AIM： To investigate the role of Livin and vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） in human esophageal carcinoma, and analyze its relationship to clinical stages.METHODS： Expression of Livin in fresh esophageal cancer tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry （IHC）, Western blotting and reverse transcriptasepolyrnerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）, and VEGF by Western blotting and RT-PCR. All statistical analyses were performed by SPSS version 11.0. RESULTS： Livin positivity was also significantly correlated with tumor stages, increasing with tumor progression. Expression of Livin and VEGF increased with the process of esophageal carcinoma. In the fourth clinical stage, expression of Livin and VEGF was the most significant. Expression of Livin was positively correlated with VEGF. CONCLUSION： Over-expression of Livin and VEGF contributes to the pathogenesis of esophageal carcinoma.

Chylothorax is a rare complication of neck dissection, and bilateral chylothorax is even rarer. However, both are potentially serious and sometimes life-threatening, especially those that are associated with left neck dissection for head and neck neoplasms. We report one case of bilateral chylothorax following left supraclavicular dissection for breast cancer. This case was treated successfully with a new conservative management approach.

AIM： To explore the effects of recombinant human growth hormone （rhGH） on intestinal mucosal epithelial cell proliferation and nutritional status in patients with enterocutaneous fistula. METHODS： Eight patients with enterocutaneous fistulas received recombinant human growth hormone （10 ug/d） for 7 d. Image analysis and immunohistochemical techniques were used to analyse the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen （PCNA） in intestinal mucosal epithelial cells in biopsy samples from the patients who had undergone an endoscopic biopsy through the fistula at day 0, 4 and 7. Body weights, nitrogen excretion, serum levels of total proteins, albumin, prealbumin, transferrin and fibronectin were measured at day 0, 4 and 7. RESULTS： Significant improvements occurred in the expression of PCNA in the intestinal mucosal epithelial cells at day 4 and 7 compared to day 0 （24.93 ± 3.41%, 30.46 ± 5.24% vs 12.92 ± 4.20%, p 〈 0.01）. These changes were accompanied by the significant improvement of villus height （500.54 ± 53.79 um, 459.03 ± 88.98um vs 210.94 ± 49.16 um, P 〈 0.01）, serum levels of total proteins （70.52 ± 5.13 g/L, 74.89 ± 5.16 g/L vs 63.51 ± 2.47 g/L, P 〈 0.01）, albumin （39.44 ± 1.18 g/L, 42.39 ± 1.68 g/L vs 35.74 ± 1.75 g/L, P 〈 0.01） and fibronectin （236.3 4- 16.5 mg/L, 275.8± 16.9 mg/L vs 172.5 ± 21.4 mg/L, P 〈 0.01） at day 4 and 7, and prealbumin （286.38 ± 65.61 mg/L vs 180.88 ± 48.28 mg/L, P 〈 0.05）, transferrin （2.61 ± 0.12 g/L vs 2.41 ±0.14 g/L, P 〈 0.05） at day 7. Nitrogen excretion was significantly decreased at day 7 （3.40 ± 1.65 g/d vs 7.25 ± 3.92 g/d, P 〈 0.05）. No change was observed in the body weight. CONCLUSION： Recombinant human growth hormone could promote intestinal mucosal epithelial cell proliferation and protein synthesis in patients with enterocutaneous fistula.

Breast cancer is a complex disease driven by multiple factors including both genetic and epigenetic *** studies revealed that abnormal gene expression induced by epigenetic changes,including aberrant promoter methylation and histone modification,plays a critical role in human breast *** of tumor suppressor genes(TSGs) by promoter CpG methylation facilitates cells growth and survival advantages and further results in tumor initiation and progression,thus directly contributing to breast ***,aberrant promoter methylation of TSGs,which can be reversed by pharmacological reagents,occurs at the early stage of tumorigenesis and therefore may serve as a potential tumor marker for early diagnosis and therapeutic targeting of breast *** this review,we summarize the epigenetic changes of multiple TSGs involved in breast pathogenesis and their potential clinical applications as tumor markers for early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

In response to the shortcomings of Dwarf Mongoose Optimization(DMO)algorithm,such as insufficient exploitation capability and slow convergence speed,this paper proposes a multi-strategy enhanced DMO,referred to as ***,we propose an improved solution search equation that utilizes the Gbest-guided strategy with different parameters to achieve a trade-off between exploration and exploitation(EE).Secondly,the Lévy flight is introduced to increase the diversity of population distribution and avoid the algorithm getting stuck in a local *** addition,in order to address the problem of low convergence efficiency of DMO,this study uses the strong nonlinear convergence factor Sigmaid function as the moving step size parameter of the mongoose during collective activities,and combines the strategy of the salp swarm leader with the mongoose for cooperative optimization,which enhances the search efficiency of agents and accelerating the convergence of the algorithm to the global optimal solution(Gbest).Subsequently,the superiority of GLSDMO is verified on CEC2017 and CEC2019,and the optimization effect of GLSDMO is analyzed in *** results show that GLSDMO is significantly superior to the compared algorithms in solution quality,robustness and global convergence rate on most test ***,the optimization performance of GLSDMO is verified on three classic engineering examples and one truss topology optimization *** simulation results show that GLSDMO achieves optimal costs on these real-world engineering problems.

As is the basic principle in interactive evolutionary computation (IEC) that the optima evolved by the algorithm should be the individuals that the user is most satisfied with. A rational user will keep consistent dominated relationship between the assigned fitness and his/her preference for the individuals. Even for rational users, it is unavoidable that the fitness he/she assigned contains noise. The result that the fitness noise caused by a rational user will not damage the basic principle in IEC is concluded. In order to prove the conclusion, two theorems separately named as strong condition and weak condition are put forward. The experiments and their results validate the theorems. As the successive issue, the relationship between the two conditions, the relationship between weak condition and fitness scaling, the true fitness in IEC, the definition of noise in IEC and so on are discussed. The results establish necessary foundation for future research.

In this paper, we consider a susceptible-infective-susceptible(SIS) reaction-diffusion epidemic model with spontaneous infection and logistic source in a periodically evolving domain. Using the iterative technique,the uniform boundedness of solution is established. In addition, the spatial-temporal risk index R0(ρ) depending on the domain evolution rate ρ(t) as well as its analytical properties are discussed. The monotonicity of R0(ρ)with respect to the diffusion coefficients of the infected dI, the spontaneous infection rate η(ρ(t)y) and interval length L is investigated under appropriate conditions. Further, the existence and asymptotic behavior of periodic endemic equilibria are explored by upper and lower solution method. Finally, some numerical simulations are presented to illustrate our analytical results. Our results provide valuable information for disease control and prevention.

A model reduction approach is presented for discrete-time linear time-variant input-delayed systems. According to this proposed approach, a dynamical variable is constructed by taking advantage of the current state and historical information of input. It is revealed that the behavior of this dynamical variable is governed by a discrete-time linear delay-free system. It is worth noting that the presented variable transformation does not require the system matrix to be invertible. Based on the reduced delay-free models,stabilizing control laws can be easily obtained for the original delayed system. For the case with a single input delay, the constructed variable is an exact prediction for the future state, and thus the stabilizing control law could be designed by replacing the future state with its prediction. Finally, three discrete-time periodic systems with delayed input are employed to illustrate how to utilize the presented model reduction approaches.
