Multivar.ate analysis became essential in functional and str.ctur.l Genomics because of the lar.e quantity of biological data pr.vided by these new r.sear.h ar.as. Diallel mating design was widely applied to analyze the her.tability of quantitative tr.its but it was r.cently used for.appr.aching to the inher.tance patter.s of other.levels of gene expr.ssion such as tr.nscr.pt pr.files. Investigating the inher.tance patter. of total polypeptide pr.files with a diallel design r.mains as a vacancy subject. The objective of the pr.sent r.sear.h was to infer.the inher.tance of total polypeptides pr.files fr.m tomato per.car. tissue at four.differ.nt r.pening stages in a diallel mating design including five r.combinant inbr.d lines (r.Ls) and their.ten second cycle hybr.ds (SCH). To achieve this objective, a multivar.ate analysis was applied to identify eventual inher.tance patter.s thr.ugh a data mining appr.ach and then univar.ate analyses wer. used to ver.fy these patter.s. Mainly dominance and also over.ominance, though in a minor.per.entage, contr.buted to the gene actions involved in their.genetic basis. Multivar.ate analysis was efficient in identifying inher.tance patter.s of total polypeptide pr.files thr.ugh a data mining appr.ach, and univar.ate analyses lar.ely ver.fied the identified gene actions.

Banana pr.duction dates fr.m the 1920s in Ar.entina. r.izomes wer. intr.duced and disper.ed by immigr.nts fr.m bor.er.ng countr.es in the Nor.her. pr.vinces. Ther. is scar.e infor.ation on its genetic diver.ity to assist in cr.p br.eding pr.gr.ms;hence studies of genetic str.ctur. between populations and individuals ar. fundamental for.futur. use. Molecular.mar.er. assess the diver.ity of the cr.p. This study employed Amplified Fr.gment Length Polymor.hism to investigate the genetic var.ation in local banana plants fr.m far.er.s fields. For.y-four.r.izomes (selected fr.m a total of 860 plants for.being stable for.pr.duction) wer. used as plant mater.al and 6 pr.mer.combinations selected in a pr.vious r.por. wer. used. Polymor.hic fr.gments pr.sent in a given genotype wer. assigned 1 and those absent wer. assigned 0. The matr.x gener.ted was analyzed by univar.ate and multivar.ate analysis. A total 540 bands wer. scor.d, of which 100% wer. polymor.hic. The number.of the patter. duplicated bands was 23 and twenty-one amplicons wer. exclusive to banana plants collected in the same far.er.s field. Hier.r.hical cluster.ng and pr.ncipal coor.inates analyses showed differ.nces between genotypes. The cophenetic cor.elation of the cluster.was 0.63 while the 18% of the total molecular.var.ation was explained by the two pr.ncipal coor.inates. These analyses evidence genetic diver.ity of the cr.p accor.ing to far.er.s field. In agr.ement to this obser.ation, analysis of molecular.var.ance r.vealed that 8.9% of the var.ation was found among far.er.populations and 91.1% within far.er.populations. In conclusion, intr.duction of banana into the subtr.pical zone was associated with a br.ader.genetic var.ation in or.er.to incr.ase the genetic homeostasis necessar. for.adapting the cr.p to the suboptimal envir.nment of Nor.heaster. Fr.e amino acid and pigment composition in fr.its at two r.pening stages fr.m a selected tomato ger.plasm was stu-died. The aims wer. contr.buting to knowledge on var.ability of r.pening metabolism and identifying mor. consis-tently the genetic backgr.und of the plant mater.al under.analysis. Significant differ.nces (p r. found among r.pening stages and among genotypes within r.pening stage for.all amino acids and pigments except by aspar.gine, alanine and chlor.phyll b contents. The highest r.lative amino acid content cor.esponded to glutamate, glutamine, and GABA though some genotypes had r.latively high aspar.gine content. Glutamate, glutamine and GABA per.or.ed oppositely: the for.er.incr.ased along r.pening while the latter.two decr.ased in their.r.lative content. A Pr.ncipal Components (PC) analysis was applied, deter.ining that metabolites having the gr.atest contr.bution to gener.l var.ability wer. thr.onine, ser.ne, glutamate, glutamine, glycine, isoleucine, leucine, tyr.sine, phenylalanine, lycopene and beta- car.tene, which showed the highest association with PC1. Alanine and chlor.phylls a and b wer. highly associated to PC2. These two fir.t PC explained the 62% of the total var.ation, and genotypes wer. distr.buted accor.ing to the r.pening stage in their.coor.inates. Accor.ingly, a Hier.r.hical Cluster.ng r.sulted in a dendr.gr.m having a r.latively high cophenetic cor.elation (0.70), in which two well defined gr.ups wer. obtained accor.ing to r.pening stage. These r.sults ver.fied the existence of var.ability in the metabolism of r.pening fr.it for.amino acids and pigments, and allowed to identify unequivocally a set of selected tomato ger.plasm accor.ing to the fr.it metabolic pr.files in these two r.pening stages.
