Success in speed swimming depends on the efficiency of the anaerobic system for the production of cellular energy,especially during muscle power *** the adolescent athletes much is unknown with regards to the relationships between relative power of upper and lower limbs with speed swimming *** aim the present study was to identify differences in relative muscle power of upper and lower limbs in adolescent swimmers and relate these to speed swimming *** adolescents,of both sexes(50%female,50%male,30 swimmers and 30 controls),were *** relative upper limb power(ULP[W/kg])was assessed by a medicine ball test and the relative lower limbs power(LLP[W/kg])by a jump test on a jumping *** mass of the upper and lower limbs was assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA)(g).Sport performance was assessed during national level competition(50-m swimming time[in seconds]).biological maturation(bM)was indexed by years from attainment of peak height ***(W/kg)was higher than LLP(W/kg)in both groups(pb lean mass(g)correlated significantly with ULP(W/kg)and LLP(W/kg)in both groups(pboth sexes(pbM was associated with ULP(W/kg)and LLP(W/kg)in both groups(pboth sexes(pb lean mass and bM were both positively associated with increased ULP(W/kg)and LLP(W/kg).

Tectona grandis L.f. （teak） is native to the Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia, and today is grown in almost every tropical region, for the physical and mechanical properties of its wood. Also, important qualitative aspects render it one of the most expensive wood species in the world. This work presents a study about the physical properties and heat transfer of T. grandis wood from plantations in ***, Mato Grosso, brazil. Six trees planted at three different intervals were used--two from each planting density--selected at random and with good phytosanitary characteristics, as well as having representative diameters and heights. The following properties were determined： basic and apparent densities, volume contraction, heat transfer and fiber saturation point. The basic and apparent mean general density of the samples was 0.48 g/cm3 and 0.55 g/cm3, respectively. The mean volume contraction of the teak wood was 8.57%. With decreased levels of wood humidity, loss of volume and planting effects were not significant at 5% probability. Mean heat transfer was 7.3 h/cm and the wood fiber saturation point was 17.25%, below the range found in literature, and there was no influence of the planting density on this property. According to the results, it was concluded that planting density significantly influenced the base density of the wood; the same effect does not occur for the other physical properties, and with respect to heat transfer, the wood was considered difficult to dry.

Purpose: To investigate the prognostic impacts of a combined clopidogrel-metabolizing genotypes CYP 2C19 (+ or -)*2/(+ or -)*17 on patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Population and methods: Prospective, longitudinal study of 95 patients admitted for ACS to a single coronary care unit. Patients less than 75 years of age, who survived hospitalization and to whom clopidogrel was prescribed, were included. CYP2C19 genotyping was performed at dis- charge. For analysis, the patients were grouped as follows: Group A ([+]*2/[+]*17) n = 8;Group b ([+]*2/[-]*17) n = 18;Group C ([-]*2/[+]*17) n = 27;and Group D ([-]*2/[-]*17) n = 42. Platelet function was assessed by an ADP platelet aggregation test using a commercially available kit. The primary end-point was a composite of mortality or readmission for ACS. The median time of follow-up was 136.0 (79.0 - 188.0) days. Results: The mean age of the study patients was 59.9 ± 10.7 years, and 83.2% were male. The allele frequencies of CYP2C19*2 and CYP2C19 *17 were 14.2% and 20%, respectively. both allele frequencies were in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. The patient groups were homogenous for demographic data, cardiovascular risk factors, GRACE and CRUSADE bleeding scores, left ventricular ejection fraction, and coronary anatomy. ADP platelet aggre-gation was similar for all groups (respective rates for groups A, b, C, D were 17.5 U (10.3 – 18.7) vs 20.0 U (17.3 – 26.8) vs 16 U (12 – 19) vs 12 U (8 – 22), p = 0.4). Event-free survival was significantly lower for group b (respective rates for Groups A, b, C, D were 87.5% vs 68.8% vs 96.3% vs 92.5%;p = 0.02). by multivariate Cox regression analysis, the CYP2C19 (+)*2/(-)*17 diplotype was an independent predictor of outcome, conferring a 5.2-fold higher adjusted risk for the composite endpoint than the others diplotypes. background:The metabolic syndrome is a consequence of modern lifestyle that causes synaptic insulin resistance and cognitive deficits and that in interaction with a high amyloid load is an important risk factor for Alzheimer’s *** has been proposed that neuroinflammation might be an intervening variable,but the underlying mechanisms are currently ***:We utilized primary neurons to induce synaptic insulin resistance as well as a mouse model of high-risk aging that includes a high amyloid load,neuroinflammation,and diet-induced obesity to test hypotheses on underly-ing ***:We found that neddylation and subsequent activation of cullin-RING ligase complexes induced synaptic insulin resistance through ubiquitylation and degradation of the insulin-receptor substrate IRS1 that organizes synap-tic insulin ***,inhibition of neddylation preserved synaptic insulin signaling and rescued memory deficits in mice with a high amyloid load,which were fed with a’western diet’.Conclusions:Collectively,the data suggest that neddylation and degradation of the insulin-receptor substrate is a nodal point that links high amyloid load,neuroinflammation,and synaptic insulin resistance to cognitive decline and impaired synaptic plasticity in high-risk aging.

AIM： To analyze the modulation of gene expression profile associated with inhibition of liver regeneration in hepatitis b X （Hbx）-expressing transgenic mice. METHODS： Microarray technology was performed on liver tissue obtained from 4 control （LacZ） and 4 transgenic mice （Hbx-LacZ）, 48 h after partial hepatectomy. The significance of the normalized logratios was assessed for each gene, using robust t-tests under an empirical bayes approach. Microarray hybridization data was verified on selected genes by quantitative PCR. RESULTS： The comparison of gene expression patterns showed a consistent modulation of the expression of 26 genes, most of which are implicated in liver regeneration. Up-regulated genes included DNA repair proteins （Rad-52, MSH6） and transmembrane proteins （syndecan 4, tetraspanin）, while down-regulated genes were connected to the regulation of transcription （histone deacetylase, Zfp90, MyoDl） and were involved in the cholesterol metabolic pathway and isoprenoidbiosynthesis （farnesyl diphosphate synthase, Cyp7b1, geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase, SAA3）. background:Leishmaniasis causes alterations and lesions in the genital system,which leads to azoospermia and testicular atrophy in animals during the chronic phase of the *** aim of this study was to reveal the kinetics of Leishmania chagasi infection in the genital system of male golden hamsters(Mesocricetus auratus).Methods:Animals were intraperitoneally inoculated with amastigotes from *** different time points animals were euthanized and genital organs processed for histo-pathological,qPCR,cytokines and testosterone detection ***:Our results showed a high parasite load in testis,followed by an increase of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL1-β,TNF-αand IFN-γ,and ***,IL-4 expression was upregulated and basal parasite persistence in testis was observed using the experimental ***:Extracellular amastigotes migrated to the epididymis posing as a potential major factor of parasite persistence and venereal transmission of *** infection in hamsters.

This paper highlighted the losses occurring along the wheat supply chain in Rio Grande do Sul （RS）, brazil, which accounts for almost half of the domestic wheat production. based on a field research, a questionnaire was applied to representative agents in the market. Then the wheat supply chain in the state of RS was characterized and loss rates in each stage of that chain were quantified. Typically, losses during transportation in the domestic market account for about 11.8% of the total amount of wheat grain that leaves the farms. Losses during harvest and storage in cooperatives, which account for 93.2% of total losses, stand out in this context. Transportation operations account for 6.8% of total losses in the analyzed flow. based on the results obtained in this study, strategies are suggested to reduce food losses in different links of the logistics chain, such as to evidence and quantify the wheat losses, to manage losses and set reduction targets and to give attention to transportation service levels.

The purpose of this study was to verify the efficiency of methods of pre-conditioning and concentrations of tetrazolium solution in the evaluation of physiological quality of Stizolobium aterrimum seeds. Commercial seeds have passed through the process of accelerated aging for composing lots of 0, 24, 48, 96 and 144 hours, and were submitted to the pre-conditioning: 1) Scarification with sandpaper number 100 and immersion in water at room temperature for 18 hours, 2) Immersion in water at 95°C and maintained in the same water outside the heating at 25°C for 18 hours. After preconditioning, the seed coats were removed and immersed in embryos tetrazolium salt at 0.25%, 0.5% and 1% for 150 minutes and maintained in the dark at 25°C for color development. To compare the results obtained in the tetrazolium test, we performed germination test, first counting and germination speed index. The method of scarification with sandpaper and later soaked in water for 18 hours at 25°C, the most efficient way in preconditioning of seeds of Stizolobium aterrimum and concentration of 1.0% tetrazolium solution for 150 minutes at 25°C, allows evaluating the quality of seed lots from this species.
