Caval replacement with parietal peritoneum tube graft for septic thrombophlebitis after hepatectomy: A case report

BACKGROUND Caval vein thrombosis after hepatectomy is rare, although it increases mortality and morbidity. The evolution of this thrombosis into a septic thrombophlebitis responsible for persistent septicaemia after a hepatectomy has not been reported to date in the literature. We here report the management of a 54-year-old woman operated for a peripheral cholangiocarcinoma who developed a suppurated thrombophlebitis of the vena cava following a *** SUMMARY This patient was operated by left lobectomy extended to segment V with bile duct resection and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy. After the surgery, she developed Streptococcus anginosus, Escherichia coli, and Enterococcus faecium bacteraemias, as well as Candida albicans fungemia. A computed tomography scan revealed a bilioma which was percutaneously drained. Despite adequate antibiotic therapy,the patient's condition remained septic. A diagnosis of septic thrombophlebitis of the vena cava was made on post-operative day 25. The patient was then operated again for a surgical thrombectomy and complete caval reconstruction with a parietal peritoneum tube graft. Use of the peritoneum as a vascular graft is an inexpensive technique, it is readily and rapidly available, and it allows caval replacement in a septic area. Septic thrombophlebitis of the vena cava after hepatectomy has not been described previously and it warrants being added to the spectrum of potential complications of this *** Septic thrombophlebitis of the vena cava was successfully treated with antibiotic and anticoagulation treatments, prompt surgical thrombectomy and caval reconstruction.

Mn_(3)Ag_((1-x))Cu_((x))N antiperovskite thin films with ultra-low temperature coefficient of resistance

We demonstrate the first successful attempt to partially substitute Cu into the Mn_(3)AgN-antiperovskite system to form Mn_(3)Ag_((1-x))Cu_((x))N thin films with an ultra-low temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR)for fabrication of ultra-precise passive *** were grown by reactive magnetron sputtering on alumina and glass substrates and were found to be amorphous in nature with highly negative TCR of-233 to-351 ppm/℃in their as-grown *** Cu alloying from x=0 to 1,resulted in increased sheet resistance,a negative shift of TCR and a change of grain morphology from spherical to ***-deposition heat treatment at 300-375℃,resulted in a positive shift of TCR and an ultra-low TCR of-4.66 ppm/℃for films with x=*** heat treatment induces grain growth,surface roughness and the formation of a manganese oxide upper surface layer up until temperatures of 350℃,after which surface oxidation begins to *** growth rate of the surface layer is controlled by the Cu concentration and heat treatment temperature,which both play a central role in the development of these novel ultralow TCR Mn_(3)Ag_((1-x))Cu_((x))N thin film structures.

Spinal alignment evolution with age:A prospective gait analysis study

AIM To describe,using gait analysis,the development of spinal motion in the growing *** Thirty-six healthy children aged from 3 to 16 years old were included in this study for a gait analysis(9m-walk).Various kinematic parameters were recorded and analyzed such as thoracic angle(TA),lumbar angle(LA)and sagittal vertical axis(SVA).The kinetic parameters were the net reaction moments(N.m/kg)at the thoracolumbar and lumbosacral *** TA and LA curves were not statistically correlated to the age(respectively,P=0.32 and P=0.41).SVA increased significantly with age(P<0.001).Moments in sagittal plane at the lumbosacral junction were statistically correlated to the age(P=0.003),underlining the fact that sagittal mechanical constraints at the lumbosacral junction increase with *** in transversal plane at the thoracolumbar and lumbosacral junctions were statistically correlated to the age(P=0.0002and P=0.0006),revealing that transversal mechanical constraints decrease with *** The kinetic analysis showed that during growth,a decrease of torsional constraint occurs while an increase of sagittal constraint is *** changes in spine biomechanics are related to the crucial role of the trunk for bipedalism acquisition,allowing stabilization despite lower limbs *** the acquisition of mature gait,the spine will mainly undergo constraints in the sagittal plane.

Initially, an overwhelming hyperinflammatory reaction ensues, resulting in tissue damage and organ dysfunction.

A uniqueness lemma with applications to regularization and incompressible fluid mechanics

In this paper,we extend our previous result from Lévy(2016).We prove that transport equations with rough coefficients do possess a uniqueness property,even in the presence of *** method relies strongly on duality and bears a strong resemblance to the well-known DiPerna-Lions theory first developed by DiPerna and Lions(1989).This uniqueness result allows us to reprove the celebrated theorem of Serrin(1962)in a novel *** a byproduct of the techniques,we derive an L^(1) bound for the vorticity in terms of a critical Lebesgue norm of the velocity *** also show that the zero solution is unique for the 2D Euler equations on the torus under a mild integrability assumption.

Annoying neighbors： Multi-scale distribution determinants of two sympatric sibling species of birds

We tested the role of interspecific competition in driving species distribution at multiple spatial scales using two sibl- ing species of Galerida larks （G cristata and G. theklae） in Morocco （sympatry）, Balearic islands （G theklae only） and Israel （G cristata only）. We first investigated regional-scale determinants by contrasting allopatric versus sympatric patterns in five distinct habitat types. We next focused on a single habitat used by both species, the coastal sand dunes. Dune quadrats were established along the Moroccan coast and completed by a quadrat in the nearest distinct landscape habitat. Poisson regressions were used to model Galerida counts together with ecological predictors as concerns the climate, topography, vegetation structure and soil gra- nulometry. At the local scale, both species preferred grey dunes over white sand dunes, and both were negatively affected by the abundance of the congeneric species in the dune. However, we found that G theklae tended to replace G. cristata in more arid sand dunes, even if the transition was not strictly clinal. Instead, the transition occurred when the surrounding landscape changed from coastal wetlands to bathas （grasslands with shrubs）, highlighting the importance of habitat composition at the landscape scale. The fact that G cristata used bathas in allopatry, but not in sympatry, suggested that the competitive environment contri- buted to determine sand dune occupancy. We suggest that landscape-level effects may be pivotal in explaining species distribu- tion not only at the local scale, by affecting the pool of potential immigrants, but also at the regional scale, by contributing to species＇ range limit [Current Zoology 61 （1）： 10-22, 2015].
