, static random-access memory(SRAM) has been extensively utilized to satisfy the application requirements in modern embedded processors.It plays an important role in data interaction between the central processing unit and internal memory. Moreover,these data interactions are safety critical requiring highly reliable SRAM. However, owing to complementary metaloxide-semiconductor(CMOS) manufacturing processes entering the nanoscale era, SRAM is increasingly vulnerable to a single event upset(SEU).

Solute Redistribution with Shear Flow in Molten Pool of Ni-Cr Alloy

Columnar grain growth with shear flow in molten pool of Ni-Cr alloy was simulated with a coupled model of grain growth and solute transport. The results indicate that shear flow alters solute distribution at the vicinity of columnar grains. The solute concentration gradient on the upstream side is greater, while that on the downstream side is smaller, leading to asymmetrical growth of columnar grains. In the interior of a columnar grain, solute concentration increases from the bottom to the dendrite tip, but the rate of increase tends to be reduced. The simulated results are consistent with the experiments.

针对信道信息获取中导频开销与反馈开销过大的问题,研究了FDD大规模MIMO系统的开销优化。基于信道角度域大尺度参数的多样性,引入成簇多径信道模型,设计了一种角度域的开销优化方案。在此方案中,通过广播预先设计的预编码码本和用户强度反馈,在基站侧建立角度域的拓扑关系,进行整体用户调度与预编码码本分配。在典型仿真场景下,与传统方案相比,系统开销平均减少60%,系统和速率平均提升35%。通过角度域的码本匹配,有效减少了系统开销,提升了系统性能。
