Objective: In recent years, attempting the biventricular pathway or biventricular conversions in patients with borderline ventricle has become a hot topic. However, inappropriate pursuit of biventricular repair in borderline candidates will lead to adverse clinical outcomes. Therefore, it is important to accurately assess the degree of ventricular development before operation and whether it can tolerate biventricular repair. This review evaluated ventricular development using echocardiography for a better prediction of biventricular repair in borderline ventricle. Data sources: Articles from January 1, 1990 to April 1, 2019 on biventricular repair in borderline ventricle were accessed from PubMed, using keywords including "borderline ventricle,""congenital heart disease,""CHD,""echocardiography," and "biventricular repair." Study selection: Original articles and critical reviews relevant to the review’s theme were selected. Results: Borderline left ventricle (LV):(1) Critical aortic stenosis: the Rhodes score, Congenital Heart Surgeons Society regression equation and another new scoring system was proposed to predict the feasibility of biventricular repair.(2) Aortic arch hypoplasia: the LV size and the diameter of aortic and mitral valve (MV) annulus should be taken into considerations for biventricular repair.(3) Right-dominant unbalanced atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD): atrioventricular valve index (AVVI), left ventricular inflow index (LVII), and right ventricle (RV)/LV inflow angle were the echocardiographic indices for biventricular repair. Borderline RV:(1) pulmonary atresia/intact ventricular septum (PA/IVS): the diameter z-score of tricuspid valve (TV) annulus, ratio of TV to MV diameter, RV inlet length z-score, RV area z-score, RV development index, and RV-TV index, etc. Less objective but more practical description is to classify the RV as tripartite, bipartite, and unipartite. The in-ice or in-water Cherenkov neutrino telescope,such as IceCube,has already proved its power in measuring the Glashow resonance by searching for the bump around E_(ν)=6.3PeV arising from the W-boson *** are many proposals for the next few decades for observations of cosmic tau neutrinos with extensive air showers,also known as tau neutrino *** air shower telescope is,in principle,sensitive to the Glashow resonance via the channel W→τν_(τ)followed by the tau decay in the air(e.g.,TAMBO,which has a geometric area of approximately 500km^(2)).Using a thorough numerical analysis,we find that the discovery significance can be up to 90%with a TAMBO-like setup if PeV neutrinos primarily originate from neutron decays,considering the flux parameters measured by IceCube as the *** presence of new physics affecting the neutrino flavor composition can also increase the ***,if ultrahigh-energy neutrinos are dominantly produced from meson decays,it will be statistically difficult for an advanced proposal such as TAMBO to discriminate the Glashow resonance induced byν¯e from the intrinsicντ/ν¯_(τ)*** have identified several limitations for such advanced telescopes,in comparison with the in-ice or in-water telescope,when measuring resonances:(i)a suppressed branching ratio of 11%for the decay W→τν_(τ);(ii)the smearing effect and reduced acceptance because the daughter neutrino takes away(y)∼75%of the energy from the W decay;and(iii)a large attenuation effect for Earth-skimming neutrinos with the resonance.

Bismuth-based anode materials have been regarded as promising Li-ion batteries due to their high theoretical ***,their low conductivity and associated volume expansion inhabited their *** this work,Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)@C composites were successfully synthesized by in situ anchoring of flower-like Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3) nanosheets on a carbon-based substrate via *** unique composited structure of Bi_2O_(2)-CO_(3)@C leads to a stable specific capacity of 547 mAh·g^(-1)after 100 cycles at a current density of 0.1 A·g^(-1).Notably,it demonstrates excellent rate capability with a specific capacity of 210 mAh·g^(-1)at 5 A·g^(-1).After 550 cycles at a current density of 0.5 A·g^(-1),a high reversible capacity of nearly 400 mAh·g^(-1)was ***,in situ X-ray diffraction measurements clearly demonstrate the conversion between Bi and Li_(3)Bi during alloying/dealloying,confirming the good electrochemical reversibility of the materials for Li *** reaction kinetics of Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)@C were further investigated using galvanostatic intermittent titration ***,Bi_2O_(2)-CO_(3)@C exhibited excellent long-term stability,maintaining its high reversible capacity for over 200 cycles at a current density of 0.5 A·g^(-1)in a full cell configuration using Li_(1.20)Mn_(0.54)Ni_(0.13)Co_(0.13)O_(2) as the cathode *** result further underscores its promising potential for lithium-ion *** work may provide inspiration for the design of alloy-type negative electrode materials for high-performance rechargeable batteries.

Effect of height-diameter ratio on the mechanical characteristics of shale with different bedding orientations

Geological exploration cores obtained from shale gas wells several kilometers deep often show different height-diameter ratios(H/D)because of complex geological conditions(core disking or developed fractures),which makes further standard specimen preparation for mechanical evaluation of reservoirs *** multi-cluster hydraulic fracturing,shale reservoirs between planes of hydraulic fractures with different lengths could be simplified to have different H/D *** the effect of H/D on the mechanical characteristics of shale specimens with different bedding orientations will support mechanical evaluation tests of reservoirs based on disked geological cores and help to optimize multicluster fracturing *** this study,we performed uniaxial compression tests and acoustic emission(AE)monitoring on cylindrical Longmaxi shale specimens under five bedding orientations and four H/D *** experimental results showed that both the H/D-dependent mechanical properties and AE parameters demonstrated significant *** H/D did not change the uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)evolution versus bedding orientation,demonstrating a V-shaped relationship,but enhanced the curve *** stress level of crack damage for the specimens significantly increased with increasing H/D,excluding the specimens with a bedding orientation of 0°.With increasing H/D,the cumulative AE counts of the specimens with each bedding orientation tended to exhibit a stepped jump against the loading *** proportion of low-average-frequency AE signals(below 100 kHz)in specimens with bedding orientations of 45°and 60°increased to over 70%by increasing H/D,but it only increased to 40%in specimens with bedding orientations of 0°,30°,and 90°.Finally,an empirical model that can reveal the effect of H/D on anisotropic UCS of shale reservoir was proposed,the anisotropic proportion of tensile and shear failure cracks in specimens under four H/D ratios was classified based o
