Comparison of a five-year clinical outcome between Chinese women and men with de novo coronary disease treated with implantation of a drug-eluting stent： a three-center, prospective, registry study

Background The gender-based differences in adverse events after drug-eluting stent （DES） implantation between Chinese women and men have not been fully studied. The present study aimed to compare the 5-year clinical outcome after DES implantation in Chinese women and men. Methods Chinese women （n=298） and men （n=698） with newly diagnosed de novo coronary lesions were studied after DES implantation. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events （MACEs） over a 5-year follow-up, including myocardial infarction （MI）, cardiac death, and target vessel revascularization （TVR）. Propensity score matching （PSM） was used to compare the adjusted MACE rates between sexes. Results Women differed in body habitus and had increased fasting cholesterol. Fewer women presented with MI, and they had better cardiac function with less complex disease. The unadjusted rate of MI at 3 years （2.1%） and 5 years （5.0%） and MACE （25.2%） at 5 years in men was significantly higher than that of women （0.3%, 1.0% and 17.8%, P=0.050, P=0.032, and P=0.011, respectively）. After PSM, the adjusted adverse events between sexes were similar. The stent thrombosis rate rapidly increased after 2 years in men. Conclusions There were significant gender-based differences in baseline characteristics. Chinese men had equivalent outcomes to women after DES after adjustment by PSM. The increased rate of MI in men was attributed to an increased unadjusted rate of MACE.

Environment perception is one of the most critical technology of intelligent transportation systems(ITS).Motion interaction between multiple vehicles in ITS makes it important to perform multi-object tracking(MOT).However,most existing MOT algorithms follow the tracking-by-detection framework,which separates detection and tracking into two independent segments and limit the global ***,a few algorithms have combined feature extraction into one network;however,the tracking portion continues to rely on data association,and requires com‑plex post-processing for life cycle *** methods do not combine detection and tracking *** paper presents a novel network to realize joint multi-object detection and tracking in an end-to-end manner for ITS,named as global correlation network(GCNet).Unlike most object detection methods,GCNet introduces a global correlation layer for regression of absolute size and coordinates of bounding boxes,instead of ofsetting *** pipeline of detection and tracking in GCNet is conceptually simple,and does not require compli‑cated tracking strategies such as non-maximum suppression and data *** was evaluated on a multivehicle tracking dataset,UA-DETRAC,demonstrating promising performance compared to state-of-the-art detectors and trackers.

The standard rabies vaccines recommended by WHO include Essen regimen, the Thai Red Cross two-site ID regimen and the eight-site ID regimen, and so on. The present schedules of rabies vaccine are all laborious and time consuming. We developed a new rabies vaccine with liposome as adjuvant（LipoRabV） and found that liposome could facilitate the inactivated rabies vaccine（RabV） to induce the more vigorous production of rabies virus neutralizing antibody（RVNA） in BALB/c mice and beagles. We established preliminary pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis schedules for LipoRabV. LipoRabV（0/14） could elicit similar RVNA level as RabV（0/7/28） by pre-exposure prophylaxis schedules in mice and beagles. LipoRabV（0/3/14） could elicit higher RVNA level vs. RabV（0/3/7/14/28） in BALB/c. The data indicate that the three-shot liposome-enhanced rabies vaccine could achieve a higher protection rate（survival rate 56.2%） by post-exposure prophylaxis compared with that of the RabV group（survival rate 40.6%） in mice. The data also indicate that the three-inoculation liposome-enhanced rabies vaccine could achieve a survival rate of 80.0% vs. RabV（70.0%） by post-exposure prophylaxis in beagles. The results show that the immunization schedule for LipoRabV could be preliminarily determined at 0 and 14 d for pre-exposure prophylaxis and at 0, 3 and 14 d for post-exposure prophylaxis.

The promoting effect of sulfur sources is an intriguing but poorly understood phenomenon. Herein, we studied the treatment of PdCu bimetallic nanoparticles （NPs） with different amounts of sulfur powder. Low-level sulfidation led to the generation of a Pd30CuloS9 NP catalyst consisting of surface enriched Pd NPs, electron deficient Pd and Cu, as well as zero valence sulfur. The Pd30CuloS9 NP catalyst showed pronouncedly enhanced activity and selectivity in the semihydrogenation of alkynes. Our study revealed for the first time a possible cause for the promoting effect of sulfur at the atomic level, suggesting a new strategy in catalyst design.

Surgical Outcomes of Anomalous Origin of the Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery in Children： An Echocardiography Follow？up

Background：Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery （ALCAPA） is a rare but potentially life-threatening congenital heart defect. A retrospective analysis was carried out to elucidate the surgical outcomes of ALCAPA in infants and children using follow-up echocardiography. Methods： From September 2008 to March 2017, 26 children diagnosed with ALCAPA underwent left coronary re-implantation. All surviving patients received echocardiography during follow-up. Results： The mortality rate after the operation was 11.5%. Before repair, twenty patients （76.9%） presented with left ventricular （LV） dysfunction. The mean Z-score of the preoperative LV end-diastolic diameter was 4.42 ± 2.09. Mitral regurgitation （MR） was present in all patients. Two patients （7.7%）, both with mitral valve prolapse, underwent mitral valve repair at the time of ALCAPA repair. Two children required postoperative extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. LV function normalized at a median time of 5.3 months （range：0.5–36.0 months）. The Z-score of the LV end-diastolic diameter decreased simultaneously. The degree of MR gradually decreased in all surviving *** patients had patency of the proximal left coronary artery confirmed by echocardiography at the most recent follow-up. Six patients （26.1%） showed supravalvar pulmonary stenosis and seven patients （30.4%） showed right pulmonary stenosis during follow-up. Conclusions： Coronary re-implantation was effective for rebuilding a dual coronary system in patients with ALCAPA and resulted in progressive improved LV function and reduced functional MR. Echocardiography was valuable for evaluating the outcomes. LV function, the degree of MR, and possible complications could be detected with follow-up echocardiography.

Background We explored the differences in baseline characteristics, pathogens, complications, outcomes, and risk factorsbetween children with hospital-acquired septic shock (HASS) and community-acquired septic shock (CASS) in the pediatricintensive care unit (PICU).Methods This retrospective study enrolled children with septic shock at the PICU of Beijing Children’s Hospital from January1, 2016, to December 31, 2019. The patients were followed up until 28 days after shock or death and were divided intothe HASS and CASS group. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify risk factors for *** A total of 298 children were enrolled. Among them, 65.9% (n = 91) of HASS patients had hematologic/oncologicdiseases, mainly with Gram-negative bacterial bloodstream infections (47.3%). Additionally, 67.7% (n = 207) of CASSpatients had no obvious underlying disease, and most experienced Gram-positive bacterial infections (30.9%) of the respiratoryor central nervous system. The 28-day mortality was 62.6% and 32.7% in the HASS and CASS groups, respectively(P < 0.001). Platelet [odds ratio (OR) = 0.996, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.992–1.000, P = 0.028], positive pathogendetection (OR = 3.557, 95% CI = 1.307–9.684, P = 0.013), and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (OR = 10.953, 95%CI = 1.974–60.775, P = 0.006) were risk factors for 28-day mortality in HASS patients. AIM: To investigate the association of lysyl oxidaselike 1(LOXL1) single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)with exfoliation syndrome(XFS)/exfoliation glaucoma(XFG).METHODS: Published manuscripts from Pub Med and EMBASE were identified until May 2014. Summary odds ratios(ORs) and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) for LOXL1(rs1048661, rs2165241 and rs3825942) polymorphisms and the risk of XFS/XFG were estimated using random-or fixed- effect model.· RESULTS: The three LOXL1 polymorphisms(rs1048661, rs3825942, and rs2165241) were associated with an increased risk for XFS/XFG among Caucasians,with OR 2.19(1.96-2.45), 8.8(6.05-12.79) and 3.41(3.11-3.73), respectively. On the contrast, the rs1048661 and rs2165241, but not rs3825942 polymorphism, have a potential protective effect on XFS/XFG in Asians, with OR0.06(0.02-0.18), 0.15(0.09-0.25), ***: There is strong evidence that LOXL1 polymorphisms are associated with XFS/XFG risk. The strength of risk might be ethnicity-dependent.
