Background Sterol regulatory element binding protein （SREBP）-2 plays a key role in lipid homeostasis by stimulating gene expression of cholesterol biosynthetic pathways. The insulin-like growth factor binding protein （IGFBP） family regulates growth and metabolism, especially bone cell metabolism, and correlates with osteonecrosis. However, association of their gene polymorphisms with risk of avascular necrosis of the femoral head （ANFH） has rarely been reported. We determined whether SREBP-2 and IGFBP-3 gene polymorphisms were associated with increased ANFH risk in the Chinese population. Methods Two single nucleotide polymorphisms of SREBP2 gene, rs2267439 and rs2267443, and one of IGFBP-3 gene, rs2453839, were selected and genotyped in 49 ANFH patients and 42 control individuals by direct sequencing assay. Results The frequencies of rs2267439 TT and rs2267443 GA of SREBP2 and rs2453839 TT and CT of IGFBP-3 in the ANFH group showed increased and decreased tendencies （against normal control group）, respectively. Interaction analysis of genes revealed that the frequency of carrying rs2267439 TT and rs2267443 GA genotypes of SREBF-2 in ANFH patients was significantly higher than in the control group （P 〈0.05）. Association analysis between polymorphisms and clinical phenotype demonstrated that the disease course in ANFH patients with the rs2453839 TT genotype of IGFBP-3 was significantly shorter than that of CT＋CC carriers （P 〈0.01）. CT＋CC genotype frequency in patients with stage Ill/IV bilateral hip lesions was significantly higher than in those with stage Ill/IV unilateral lesions and stage II/111 bilateral lesions （P 〈0.05-0.02）. Conclusions Our results suggested that interaction of SREBP-2 gene polymorphisms and the relationship between the polymorphisms and clinical phenotype of IGFBP-3 were closely related to increased ANFH risk in the Chinese population. We present an exercise that intends to establish a relationship between the strength of nebular emission lines and optical stellar features in the spectrum of a galaxy. After accurately subtracting the stellar continuum and the underlying stellar absorption, we made reliable measurements of the emission lines of all the galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 2 (SDSS DR2). More than 4000 star-forming galaxies with high S/N ratio of both the stellar spectrum and the emission lines are selected. These galaxy spectra are fitted with the 10 PCs of Yip et al., after all the emission line regions have been filtered out. We find that the flux of hydrogen Balmer emission lines, Ha and Hβcan be well recovered from the PCs, while the metal lines are not well reproduced. The fluxes of Ha and Hβmeasured from the PC-reconstructed spectra and from the observed spectra agree well with an rms scatter of only - 0.1 dex. Objective To observe the curative effect of electro-acupuncture plus Tuina on prostatic *** Fifty-six cases of prostatic hypertrophy were treated according to the principle of taking the kidney as the main aspect. Points Guanyuan (CV 4), Qugu ( CV2), Shenshu(BL 23), Ciliao(BL32) and Sanyinjiao( SP6) were selected and electro-acupuncture were used together with Tuina. Those who took the tablet Finasteride orally were treated as the control group. Result The total effective rate was 94.6% in treating group, while that was 86.7% in the control group, P＞0.05. Conclusion It is suggested that electro-acupuncture plus Tuina has a certain effect on prostatic hypertrophy. Compared with western medicine, it is lower in price and has no side effect.

Vanadium-based electrode materials are widely investigated,but the low specific capacity and slow electrochemical kinetics in aqueous zinc-ion batteries still limit their commercial ***,the VS2/Ca V4O9material with the morphology of nanoflower was synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal *** to the blocky structure of pure VS2material,the VS2/Ca V4O9material is composed of thinner homogeneous *** open structures could provide abundant electrochemical active sites and ion transport channels,and then promote the electrochemical reaction *** addition,they can also buffer the bulk strain during the reaction *** improve the utilization of vanadium elements,an in-situ electrochemical activation strategy is used to explore the storage performance of the VS2/Ca V4O9material,the different activation voltage range of 0.4–1.6 and 0.4–1.4 V are selected,*** with the longer activation plateau of activated-VS2,the VS2/Ca V4O9cathode could quickly reach the activation state in the range of 1.4–1.6 V and cause the release of additional Zn storage sites *** VS2/Ca V4O9cathode delivers a higher power density of 37,000 W kg-1and a significant energy density of 423 Wh *** the high current density of 15 A g-1,the VS2/Ca V4O9cathode still has a discharge capacity of 183.9m Ah g-1after 5,000 cycles,and the capacity decay rate per cycle is only 0.0042%.Continuous cyclic voltammetry （CV） curves,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） measurements,density functional theory （DFT） calculation and galvanostatic intermittent titration technique （GITT） measurements demonstrate that the VS2/Ca V4O9cathode has a faster ion diffusion/charge transfer ***,the assembled flexible device has an excellent mechanical stability.

Sinter is the core raw material for blast *** pressure,which is an important state parameter,affects sinter *** this paper,flue pressure prediction and optimization were studied based on the shapley additive explanation(SHAP)to predict the flue pressure and take targeted adjustment ***,the sintering process data were collected and processed.A flue pressure prediction model was then constructed after comparing different feature selection methods and model algorithms using SHAP+extremely random-ized trees(ET).The prediction accuracy of the model within the error range of±0.25 kPa was 92.63%.SHAP analysis was employed to improve the interpretability of the prediction *** effects of various sintering operation parameters on flue pressure,the relation-ship between the numerical range of key operation parameters and flue pressure,the effect of operation parameter combinations on flue pressure,and the prediction process of the flue pressure prediction model on a single sample were analyzed.A flue pressure optimization module was also constructed and analyzed when the prediction satisfied the judgment *** operating parameter combination was then *** flue pressure was increased by 5.87%during the verification process,achieving a good optimization effect.

Thalidomide inducesγ-globin expression in erythroid progenitor cells,but its efficacy on patients with transfusion-dependentβ-thalassemia(TDT)remains *** this phase 2,multi-center,randomized,double-blind clinical trial,we aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of thalidomide in TDT patients.A hundred patients of 14 years or older were randomly assigned to receive placebo or thalidomide for 12 weeks,followed by an extension phase of at least 36 *** primary endpoint was the change of hemoglobin(Hb)level in the *** secondary endpoints included the red blood cell(RBC)units transfused and adverse *** the placebo-controlled period,Hb concentrations in patients treated with thalidomide achieved a median elevation of 14.0(range,2.5 to 37.5)g/L,whereas Hb in patients treated with placebo did not significantly *** the 12 weeks,the mean RBC transfusion volume for patients treated with thalidomide and placebo was 5.4±5.0 U and 10.3±6.4 U,respectively(P<0.001).Adverse events of drowsiness,dizziness,fatigue,pyrexia,sore throat,and rash were more common with thalidomide than *** the extension phase,treatment with thalidomide for 24 weeks resulted in a sustainable increase in Hb concentrations which reached 104.9±19.0 g/L,without blood *** increase in Hb concentration and reduction in RBC transfusions were associated with nonβ0/β0 and HBS1L-MYB(rs9399137 C/T,C/C;rs4895441 A/G,G/G)*** results demonstrated that thalidomide is effective in patients with TDT.

Direct in vivo conversion of astrocytes into functional new neurons induced by neural transcription factors has been recognized as a potential new therapeutic intervention for neural injury and degenerative disorders. However, a few recent studies have claimed that neural transcription factors cannot convert astrocytes into neurons, attributing the converted neurons to pre-existing neurons mis-expressing transgenes. In this study, we overexpressed three distinct neural transcription factors––NeuroD1, Ascl1, and Dlx2––in reactive astrocytes in mouse cortices subjected to stab injury, resulting in a series of significant changes in astrocyte properties. Initially, the three neural transcription factors were exclusively expressed in the nuclei of astrocytes. Over time, however, these astrocytes gradually adopted neuronal morphology, and the neural transcription factors was gradually observed in the nuclei of neuron-like cells instead of astrocytes. Furthermore,we noted that transcription factor-infected astrocytes showed a progressive decrease in the expression of astrocytic markers AQP4(astrocyte endfeet signal), CX43(gap junction signal), and S100β. Importantly, none of these changes could be attributed to transgene leakage into preexisting neurons. Therefore, our findings suggest that neural transcription factors such as NeuroD1, Ascl1, and Dlx2 can effectively convert reactive astrocytes into neurons in the adult mammalian brain.
