Evaluation of the treatment effect of rear slope cutting on hydrodynamic pressure landslides:A case study

After the impoundment of the Three Gorges Reservoir,some huge ancient landslides were reactivated and deformed,showing typical hydrodynamic pressure landslide *** Baishuihe landslide was a typical hydrodynamic pressure *** management department conducted slope cutting treatments from 2.18 to *** evaluate the treatment effect of rear slope cutting,this study analyzed the data of the surface deformation survey and field monitoring over the past 2. years and the characteristics of the reservoir water-triggered Baishuihe landslide deformation,and calculated the seepage field,displacement field,and stability coefficient before and after landslide *** results showed that the deformation of the Baishuihe landslide was primarily related to a decrease in the reservoir water *** to the poor permeability of the landslide soil,the decrease in the reservoir water level produced a seepage force pointing to the outside of the landslide body,leading to the step deformation of the landslide *** landslide was treated by rear slope cutting,and the“step”deformation of the landslide disappeared after *** hydrodynamic pressure caused by the change in reservoir water after cutting the slope did not ***,as the slope cutting greatly reduced the overall sliding force of the landslide,its stability was greatly ***,high stability can still be ensured under extreme rainfall after *** cutting is effective for treating hydrodynamic pressure *** study can provide effective technical support for the treatment of reservoir landslides.

This study is about the reconstruction of fluvial origins based on the grain size distribution of sediment deposits in the western Laizhou Bay,Bohai Sea,*** sediment cores were selected to research sediment characteristics using the Sahu discriminant formula,C-M diagram,and Folk *** results showed:(1)Bounded by the Guangli River estuary,the north sediment was affected by the water and sand flowing from the Yellow River during different *** south sediment came from multi-source rivers under the influence of the Xiaoqing River,Mihe River,and other coastal rivers;(2.the deposited sediments were dated by a clear historical record of the branched channel oscillation combined with the characteristics of the diversion channel,erosion,and *** subaqueous delta overlapped during several Yellow River channel runs(1897–1904,192.–1934,1938–1947,1947–1953,1976–1996)and the deposited sediment facies changed(the north tidal flat-abandoned subaqueous delta-lateral delta-delta front);(3)the deposited sediment characteristics can be revealed by studying the branched diversions of the Yellow River and coastal multi-rivers of the past one hundred years.

Mantle branch structure is the third tectonic unit of multiple evolution of a mantle branch. It is not only the main mechanism of intercontinental orogeny, but also an important ore-forming and ore-control structure. Studies on geotectonic evolution, regional geological characteristics and oreforming and ore-control structures have shown that since the Mesozoic the Da Hinggan Mts. region has entered a typical intercontinental orogenic stage, and it is closely related to mantle branch activities. The south-central segment of the Da Hinggan Mts. is a typical mantle branch structure and possesses obvious magmatic-metamorphic complexes in the core, detachment slip beds in the periphery and overlapped fault depression basins. Moreover, all of these are the principal factors leading to ore formation and ore control in the region. This paper also further explores the mechanism of {2.ization in the south-central segment of the Da Hinggan, summaries the rules of {2.ization, puts forward the models of {2.ization and points out future ore-exploring orientation.

Nan'an Basin is a giant hydrocarbon basin,but its tectonic division scheme and associated fault systems has not been well *** on newly acquired seismic data from the southwestern margin of the south China Sea,this study analyzed the structural units,tectonic feature and geodynamics of the sedimentary *** new data suggests that the Nan0 an Basin is a rift basin oriented in the NE-SW direction,rather than a pull-apart basin induced by strike-slip faults along the western *** basin is a continuation of the rifts in the southwest south China Sea since the late *** continued rifting until the middle Miocene,even though oceanic crust occurred in the southwest ***,it had no transfer surface at the end of spreading,where it was characterized by a late middle Miocene unconformity(reflector T3).The Nan'an Basin can be divided into eight structural units by a series of NE-striking *** study provides evidences to confirm the relative importance and interplay between regional strike-slips and orthogonal displacement during basin development and *** NE-SW-striking dominant rift basin indicates that the geodynamic drivers of tectonic evolution in the western margin of the south China Sea did not have a large strike-slip ***,we conclude that a large strike-slip fault system did not exist in the western margin of the south China Sea.

High concentrated and heterogeneous distribution of gas hydrates have been identified in the gas hydrate production test region in the Shenhu area,south China *** gas hydrate-bearing sediments with high saturation locate at two ridges of submarine canyon with different thickness and saturations just above the bottom simulating *** crossplots of gamma ray,acoustic impedance(P-impedance)and porosity at four sites show that the sediments can be divided into the upper and lower layers at different depths,indicating different geotechnical reservoir ***,the depositional environments and physical properties at two ridges are analyzed and compared to show the different characteristics of hydrate *** porosity,high P-wave velocity,and coarse grain size indicate better reservoir quality and higher energy depositional environment for gas hydrate at Sites W18 and W19 than those at Sites W11 and *** interpretation is that the base of canyon deposits at Sites W18 and W19 characterized by upward-coarsening units may be turbidity sand layers,thus significantly improving the reservoir quality with increasing gas hydrate *** shelf and slope sliding deposits compose of the fine-grained sediments at Sites W11 and *** gas hydrate production test sites were conducted at the ridge of W11 and W17,mainly because of the thicker and larger area of gas hydrate-bearing reservoirs than those at Sites W18 and *** the results provide useful insights for assessing reservoir quality in the Shenhu area.

Based on the seismic data gathered in past years and the correlation between the sea and land areas of the Lower Yangtze Platform,the structural characteristics of the south Yellow Sea Basin since the Indosinian tectonic movement is studied in this *** stages of structural deformation can be distinguished in the south Yellow Sea Basin since the *** first stage,Late Indosinian to Early Yanshanian, was dominated by foreland deformation including both the uplifting and subsidence stages under an intensively compressional *** second stage,which is called the Huangqiao Event in the middle Yanshanian,was a change for stress fields from compression to *** in the third stage (the Sanduo Event)in the Late Himalayan,the basin developed a depression in the Neogene-Quatemary after rifting in the Late *** long-time evolution controlled 3 basin formation stages from a foreland basin,then a fault basin to a final depression *** conclusion,since the Indosinian,the south Yellow Sea Basin has experienced compressional fold and thrust,collisional orogen,compressional and tensional pulsation,strike-slip,extensional fault block and inversion structures,compression and *** NE,NEE,nearly EW and NW trending structures developed in the *** west to east,the structural trend changed from NEE to near EW to *** from north to south,they changed from NEE to near EW with a strong-weak-strong zoning ***,the marine and terrestrial facies basins show a "seesaw"pattern with fold and thrust in the early stages,which is strong in the north and weak in the south and an extensional fault in later stages,which is strong in the north and weak in the *** the marine facies'basin,thrust deformation is more prevailing in the upper structural layer than that in the lower *** tectonic mechanism in the south Yellow Sea Basin is mainly affected by the collision between the Yangtze and North China

The MS6.4 Menyuan earthquake occurred on the northern side of the Lenglongling fault(LLLF) in the mid-western of the Qilian-Haiyuan fault zone on January 2., 2.16. The earthquake epicenter was distant from the Minle-Damaying and Huangcheng-Shuangta faults, eastern of the Northern Qilian Shan fault zone. A near northwest-striking rupture plane intersects the two faults at a certain angle. The focal mechanism solution shows that this was a thrust-type earthquake, slightly different from the strike-slip movement with a thrust component of the LLLF. Field geological mapping, tectonic geomorphology analysis, trench excavation and 14 C dating reveal that(1) the LLLF has been obviously active since the Holocene, and may behave with characteristic slip behavior and produce M_W7.3–7.5 earthquakes;(2. the LLLF appears as a flower structure in terms of structure style, and dips NNE at a steep angle; and(3) the most recent earthquake event occurred after 1815–1065 a BP. An associated fault, the Northern Lenglongling fault(NLLLF), is located at the northwestern end of the LLLF. Consequently, the NLLLF was continually subject to tectonic pushing effects from the left-lateral shear at the end of the LLLF, and, accordingly, it bent and rotated outward ***, the fault deviated from the dominant rupture azimuth and activity weakened. In the late Quaternary, it behaved as a thrust fault with no obvious deformation at the surface. This is indicated by the arc shape, with a micro-protrusion northeastward,and no geologic or geomorphic signs of surface rupturing since the late Quaternary. However, such faults could still rupture at depth, producing moderate-strong earthquakes. The geometric and kinematic properties of the NLLLF are in good agreement with the occurrence and kinematic properties of nodal plane 2. and with the distribution characteristics of the aftershocks and seismic intensity. Therefore, the NLLLF is a more suitable seismogenic structure for the MS 6.

The Narooma-Batemans Bay(NBB)area along the southeast coast of Australia is a part of the eastern zone of the Early Paleozoic Lachlan *** the NBB,a set of rock association consisting of turbidites,siliceous rock,basic lava,and argillaceous melange zone is mainly *** to systematic field geological {2.,the deformation of 3 stages(D1,D2.and D3)was identified in the *** stage D1,with the original bedding S0 in a nearly east-west trending as the deformation plane,tight folds,isoclinal folds,and other structures formed in the NBB accompanied by structural *** a result,crenulation cleavage developed along the axial plane of the folds and schistosity S1 *** stage D2.with north-south-trending schistosity S1 as the deformation plane,a large number of asymmetrical folds and rotated porphyroclasts formed owing to thrusting and *** stage D3,leftlateral strike-slip occurred along the main north-south-trending *** on the analysis of the characteristics of tectonic deformation in the NBB and summary of previous research results,it is determined that the early-stage(D1)deformation is related to Ordovician Macquarie arc-continent collision and the deformation at stages D2.and D3 is the result of the westward subduction of Paleo-Pacific *** is,it is not the continuous westward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate that constitutes the evolution model of the NBB as previously considered.
