The measurement of boreholes with diameters smaller than 500 μm is a demanding task that cannot be performed using state-of-the-art production metrology. In this letter, a miniaturized fiber probe with a diameter of 80μm is presented. A probe is used for low-coherence interferometry to conduct highly precise measurements of form deviations of small boreholes. Measurements conducted in nozzles are also presented. The results prove the potential of the fiber-optical sensor for quality inspection of high-precision parts, such as injection nozzles, for common-rail diesel engines.

Success in speed swimming depends on the efficiency of the anaerobic system for the production of cellular energy,especially during muscle power *** the adolescent athletes much is unknown with regards to the relationships between relative power of upper and lower limbs with speed swimming *** aim the present study was to identify differences in relative muscle power of upper and lower limbs in adolescent swimmers and relate these to speed swimming *** adolescents,of both sexes(50%female,50%male,30 swimmers and 30 controls),were *** relative upper limb power(ULP[W/kg])was assessed by a medicine ball test and the relative lower limbs power(LLP[W/kg])by a jump test on a jumping *** mass of the upper and lower limbs was assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA)(g).Sport performance was assessed during national level competition(50-m swimming time[in seconds]).Biological maturation(BM)was indexed by years from attainment of peak height ***(W/kg)was higher than LLP(W/kg)in both groups(p<0.05).Upper and lower limb lean mass(g)correlated significantly with ULP(W/kg)and LLP(W/kg)in both groups(p<0.05).ULP(W/kg)and LLP(W/kg)correlated with 50-m swimming performance(s),in both sexes(p<0.05).Advanced BM was associated with ULP(W/kg)and LLP(W/kg)in both groups(p<0.05),and with 50-m swimming performance(s)in both sexes(p<0.05).We concluded that ULP(W/kg)is higher than LLP(W/kg)in adolescent *** and lower limb lean mass and BM were both positively associated with increased ULP(W/kg)and LLP(W/kg).

Greenstone belts contain several clues about the evolutionary history of primitive ***,we describe the volcano-sedimentary rock association exposed along the eastern margin of the Gavião Block,named the Northern Mundo Novo Greenstone Belt(N-MNGB),and present data collected with different techniques,including U–Pb–Hf–O isotopes of zircon and multiple sulfur isotopes(^(32)S,^(33)S,^(34)S,and ^(36)S)of pyrite from this supracrustal sequence.A pillowed metabasalt situated in the upper section of the N-MNGB is 3337±25 Ma old and has zircon with ε_(Hf)(t)=2.47 to1.40,Hf model ages between 3.75 Ga and 3.82 Ga,and δ^(18)O=+3.6‰to+7.3‰.These isotopic data,together with compiled whole-rock trace element data,suggest that the mafic metavolcanic rocks formed in a subduction-related setting,likely a back-arc basin juxtaposed to a continental *** this context,the magma interacted with older Eoarchean crustal components from the Gavião *** zircons from the overlying quartzites of the Jacobina Group are sourced from Paleoarchean rocks,in accordance with previous studies,yielding a maximum depositional age of 3353±22 *** detrital zircons have ε_(Hf)(t)=5.40 to0.84,Hf model ages between 3.66 Ga and 4.30 Ga,and δ^(18)O=+4.8‰to+6.4‰.The pyrite multiple sulfur isotope investigation of the 3.3 Ga supracrustal rocks from the N-MNGB enabled a further understanding of Paleoarchean sulfur *** samples have diverse isotopic compositions that indicate sulfur sourced from distinct ***,they preserve the signal of the anoxic Archean atmosphere,expressed by MIF-S signatures(Δ^(33)S between1.3‰to+1.4‰)and a Δ^(36)S/Δ^(33)S slope of0.81 that is indistinguishable from the so-called Archean array.A BIF sample has a magmatic origin of sulfur,as indicated by the limited Δ^(34)S range(0 to+2‰),Δ^(33)S~0‰,and Δ^(36)S~0‰.A carbonaceous schist shows positive Δ^(34)S(2.1‰–3.5‰)and elevated Δ^(33)S(1.2‰–1.4‰)values,with corresponding negative Δ^(36)S

Impact of Association between Functional Training and Respiratory Muscle Training in Elderly: A Randomized Controlled Trial

The elderly population in Brazil has been growing exponentially according to data presented by the IBGE. It is estimated that by 2025 the population will have reached 32 million, placing the country sixth in the world in the population of elderly people. To assess the results of respiratory training associated with functional training on respiratory muscle strength, lung function, and functionality of the elderly. The sample was composed of 40 elderlies, divided into four groups, the experimental group with functional training, one experimental group with functional training associated with respiratory training, one experimental group with respiratory training, and the fourth group, the control group. After the initial and final evaluations, the variables measured were: The Breathing Test, Sit to Stand Test, the SF-36 Quality of Life Questionnaire, and Spirometry. Twenty appointments were conducted twice a week. There were significant differences for variables maximum inspiratory and expiratory pressure;more accentuated in the associated group when compared to the respiratory group;forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume in the first second/forced vital capacity were meaningful in the associated group;peak expiratory flow means values increased after the intervention;in the six-minute walk test, we noticed a trend to increase values after the intervention. Functional training as well as associated respiratory muscle training provide the most beneficial changes compared only to functional and respiratory training. Therefore, this may be an effective clinical training method for patients’ elderly.

Increasing continental suspended sediment influx to coral reefs is an example of land-sea coupling that requires the identification of sources,magnitude of transport,and controlling *** Brazil,a small coastal basin(Macae River) was identified as a source of suspended sediment to a coral reef on the coast of Cape Armacao dos *** suspended sediment loads were measured at the basin as were fluxes within the estuary and towards the coast during eight tidal *** load and yield from this basin were typical of small coastal basins,showing high to moderate slopes and transitional land ***,the magnitude of the river loads was lower than the sediment transport within the estuary,indicating that the estuary amplifies river fluxes and sustains the transference of suspended sediment alongshore to the coral ***,the estuary displays both suspended particle retention and export capacity and,therefore,fluxes to the coast and the coral reef occur as episodic events.

The aims of this study were:i)to compare no-till areas in two municipalities located in different regions of Brazil,along with the influence on CO_(2)Flux and GPP,and ii)to verify the difference between environmental factors followed by the trends of these variables regarding future scenarios(ARIMA time-series model number).The study was carried out in two areas with different latitudes in the municipalities of Sinop-MT and Passo Fundo-RS,both in Brazil.A time series of 19 years was performed with data acquired by remote sensing from the following satellites:i)Landsat-8(OLI and TIRS),and ii)TERRA/AQUA(MODIS).The results propound that the spectro-temporal variables are directly influenced by soil management and agricultural practices over the observation time,with a satisfactory correlation in future predictions of the variables for the next ten years,in which presented that the variation of GPP and albedo values for the two study sites would gradually increase until 2028 and the temperature remained constant between the range of its seasonality,and CO_(2)Flux tends to decrease in its seasonality,indicating a higher CO_(2) absorption.

We present major and trace element compositions of mineral concentrates comprising garnet xenocrysts,ilmenite,phlogopite,spinel,zircon,and uncommon minerals(titanite,calzirtite,anatase,baddeleyite and pyrochlore)of a newly discovered Late Cretaceous kimberlite(U-Pb zircon age 90.0±1.3 Ma;2σ)named Osvaldo Franca 1,located in the Alto Paranaíba Igneous Province(APIP),southeastern *** grains are lherzolitic(Lherz-1,Lherz-2 and Lherz-3),harzburgitic(Harz-3)and wehrlitic(Wehr-2).The pyrope xenocrysts cover a wide mantle column in the subcratonic lithosphere(66–143 km;20–43 kbar)at relatively low temperatures(811–875°C).The shallowest part of this mantle is represented by Lherz-1 pyropes(20–32 kbar),which have low-Cr(Cr_(2)O_(3)=1.74–6.89 wt.%)and fractionated middle to heavy rare earth elements(MREE-HREE)*** deepest samples are represented by Lherz-2,Lherz-3,Harz-3,and Wehr-2 pyropes(36–43 kbar).They contain high-Cr contents(Cr_(2)O_(3)=7.36–11.19 wt.%)and are characterized by sinusoidal(Lherz-2 and Wehr-2)and spoon-like(Lherz-3 and Harz-3)REE *** to their REE and trace elements,pyrope xenocrysts have enriched nature(e.g.,Ce and Yb ***_(2)O_(3)),indicating that the cratonic lithosphere has been affected by a silicate melt with subalkaline/tholeiite composition due to their low Zr,Ti and Y *** minerals with typical kimberlitic signatures,such as ilmenite and zircon,the exotic compositions of phlogopite and ulvöspinel suggest an enriched component in the magma *** formation of rare mineral phases with strong enrichment of light-REE(LREE)and high field strength elements(HFSE)is attributed to the late-stage kimberlitic *** propose a tectonic model where a thermal anomaly,represented by the low-velocity seismic anomaly observed in P-wave seismic tomography images,supplied heat to activate the alkaline magmatism from a metasomatized cratonic mantle source during the late-stages of Gondwana fragmentation and conse

Purpose: To investigate the prognostic impacts of a combined clopidogrel-metabolizing genotypes CYP 2C19 (+ or -)*2/(+ or -)*17 on patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Population and methods: Prospective, longitudinal study of 95 patients admitted for ACS to a single coronary care unit. Patients less than 75 years of age, who survived hospitalization and to whom clopidogrel was prescribed, were included. CYP2C19 genotyping was performed at dis- charge. For analysis, the patients were grouped as follows: Group A ([+]*2/[+]*17) n = 8;Group B ([+]*2/[-]*17) n = 18;Group C ([-]*2/[+]*17) n = 27;and Group D ([-]*2/[-]*17) n = 42. Platelet function was assessed by an ADP platelet aggregation test using a commercially available kit. The primary end-point was a composite of mortality or readmission for ACS. The median time of follow-up was 136.0 (79.0 - 188.0) days. Results: The mean age of the study patients was 59.9 ± 10.7 years, and 83.2% were male. The allele frequencies of CYP2C19*2 and CYP2C19 *17 were 14.2% and 20%, respectively. Both allele frequencies were in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. The patient groups were homogenous for demographic data, cardiovascular risk factors, GRACE and CRUSADE bleeding scores, left ventricular ejection fraction, and coronary anatomy. ADP platelet aggre-gation was similar for all groups (respective rates for groups A, B, C, D were 17.5 U (10.3 – 18.7) vs 20.0 U (17.3 – 26.8) vs 16 U (12 – 19) vs 12 U (8 – 22), p = 0.4). Event-free survival was significantly lower for group B (respective rates for Groups A, B, C, D were 87.5% vs 68.8% vs 96.3% vs 92.5%;p = 0.02). By multivariate Cox regression analysis, the CYP2C19 (+)*2/(-)*17 diplotype was an independent predictor of outcome, conferring a 5.2-fold higher adjusted risk for the composite endpoint than the others diplotypes.
