Modeling the Black Hole Recoil from the Nucleus of M83

GEMiNi + GMOS and Chandra emission-line spectroscopy reveal that the Fanaroff-Riley ii radio-source J133658.3-295105 is a local object behind the barred-spiral galaxy M83 that is projected onto the galaxy’s disk at about 60' from the galaxy’s optical nucleus. J133658.3-295105 and its radiolobes are aligned with the optical nucleus of M83 and two other radio-sources neither of which are supernova remnants or Hii regions. The optical nucleus of M83 is off-centered by 2.7' (≈60 pc) with regard to the kinematic center. its mass is within the range (1 -4) × 106 and the velocity dispersion at its center points to a non-resolved mass concentration of ≤106 . in this paper we study the circumstances in which the radio source would have been ejected from the central region of M83. We analyze different types of collisions of binary and triple systems of super-massive black holes (SMBHs) by numerical simulations using a Post-Newtonian approximation of order 7/2 (~1/c7). We developed an N-body code specially built to numerically integrate the Post-Newtonian equations of motion with a symplectic method. Numerical experiments show that the code is robust enough to handle virtually any mass ratio between particles and to follow the interaction up to a SMBH separation of three Schwarzschild radii. We show that within the current Post-Newtonian approximation, a scenario in which one of the three SMBHs suffers a slingshot-like kick is best suited to explain the ejection of J133658.3-295105, which simultaneously produces the recoil of the remaining BH pair, which drags together a subset of stars from the original cluster forming a structure that mimics the off-center optical nucleus of M83. The simulation parameters are tuned to reproduce the velocities and positions of J133658.3-295105 as well as the optical nucleus and the putative SMBH at its center.

Composite with Recyclable Loads for the Manufacture of Blocks to Build Popular Houses

The science space in a state school in Natal city was built using a composite consisting of gypsum, EPS （expanded polystyrene）, shredded tire, cement and water. Mechanical and thermal resistances were evaluated. inside the blocks, three types of fillings （EPS plates, aluminum cans and 500 mL bottles of mineral water） were placed in order to obtain a walls with higher thermal resistance, but also to give it an ecologically correct order, considering that both the tire and the EPS occupy a large space in landfills and require years to be degraded when released into the environment. Compression tests were conducted according to the rules. The experiments demonstrated that the temperature difference between the internal and external surfaces on the walls reached levels above 12.0 ℃. it was also demonstrated that the proposed composite has adequate mechanical strength to be used for sealing walls. The proposed use of the composite can contribute to reduce the significant housing deficit of Brazil, producing popular houses at low cost and with little time to work.

Background:The metabolic syndrome is a consequence of modern lifestyle that causes synaptic insulin resistance and cognitive deficits and that in interaction with a high amyloid load is an important risk factor for Alzheimer’s *** has been proposed that neuroinflammation might be an intervening variable,but the underlying mechanisms are currently ***:We utilized primary neurons to induce synaptic insulin resistance as well as a mouse model of high-risk aging that includes a high amyloid load,neuroinflammation,and diet-induced obesity to test hypotheses on underly-ing ***:We found that neddylation and subsequent activation of cullin-RiNG ligase complexes induced synaptic insulin resistance through ubiquitylation and degradation of the insulin-receptor substrate iRS1 that organizes synap-tic insulin ***,inhibition of neddylation preserved synaptic insulin signaling and rescued memory deficits in mice with a high amyloid load,which were fed with a’western diet’.Conclusions:Collectively,the data suggest that neddylation and degradation of the insulin-receptor substrate is a nodal point that links high amyloid load,neuroinflammation,and synaptic insulin resistance to cognitive decline and impaired synaptic plasticity in high-risk aging.

Zika Virus during the COViD-19 Pandemic: Epidemiological Parameters and Advances in Understanding the infection

The COViD-19 pandemic has changed the focus of authorities and health organizations with respect to other infectious diseases. This review aims to examine the changes in global epidemiological parameters related to Zika virus during the COViD-19 pandemic and the progress made since 2020 in various aspects of infection. A narrative review was conducted, focusing on articles published between January 2020 and June 2023, covering epidemiology, pathogenicity, transmission, diagnosis, and treatment of Zika virus. The findings of this survey reveal that there has been a significant decrease in reported cases of Zika virus infection during the COViD-19 pandemic, however, advancements have been made in understanding the pathogenicity of the virus and the development of new diagnostic methods, vaccines, and treatments. The lessons learned from the response to COViD-19 have played a pivotal role in guiding efforts that have resulted in progress regarding various aspects related to Zika virus infection.

Stiffness Evaluation of the Welded Connection between Guide Thimbles and the Spacer Grids for 16 × 16 Fuel Assemblies Types, Using the Finite Element Method

The present work aims to evaluate the increase in the number of spot welds in the 16 × 16 type fuel assembly structure that connects guide thimbles and spacer grids, in order to provide a proper joint for this connection. This new and improved process can provide more stiffness to the whole structure, since the number of spots raised from four to eight. A 3-D geometric model of a guide thimble section was generated in a CAD （computer aided design） program （SolidWorks）. After that, the geometric model was imported to a CAE （computer aided engineering） program （ANSYS Mechanical APDL, Release 14.0）, where the finite element model was built, considering the guide thimble geometry assembled with the spacer grid through the welded connections. Boundaries conditions were implemented in the model in order to simulate the correct physical behavior due to the operation of the fuel assembly inside the reactor. The analysis covered specific loads and displacements acting on the entire structure. The method used to solve this finite element analysis was a linear static simulation in order to perform the connection between a spacer grid cell and a guide thimble section. Hence, four models was evaluated, differing on the spot weld number in the spacer grid and guide thimble connection. The rotational stiffness results of each model were compared. The results acquired from four and eight spot weld were validated with physical test results. The behavior of the structure under the acting force/displacement and the related results of the analysis, mainly the stiffness, were satisfied. The results of this analysis were used to prove that the increasing spot welds number is an improvement in the dimensional stability when submitted to loads and displacements required on the fuel assembly design. This analysis aid to get more information of extreme importance such as, the pursuance to develop better manufacturing process and to improve the fuel assembly performance due to the increasing

Three-Phase Optimal Power Flow for Study of PV Plant Distributed impact on Distribution Systems

This paper presents a TOPF （three-phase optimal power flow） model that represents photovoltaic systems. The PV plant is modeled in the TOPF as active and reactive power source. Reactive power can be generated or absorbed using the available capacity and the adjustable power factor of the inverter. The reduction of unbalance voltage and losses in the distribution systems is obtained by actions of reactive power control of the inverter. The TOPF is formulated by current balance equations and the PV systems are modeled via an equivalent circuit. The primal-dual interior point method is used to obtain the optimal operating points for the systems for different scenarios of solar irradiance and temperature, thus providing a detailed view of the impact of photovoltaic distributed generation.

Endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection in the treatment of sporadic nonampullary duodenal adenomatous polyps

Although uncommon, sporadic nonampullary duodenal adenomas have a growing detection due to the widespread of endoscopy. Endoscopic therapy is being increasingly used for these lesions, since surgery, considered the standard treatment, carries significant morbidity and mortality. However, the knowledge about its risks and benefits is limited, which contributes to the current absence of standardized recommendations. This review aims to discuss the efficacy and safety of endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) in the treatment of these lesions. A literature review was performed, using the Pubmed database with the query: "(duodenum or duodenal)(endoscopy or endoscopic) adenoma resection", in the human species and in English. Of the 189 retrieved articles, and after reading their abstracts, 19 were selected due to their scientific interest. The analysis of their references, led to the inclusion of 23 more articles for their relevance in this subject. The increased use of EMR in the duodenum has shown good results with complete resection rates exceeding 80% and low complication risk(delayed bleeding in less than 12% of the procedures). Although rarely used in the duodenum, ESD achieves close to 100% complete resection rates, but is associated with perforation and bleeding risk in up to one third of the cases. Even though literature is insufficient to draw definitive conclusions, studies suggest that EMR and ESD are valid options for the treatment of nonampullary adenomas. Thus, strategies to improve these techniques, and consequently increase the effectiveness and safety of the resection of these lesions, should be developed.

为了明确鄂尔多斯盆地南部三叠系延长组长7油层组细粒沉积特征及沉积模式,以衣食村、瑶曲等典型野外剖面为研究对象,在野外踏勘和测量的基础上,分析其岩相及岩相组合特征,探讨沉积相类型及特征,并建立了细粒沉积中不同岩相的演化模式。结果表明:铜川地区延长组中下部野外露头主要发育叠覆冲刷正粒序粉砂—细砂岩相、块状层理粉砂—细砂岩相、软沉积变形砂泥混杂岩相、块状泥岩相、水平纹层泥页岩相、凝灰岩相共6种岩相类型。铜川地区长7油层组发育背景泥质沉积、凝灰岩与重力流沉积的垂向组合、滑动滑塌与背景泥岩互层叠置、重力流沉积砂岩、泥岩垂向叠置。衣食村剖面下部长73亚油层组以块状层理碎屑流沉积和滑塌沉积为主;长72亚油层组以深水原地沉积为主,岩性从粉砂岩—粉砂质泥岩过渡到水平纹层泥岩再到页理极其发育的黑色页岩;瑶曲剖面长71亚油层组发育丰富的软沉积变形构造,如液化砂岩脉、块状砂岩内具有泥质条带以及火焰状构造等。研究区延长组长73亚油层组沉积期,主要为三角洲前缘沉积物垮塌再搬运形成的相对厚层滑动滑塌沉积;长72亚油层组沉积期以深水页岩沉积为主,夹杂火山灰和少量的低密度浊流薄层粉砂岩沉积;至长71亚油层组沉积期,部分三角洲垮塌再搬运形成砂质碎屑流沉积和低密度浊流沉积;整体指示了长7油层组沉积时期湖平面先升高后降低的周期性变化特征。湖平面的升降变化控制了细粒沉积物的搬运方式与沉积模式,该研究对于明确细粒沉积物的搬运机制与分布规律具有重要的指导意义。
