Long-term medical treatment of patients with severe burns at exposed sites

BACKGROUND Body parts such as the face and hands are highly exposed during daily life and burns may accumulate in these *** addition,residual wounds,scar hyperplasia and contracture often exist in the late stage of a deep burn in these areas,which may affect patients’appearance,movements,and mental ***,inadequate attention has been paid to this issue which can result in problems,such as difficulty in healing,possibility of carcinoma,chronic pain and a heavy mental *** To investigate the long-term medical treatment of patients with severe burns at exposed sites following a mass burn casualty *** A retrospective analysis of 13 patients with severe burns at exposed sites was performed to determine their respective long-term medical treatment.A combined wound dressing scheme consisting of traditional Chinese and Western medicine was introduced to repair residual *** and passive functional exercises with massage,Chinese herbal baths and compression fixation were proposed to ameliorate the condition of the hands.A combination of physical,chemical and photoelectrical measures was adopted for anti-scar treatment.A psychological intervention and recovery guide was provided which corresponded to the patients’psychological *** Compared to patients who did not simultaneously receive the same treatment,patients who underwent systematic treatment recovered with a lower woundinfection rate(P<0.05),a shorter healing time(13.6±3.2 d)compared with(19.1±3.5 d)and more bearable pain during wound dressing at three days,one week and two weeks after a Chinese herbal bath(P<0.05).Satisfactory results were achieved with regard to restored function of patients’joints and blood supply to nerve endings,closure of the eyelids and the size of mouth opening tended to be normal,and only 7.1%of patients were diagnosed with severe scar hyperplasia and contracture deformity compared with 30.7%in the control *** addition,the color,thickness,va

Comparing Set Reconciliation Methods Based on Bloom Filters and Their Variants

Set reconciliation between two nodes is widely used in network applications. The basic idea is that each member of a node pair has an object set and seeks to deliver its unique objects to the other member. The Standard Bloom Filter （SBF） and its variants, such as the Invertible Bloom Filter （IBF）, are effective approaches to solving the set reconciliation problem. The SBF-based method requires each node to represent its objects using an SBF, which is exchanged with the other node. A receiving node queries the received SBF against its local objects to identify the unique objects. Finally, each node exchanges its unique objects with the other node in the node pair. For the IBF- based method, each node represents its objects using an IBF, which is then exchanged. A receiving node subtracts the received IBF from its local IBF so as to decode the different objects between the two sets. Intuitively, it would seem that the IBF-based method, with only one round of communication, entails less communication overhead than the SBF-based method, which incurs two rounds of communication. Our research results, however, indicate that neither of these two methods has an absolute advantages over the others. In this paper, we aim to provide an in-depth understanding of the two methods, by evaluating and comparing their communication overhead. We find that the best method depends on parameter settings. We demonstrate that the SBF-based method outperforms the IBF-based method in most cases. But when the number of different objects in the two sets is below a certain threshold, the IBF-based method outperforms the SBF-based method.

The quantum scattering dynamics calculations are carried out for the exchange and abstraction processes in the D(2S)+DS(2Ⅱ) reaction by the time-dependent wave-packet (TDWP) *** calculations are based on the high-quality ab initio potential energy surface of the reacting *** reaction probabilities and integral cross sections are obtained in the collision energy (Ecol) range of 0.0-2.0eV for the reactant DS initially in the ground state and the first vibrationally excited *** take the Coriolis coupling (CC) effect into account and present the comparison between the CC and the centrifugal sudden (CS) approximation *** dynamics results show that the initial vibrational excitation of DS enhances both abstraction and exchange processes except that it has little effect on the abstraction cross section in the high energy region.

Simple and Ultrahigh Efficient Superhydrophilic Polydopamine-coated TiO_(2) Cotton for Oil-water Separation

Oil–water mixing has brought many problems to a society, and it is of great significance to develop a simple, convenient, efficient, and durable separation material to solve the problem of oil–water mixing. In this paper, modified cottons were successfully prepared using polydopamine as the in situ mineralization site of TiO_(2) nanoparticles combined with synergistic crosslinking with KH550. A large number of hydrophilic groups endowed the cotton with superhydrophilic ability, which greatly shortened its water spreading time. The prepared modified cotton could be successfully separated from oil and water, and still had a separation efficiency of 99.999% after 50 cycles. In addition, after 24 h immersion in 1 M HCl, NaOH, and NaCl solutions and 50 abrasion experiments, the modified cotton showed excellent oil–water separation ability, and the separation efficiency was above 99.990%. Successfully provided a simple preparation method to prepare high-efficiency and clean cottons for oil–water separation.

Structure, charge transfer, and superconductivity of M-doped phenanthrene(M = Al, Ga, and In): A comparative study of K-doped cases

Aromatic hydrocarbons doped with K have been shown to be potential high-temperature superconductors. To investigate the doping effects of trivalent metals(Al, Ga, and In) that have a smaller radii than K, we studied the crystal structure, stability,charge transfer, band structure, and superconductivity of trivalent metal-doped phenanthrene via first-principles *** with Al/Ga/In considerably differs from doping with K and cannot be simply regarded as a linear developmental change in the structural and electronic characteristics caused by a change in the valence electron numbers. Al/Ga/In atoms are difficult to dope into the intralayer region, and the charge transfer is close to zero, which is far less than the effect of K doping. We found that the metallization of the Al/Ga/In-doped system originates from the formation of gap states instead of charge transfer. The weak superconductivity obtained in the Al/Ga/In-doped system is also different from the K-doped system. These results are helpful in terms of understanding the structure and superconductivity of metal-doped aromatic superconductors.

Morphology and magnetic properties of α-Fe_2O_3 particles prepared by octadecylamine-assisted hydrothermal method

α-Fe2O3 particles with various morphologies, including micro-doublesphere, tetrakaidecahedron and nanoparticles-aggregated micro-ellipsoid, were successfully synthesized via an octadecylamine-assisted hydrothermal method. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy （HRTEM）. The results indicate that the presence of octadecylamine played a crucial role in morphology evolution by selective crystal adsorption. The protonated octadecylamine increased the pH value that accelerated nucleation, and the long alkyl groups of octadecylamine acted as an adsorption inhibitor to retard the growth of nanoparticles. The as-prepared α-Fe2O3 particles exhibited higher remanent magnetization and coercivity than other α-Fe2O3 particles of similar size. These properties should be attributed to the superstructure and the shape anisotropy of the synthesized particles.
