Triadimefon(TDm)and cyproconazole(CPZ)are two triazoles widely used as *** azoles were synthe-sised starting from commercial TDm and *** compounds were evaluated against phytopathogenic filamentous fungi,including Aspergillus fumigatus(AF),***(AN),***(AU),***(AJ),***(AT),Fusarium oxyspo-rum and Botrytis cinerea isolated from grapevine in the province of San Juan,*** of the synthesised compounds(1-(Biphenyl-4-yloxy)-3,3-dimethyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butan-2-one,1;2-(Biphenyl-4-yl)-3-cyclopropyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butan-2-ol,3;3-Cyclopropyl-2-(4’-fluorobiphenyl-4-yl)-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol1-yl)butan-2-ol,4)presented remarkable in vitro fungicidal properties,with better effects than TDm and CPZ on some of the target *** was assessed using human lung fibroblasts *** 1,with IC50 values of 389.4μm,was less toxic towards mRC-5 human lung fibroblasts than commercial TDm(248.5μm)and CPZ(267.4μm).Docking analysis and molecular dynamics simulations suggest that the compounds present the same interaction in the binding pocket of the CYP51B enzyme and with the same amino acids as *** derivatives investigated could be considered broad-spectrum but with some selectivity towards imperfect fungi.

In allergies, an unbalanced immune response towards a T helper (Th) 2 profile with high levels of Immunoglobulin (Ig) E is produced. We have demonstrated that the pre-administration of Enterococcus faecalis CECT7121 prevents the development of allergy in ovalbumin-immunized mice. In this work, we evaluated whether this bacterium can also revert an established allergic status. mice were immunized with ovalbumin (OVA) and after that, were inoculated with an E. faecalis CECT7121 suspension. In immunized animals, serum specific immune response, proliferative activity of memory splenocytes, and levels of Th2 cytokines were assessed. The in vivo active cutaneous anaphylaxis test was also performed. The treatment with E. faecalis CECT7121 only increased anti-OVA IgG2a levels. No differences were observed in other specific immunological parameters. Probiotic-treatment did not prove to have any desensitizing effect on mice. These results, together with those recently published, can be concluded that this bacterium would not be appropriate for the treatment of allergic symptoms.

A chronosequence analysis of forest recovery on abandoned agricultural fields in Nicaragua

Species composition, diversity and population structure of woody species recovered on three abandoned agricultural fields after 4, 9 and 14 years were characterized. Seedlings, saplings/poles and mature trees were identified and counted in 70 plots of 100 m2 in each abandoned site. A total of 13, 29 and 22 families represented by 17, 48 and 44 species were registered in 4-, 9-and 14-year-old stands, respectively. There was a shift in dominant species across successional stages. Lonchocarpus acuminatus had the highest importance value in the 4-year old stand, whereas, myrospermun frutescens, Guazuma ulmifolia and Cordia alliodora had the highest importance value in the 9-year-old-stand and Caesaeria corymbosa, muntingia calabura, Gliricidia sepium and Tabebuia rosea in the 14-year-old stand. The total stem density increased from 5011 to 9631 individuals per hectare as the age of abandonment increased from 4 to 14 years. The total basal area of individuals ≥ 1cm d.b.h. also increased with the age of abandonment. Overall, small individuals (m dbh) contributed to more than half of the total basal area. Species diversity was the highest in the 9-year old stand followed by 14-and 4-year-old stands. We concluded that floristic composition of secondary forests recovers rapidly to the mature forest level compared to structural attributes, which is consistent with the general successional trajectories of tropical dry forest.

BACKGROUND The outcomes of Hodgkin's lymphoma(HL)in mexico have not been widely *** and affordable treatments have been adopted in middleincome *** The aim was to evaluate long-used therapies for HL in mexico in a long-term *** In a 34-year time period,88 patients with HL were treated at a single institution in *** were treated with adriamycin bleomycin vinblastine and dacarbazine(ABVD)or mechlorethamine,vincristine,procarbazine,and prednisone(mOPP).Relapsed or refractory patients were given ifosfamide,carboplatin,and etoposide(ICE)followed by autologous or allogeneic stem cell *** Thirty-seven women and 51 men were included;the median age was 29 *** were followed for a mean of 128 *** 310-mo overall survival(OS)was 83%for patients treated with mOPP and 88%for those treated with *** OS of patients who received autologous stem cell transplantation was 76%(330 mo)vs 93%(402 mo)in those who did *** HL may be less aggressive in mexican population than in *** chemotherapy renders acceptable results,regardless of clinical stage.

Effect of a 5% Neem Solution on the Presence of Ticks in Cattle in Two Locations in Jalisco, mexico

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of a 5% neem extract on the presence of ticks. Forty creole cattle were used, divided into four groups: 2 experimental and 2 controls, in the towns of Cocula and El Chante, Jalisco. The tick count was by direct palpation, and with an acarometer (25 cm2). Eight body regions were evaluated: neck, thorax, flank and thigh, left and right. At zero time, after the initial tick count, it was applied by spraying and once, the 5% neem extract, at a dose of 10 ml/L. Ticks were quantified at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days post-treatment. The data were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis and Sum of Kruskal-Wallis Ranges (α = 0.05) (SigmaStat 3.1). In Cocula, at zero time, the average of ticks was in neck 32, in thorax 64, in flanks 96 and in thighs 129 (average per animal 323 ticks). In subsequent sampling, the average decreased in the experimental group to 1 or 4 parasites. In “El Chante”, an average of 60 ticks was found at the time of the neck, in the thorax 121, in flanks 181 and in thighs 242 (average per animal 600 ticks). In subsequent sampling, the average decreased in the experimental group, with averages of 1 to 4. Statistical differences (p ≤ 0.001) were found between the groups. It can be concluded that 5% neem extract has a repellent and tick effect in cattle for at least 42 days.

Conventional methods for precious metals gravimetric concentration involve equipment such as shaking tables, centrifuging concentrators, jigs, trommels, or a combination of those. A less commonly used technique is elutriation, which represents an efficient, safe and low-cost method of separation. The goal of the present investigation was to make a comparative study of gold concentration by elutriation from different precious metal bearing ores: an oxide ore, a mineral consisting of a sulfide matrix, a mineral in which the precious metals are free and disseminated and a slimy and clayey black sand material. The best recoveries of precious metals by elutriation were attained for the free disseminated ore and for the black sands, obtaining gold recoveries of 70% and 96% respectively, with appreciable ratios of concentration as well.

This work presents a study about the structure and morphology of thin plasma composite films of polythiophene (PTh) with metallic particles of Ti (PTh-Ti). The objective was to study the water affinity and electric conductivity in PTh with the addition of metallic phases. The hydrophilicity was studied with the contact angles formed between water and surfaces, and the electric conductivity was calculated with the resistance measured in a two-probe device. The structure and morphology of the composites were studied with X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicated that PTh-Ti formed thin films of hybrid composites with oxidized Ti and Fe additional particles released from the electrodes used in the syntheses. The metallic fraction resulted in 2 diffraction angles at 31.6° and 66.1° product of the complex interaction among Ti, resembling orthorhombic TiO2 structures, and PTh. The metallic particles and iodine, added as a dopant to the composites to increase conductivity, reduced the hydrophilicity with water in a competition between roughness and chemical composition. In these conditions, the contact angles resulted between 46° and 75°. The electric conductivity was about 10-6 S/m increasing one order of magnitude with the metallic fraction. However, the high resistance of the polymeric fraction apparently dominates the transference of charges.

AIm： To determine the association of Helicobacter pylori （H pylorl） CagA^＋ infection and pro-inflammatory polymorphisms of the genes interleukin （IL）-IRN and IL-1B with the risk of gastric atrophy and peptic ulcers in a dyspeptic population in Costa Rica, a country with high incidence and mortality of gastric cancer. mETHODS： Seven biopsy specimens, a fasting blood sample and a questionnaire concerning nutritional and sociodemographic factors were obtained from 501 consecutive patients who had undergone endoscopy for dyspeptic symptoms. A histopathological diagnosis was made. Pepsinogen concentrations were analyzed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）. Infection with H pylori CagA^＋ was determined by serology and polymerase chain reaction （PCR）. IL-1B and IL-1RN polymorphisms genotyping was performed by PCRrestriction fragment length polymorphism （PCR-RFIP）and PCR respectively. RESULTS： In this dyspeptic population, 86% were Hpylori positive and of these, 67.8% were positive for CagA. Atrophic antral gastritis （AAG） was associated with CagA^＋ status [odd ratio （OR） = 4.1; P 〈 0.000] and fruit consumption （OR = 0.3; P 〈 0.00）. Atrophic body gastritis （ABG） was associated with pepsinogen PGI/PGII 〈 3.4 （OR = 4.9; P 〈 0.04） and alcohol consumption （OR = 7.3; P 〈 0.02）. Duodenal ulcer was associated with CagA^＋（OR = 2.9; P 〈 0.04） and smoking （OR = 2.4; P 〈 0.04）. PGI 〈 60 μg/L as well as PGI/PGII 〈 3.4 were associated with CagA^＋. CONCLUSION： In a dyspeptic population in Costa Rica, H pylori CagA^＋ is not associated with ABG, but it is a risk factor for AAG. The pro-inflammatory cytokine poly- morphisms IL-1B ＋ 3945 and IL-1RN are not associated with the atrophic lesions of this dyspeptic population.

This work presents the pathology description, isolation and identification of canine herpesvirus (CHV-1) in mexico, a virus that causes a generalized hemorrhagic infection in puppies from the canidae family. methods: Isolates were obtained from puppies that died within the first four weeks of life and had lesions consistent with canine herpesvirus. Results: The main gross lesions were petechial and ecchymotic hemorrhages in kidneys, liver and lungs;proliferative interstitial nephritis;multifocal necrosis in liver and kidneys;and encephalitis with intranuclear inclusion bodies. Herpesvirus was confirmed through direct immunofluorescence, electron microscopy and polymerase chain reaction for DNA polymerase and glycoprotein B genes. Discussion: Eight strains were isolated and identified as canine herpesvirus corresponding to three of the working cases with gross and microscopic lesions very similar to those described in the literature;then, isolates were confirmed by PCR gene amplification, positive reactions on immunofluorescence and observations from electron microscopy. This work represents the first report of this disease, including gross and histological lesions, and confirmation by isolation and identification of the canine herpesvirus in mexico.
