Geochemical peculiarities and genesis of mud volcanic fluids originated from marine and freshwater strata: insights from the North Tian Shan and the North Caucasus mud volcanoes

The phenomenon of mud volcanism has a connection with the processes of hydrocarbon generation， however， the genesis of sediments is not often taken into consideration. The study of mud volcanoes in the West Kuban marginal marine basin and the Junggar freshwater basin revealed significant isotope-geochemical differences due to various types of sedimentation. The waters from both basins exhibit three principal geochemical facies: Na-HCO3， Na-Cl-HCO3， and Na-Cl， of which the latter type of water is the dominant. The analysis of genetic coefficients （Cl/Br， Na/Br， and B/Cl） allowed us to distinguish different pathways of mud volcanic water evolution: evaporite dissolution， formation （sedimentation） waters， and waters formed by active water-rock interaction. Through statistical research， we were able to determine that noticeable variations in the behavior of chemical elements in waters from different areas can reflect discrepancies in the geological environment and the evolutionary stage of the diagenetic water transformation. Using thermodynamic modeling， the main directions of mass transfer were shown. It was established that the waters of the Junggar basin were at a relatively early stage of evolution and had reached equilibrium only with carbonates， while in the formation waters of the West Kuban basin， element concentrations were also controlled by silicate minerals. The correlations between δ18O and δ2H values and saturation indices of halides， aluminosilicates， sulfates， and borates confirm the enrichment of water with heavy isotopes during interactions with rocks without evaporation or thermal water partition. These reactions are characterized by clay dehydration and water enrichment with18O and B. The data obtained made it possible to clarify the depths of formation of mud-volcanic fluids and their possible stratigraphic sources.

Helium,Argon and Carbon Isotopic Compositions of Spring Gases in the Hainan Island,China

Chemical and isotopic compositions have been measured for N2-He-rich bubbling gases discharging from hot springs in the Hainan Island, Southern China. Observed 3He/4He ratios （0.1-1.3 RA） indicate the occurrence of a mantle component throughout the island, which has been highly diluted by a crustal radiogenic 4He component. The occurrence of mantle-derived helium is high in the northern island （12%-16% of total He） and gradually decreases towards southern coast （1%-3% of total He）. Such a distribution pattern is most likely controlled by the Pleocene-Quaternary volcanic activities in the northern island and groundwater circulation along the deep major faults. The 4~Ar/36Ar and N2/Ar ratios suggest that N2 and Ar of the hot spring gases are mostly meteoric. Although 13C values of CO2 （-20%0 to -27%0） with low concentrations are consistent with the biogenic origin, the combination of SHe/4He and 51SCco2 suggests a two end-member mixing of mantle and crustal components with CO2/3He ratios of 2x 109 and 8 1011, respectively. However, the low CO2/3He ratios （1- 22106） can not be ascribed in terms of the simple mixing but has to be explained by the addition of radiogenic 4He and loss of CO2 by calcite precipitation in the hydrothermal system, which is most likely controlled by the degree of gas-water-rock interaction.

Variation of iron species in sliding mud

Results of Mossbauer spectroscopy and ICP-AES measurement revealed a special distribution pattern of iron species in four crossing profiles of the Tertiary Formation Type of Landslides in Japan. In comparison with host rocks, the sliding mud in the landslide slip zone contains the higher ferrous iron content and/or trace pyrite, which indicates that the forming environment was relatively reducing. The total iron content also increased with an increase in ferric iron and pyrite, in contrast, decreased with an increase in ferrous iron content. The deep-gray and black mud layers formed and accumulated in various volumes within landslide slip zones are treated as the basic criteria for the slipping activity, because the soft mud saturated with groundwater is easy to create a plastic deformation.

Thermo-mechanical fatigue behavior of nickel-base powder metallurgy superalloy FGH96 under tension-tension loading

Thermo-mechanical fatigue （TMF） behavior of FGH96, a nickel-base powder metallurgy superalloy, has been studied under tension-tension loading at the temperature range from 550 to 720 ℃. The results show that TMF fracture mode is intergranular for the in-phase （IP）, but transgranular cleavage-like for the out-of-phase （OP） samples. The total content of Al, Ti and Nb in the γ＇ phases for the IP or OP samples and the partitioning ratio of γ＇/γin these elements for the IP samples are relatively higher at the lower strain amplitude, which is consistent with the case of the γ＇ size that is larger at the lower strain amplitude, the lattice parameter misfit is negative and the absolute value is lower at the lower strain amplitude that is correlative with the change of the γ＇ morphology. The deformation at the lower strain amplitude is mainly dominated by the dislocation lines and dislocation pairs in the matrix channels, at the higher strain amplitude dominated by the large numbers of superlattice stacking faults within the γ＇ phases.

Commercial Case Study on Processing Tahe Medium Gravity Crude

Based on the petroleum processing units of a certain domestic refinery, the authors studied the appropriate cases for processing of Tahe medium gravity crude. The influence of three crude processing cases, including the case for processing of crude slate blended with Tahe medium gravity crude, the case for separate processing and storing of individual crude oils, and the case for flash distillation of Tahe medium gravity crude coupled with separated processing of crude oils, on the products quality, stability of production operation and the overall techno-economic parameters was investigated. The study results have shown that the case for processing crude slate blended with Tahe medium gravity crude could lead to deterioration of the FCC products distribution, dramatic reduction of light distillates, significant surge of sulfur content in FCC naphtha, and increased specific consumption of FCC catalyst, indicating that this case was obviously not suited for processing the Tahe medium gravity crude. The case for separate processing and storing of individual crude oils, however, could increase the aggregate salable products ratio, but the frequent switchover of process streams could cause difficulty and hazards to the stabilization of refining operations, which could not be an ideal processing case. The case for flash distillation of Tahe medium gravity crude coupled with separate processing of crude oils featured the simplicity of process scheme, easiness for modification of process units, easy operation and a slight increase in the aggregate salable products ratio, making itself a suitable case for processing the Tahe medium gravity crude.

Metal-polyphenol-coordinated nanomedicines for Fe(II) catalyzed photoacoustic-imaging guided mild hyperthermia-assisted ferroustherapy against breast cancer

Ferroustherapy has gained great attention for anti-cancer treatment in recent years. Enlightened by temperature-mediated Fenton reaction in industrial waste water removal, we designed a iron-based polyphenol-coordinated nanomedicines for mild hyperthermia-assisted anti-cancer ferroustherapy. In brief, Fe-GA@BSA nanoparticles was synthesized by self-assembly and sorafenib(SRF) was loaded into Fe-GA@BSA to establish Fe-GA@BSA-SRF nanomedicines. The result nanomedicines can induce ferroptosis in cancer cells by accelerating Fenton reaction. And the photothermal effect of Fe-GA@BSA-SRF was used for mild hyperthermia-assisted ferroustherapy. The nanomedicines performs good anti-cancer therapeutic efficacy by inducing the production of ROS and inhibiting glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4) expression in vitro and in vivo. Besides, the broad absorption of Fe-GA@BSA-SRF in near infrared region endows it with photoacoustic imaging ability. This study provides ideas about rational design on iron-based nanoparticles for anti-cancer ferroustherapy.
