The Preandean geological configuration of the eastern North Patagonian Massif is established through the use of geological and geophysical *** positive gravity anomalies located near the Atlantic coast are due to 535 and 540 Ma old rocks belonging to the Pampean Orogeny （Precambrian-middle Cambrian）,which are widely recognized in central and northern *** Famatinian Cycle （Ordovician-Devonian） is represented by a Silurian-Devonian marine basin equivalent to those of eastern-central Argentina and South Africa,and which was deformed at the end of the Devonian byan～E-W to WNW-ESE compressional event,part of the Famatinian *** strong gravity gradients,the NW-SE belt is coincident with fault zones which were originated during the Gondwanide *** event also produced NW-SE overthrusting of the Silurian-Devonian sequences and strike-slip faults that displaced blocks in the same *** deformation event belongs to the Gondwanide Orogeny that includes movements related to a counterclockwise rotation of blocks in northern *** strong negative anomalies located in the western part of the area stem from the presence of rocks of the Jurassic Ca（n）adón Asfalto basin interbedded in the Marifil *** volcaniclastic sequences show mild deformation of accommodation zones in a pre-Jurassic paleorelief.

A tribute to Dr Arnold *** This perspective was written in celebration of Dr Arnold ***'s 80th birthday.I chose to write this prospective about restoration of p53 activity in tumors for two reasons:Arnie (as we all know him) has become interested in restoring p53 activity in tumor cells and such a review did not *** was also my postdoctoral advisor and writing this perspective is just a small tribute for the huge impact he has had on my research career (and that of many others),from supporting me when I left his laboratory for a faculty position before I had even published a paper,to serving as a sounding board for numerous ideas.

Mdm proteins： critical regulators of embryogenesis and hornoeostasis

Mdm2 and Mdm4 are negative regulators of the tumour suppressor p53; hence, this relationship is the focus of many cancerrelated studies. A multitude of experiments across various developmental stages have been conducted to explore the tissuespecific roles of these proteins in the mouse. When Mdm2 or Mdm4 are deleted in the germiine or specific tissues, they display different phenotypic defects, some of which lead to embryonic lethaLity. Mdm2 loss is often more deleterious than toss of its homotogue Mdm4. ALL tissues experience activation of p53 target genes upon toss of Mdm2 or Mdm4; however, the degree to which the p53 pathway is perturbed is highly tissue-specific and does not correlate to the severity of the morphological pheno- types. Therefore, a need for further understanding of how these proteins regulate p53 activity is warranted, as therapeutic targeting of the p53 pathway is rapidly evoLving and gaining attention in the field of cancer research. In this review, we discuss the tissue-specificity of Mdm proteins in regulating p53 and expose the need for investigation at the celt-specific level.

An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Model for Predicting Water Absorption of Nanoclay-Epoxy Composites

Glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GFRE) composite materials are prone to suffer from water absorption due to their heterogeneous structure. The main process governing water absorption is diffusion of water molecules through the epoxy matrix. However, hydrolytic degradation may also take place during components service life specially due high temperatures. In order to mitigate the effects of the water diffusive processes in the deterioration of in-service behavior of epoxy matrix composites, the use of chemically modified nanoclays as an additive has been proposed and studied in previous works [1]. In this work, an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model was developed for better understanding and predicting the influence of modified and unmodified bentonite addition on the water absorption behavior of epoxy-anhydride systems. An excellent correlation between model and experimental data was found. The ANN model allowed the identification of critical points like the precise temperature at which a particular system’s water uptake goes beyond a predefined threshold, or which system will resist an immersion longer than a particular time.

Capillary electrophoresis to determine entrapment efficiency of a nanostructured lipid carrier loaded with piroxicam

A simple and fast capillary electrophoresis method has been developed to determine the amount of piroxicam loaded in a drug delivery system based on nanostructured lipid carriers（NLCs）.The entrapment efficiency of the nanostructured lipid carrier was estimated by measuring the concentration of drug not entrapped in a suspension of *** influence of different parameters on migration times,peak symmetry,efficiency and resolution was studied;these parameters included the pH of the electrophoretic buffer solution and the applied *** piroxicam peak was obtained with a satisfactory *** separation was carried out using a running buffer composed of 50 mM ammonium acetate and 13.75 mM ammonia at pH *** optimal voltage was 20 kV and the cartridge temperature was 20 ℃.The corresponding calibration curve was linear over the range of 2.7-5.4 μg/mL of NLC *** reproducibility of migration time and peak area were investigated,and the obtained RSD%values（n = 5） were 0.99 and ***.

Transport-Limited Denudation Regime Inferred from Sand Petrography and Chemical Composition: Cenozoic Sediments from the Guadiana Basin (SW Spain)

The Guadiana Basin is an E-W intraplate Cenozoic basin located in SW of the Iberian Peninsula, covering an area close to 6000 km2. NE-SW Alpine faults divide the basin into two subbasins: the Vegas Altas (VA) to the East, and the Vegas Bajas (VB) to the West. Sedimentary record consists of <200 m thick of sediments, arranged in two main depositional sequences, DS1 and DS2. Petrographic analysis of sediment sandy-fraction combined with geochemical analysis of <2 mm fraction permit to infer provenance and factors controlling sediment composition. Petrographic analysis of sandy-fraction reveals provenance from basin margins lithologies. In VA subbasin, quartzolithic petrofacies characterized eastern subbasin infill related to the erosion of Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic metasediments. To the West quartzofeldspathic petrofacies predominates, associated with the erosion of coarse-grained plutonites and short distance transport of their products. Intermediate petrofacies characterizes clastic deposits from the VB. Chemical analysis of clastic deposits corroborates a main felsic origin of sediments with a composition that fits well with the upper crust compositional norm and with the Neoproterozoic Iberian Average Shale (NIBAS). In addition, minor contributions from mafic sources can be identified in DS1 from VB, manifested by anomalies in the content of Co, Ni, Cr, V and Sc. Different stages of weathering (from intermediate to intense) can be deduced by the analysis of both, sandy-fraction petrography and bulk sediment geochemistry. This fact is related to the great hiatus at the base of the Cenozoicbasin infill. Transport-limited denudation regimes can be inferred by the presence of high and intermediate weathered and texturalyinmature sediments. In addition, trace element ratios suggest local enrichment in dense minerals, attributable to recycling processes from metasediments. Comparative Morpho-Biochemical Responses of Sunflower Lines Sensitive and Tolerant to Water Stress

Water stress is likely the most important factor that adversely affects plant growth and development. In our study two inbred lines of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) with contrasting behavior to water deficit, the inbred lines B59, sensitive, and B71, tolerant, were subjected to water stress and compared in terms of growth parameters, relative water content, photosynthetic pigments and osmo-compatibles contents. Mannitol treatment generated a moderate water stress which resulted in a relative water content decline in both lines. In aerial part of B59 and B71 stressed-seedlings, a dramatic reduction of osmotic potential was observed, although in B71 the osmotic potential was 1.8-fold lower than in B59. The B71 line recovered the osmotic potential to control values after 8 d of re-watering. Several morphological parameters were altered by the water stress. Shoot and root relative fresh weight decreased in both lines under water stress, although B71 showed a minor drop. However, the root was less affected than the shoot in stress condition and recovery period. Water stress was affected in a greater proportion shoot dry weight (DW) than root DW in B59 and B71 lines. Nevertheless, a significant increase in root DW/shoot DW ratio was observed in stressed seedlings. A higher reduction in the individual leaf area was observed in B71 line under stress. The basal chlorophyll content was higher in the tolerant line B71 than in the sensitive B59, and carotenoids showed a high content in B71 control and stressed seedlings. Under water stress, the aerial and root proline content increased in the tolerant B71 line. Glycinebetaine decreased significantly in the aerial part of both lines in response to water stress indicating that this compound is not the main osmo-regulator. In conclusion, B71 has suitable mechanisms to enable it to respond more effectively to moderate water stress.

Electroencephalographic coherences during emotion identification task

Coherence, a measure of spectral similarity, may estimate cortical coupling between two EEG signals as a function of frequency. The coherence between EEG signals from different brain areas depends on the structural connection and functional coupling between two regions. The theory of hemispheric specialization proposes left hemisphere activation to positive emotions and right one to negative emotions. Other proposal is that right hemisphere activation occurs with emotional stimuli. In the present study EEG coherences were calculated during the presentation of the International Affective Pictures to 36 healthy male university students. The subjects’ task was to determine the valence of the stimuli. Base line recording were done with subjects observing the blank monitor. Our results showed higher coherences during the emotional condition. No differences between negative and positive emotions were obtained. Neutral pictures evoked the highest coherence values. These data suggest that coherences between functionally coupled brain areas do not reflect emotional recognition of the valence of stimuli, but they are internal indicators of different mental processes such as memory, mental effort and arousal. Our findings do not support the theory of hemispheric specialization, neither the theory of right hemisphere;rather they suggest a complex activation pattern that involves mostly frontal areas in connection with the entire cortex.
