One-step plasmonic welding and photolithographic patterning of silver nanowire network by UV-programable surface atom diffusion

Silver nanowire(AgNW)based transparent electrode(TE)plays a pivotal role in optoelectronics where TE is generally required to have fine pattern and high performance.Despite the rapid technological advances in either welding or patterning of AgNWs,there are few studies that combine the two processes in a simple and practical manner.Here,aiming to fabricate high-performance patterned AgNW TE,we develop a simplified photolithography that enables both plasmonic nanowelding with low-level UV exposure(20 mW/cm^(2))and high-resolution micropatterning without photoresist and etching process by conjugating AgNW with diphenyliodonium nitrate(DPIN)and UV-curable cellulose.The cellulose as a binder can effectively enhance plasmonic heating,adhesion,and stability,while the photosensitive DPIN,capable of modulating surface atom diffusion,can boost the plasmonic welding at AgNW junction and induce patterning in AgNW network with Plateau-Rayleigh instability.The fabricated AgNW TE has high figure of merit of up to 1,000(3.7Ω/sq at 90%transmittance)and minimal pattern size down to 3µm,along with superior robustness.Finally,a flexible smart window with high performance is demonstrated using the patterned and welded AgNW TEs,verifying the applicability of the simplified photolithography technique to optoelectronic devices.

Patterned silver nanowire(AgNW)networks have been widely used as transparent electrodes in many optoelectrical devices.However,obvious patterning visibility and poor thermostability of AgNW are still limiting its practical application.Herein,we report self-assembled monolayer(SAM)modulated Plateau-Rayleigh instability(PRI)of AgNW,which allows invisible patterning and superior stability of the AgNW network.Two opposite effects of different SAMs on the PRI are identified:the alkanethiol SAMs activate surface atom diffusion while the mercaptobenzoheterocyclic(MBH)SAMs suppress the diffusion.The degradation temperature of the AgNWs can be therefore,for the first time,tuned in the range of 193-381℃,so that the AgNW network can be patterned via PRI with a tiny optical difference between the insulative and conductive regions,i.e.,patterning invisible.Besides,the MBH SAMs provide AgNW with excellent durability under thermal annealing and oxidation,which enhances the maximum heating temperature of the AgNW transparent heater by over 120℃.Beyond the micro-patterning,we consider that the developed SAM strategy can be extended to other metal nanowires for stability improvement and has huge potential in nanoengineering of one-dimensional metal materials.

Thermal analysis plays a key role in the online inspection of molten iron quality.Different solidification process of molten iron can be reflected by thermal analysis curves,and silicon is one of important elements affecting the solidification of molten iron.In this study,FeSi75 was added in one chamber of the dual-chamber sample cup,and the influences of FeSi75 additive on the characteristic values of thermal analysis curves and vermiculating rate were investigated.The results show that with the increase of FeSi75,the start temperature of austenite formation TALfirstly decreases and then increases,but the start temperature of eutectic growth TSEF,the lowest eutectic temperature TEU,temperature at maximum eutectic reaction rate TEM,and highest eutectic temperature TERkeep always an increase.The temperature at final solidification point TEShas little change.The FeSi75 additive has different influences on the vermiculating rate of molten iron with different vermiculation,and the vermiculating rate increases for lower vermiculation molten iron while decreases for higher one.According to the thermal analysis curves obtained by a dual-chamber sample cup with 0.30wt.%FeSi75 additive in one chamber,the vermiculating rate of molten iron can be evaluated by comparing the characteristic values of these curves.The time differenceΔtERcorresponding to the highest eutectic temperature TERhas a closer relationship with the vermiculating rate,and a parabolic regression curve between the time differenceΔtERand vermiculating rateηhas been obtained within the range of 65%to 95%,which is suitable for the qualified melt.

Herein we propose a novel strategy to enhance surface plasmon resonance(SPR)by introducing a photonic cavity into a total-internal-reflection architecture.The photonic cavity,which is comprised of a highly reflective photonic crystal(PC),defect layers,and a gold(Au)film,enables Fabry–Perot(FP)resonances in the defect layers and therefore narrows the SPR resonance width in the metallic surface as well as increases the electric field intensity and penetration depth in the evanescent region.The fabricated sensor exhibits a 5.7-fold increase in the figure of merit and a higher linear coefficient as compared with the conventional Au-SPR sensor.The demonstrated PC/FP cavity/metal structure presents a new design philosophy for SPR performance enhancement.

BACKGROUND Over the years,programmed cell death-1(PD-1)inhibitors have been routinely used for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)treatment and yielded improved survival outcomes.Nonetheless,significant heterogeneity surrounds the outcomes of most studies.Therefore,it is critical to search for biomarkers that predict the efficacy of PD-1 inhibitors in patients with HCC.AIM To investigate the role of the C-reactive protein to albumin ratio(CAR)in evaluating the efficacy of PD-1 inhibitors for HCC.METHODS The clinical data of 160 patients with HCC treated with PD-1 inhibitors from January 2018 to November 2022 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS The optimal cut-off value for CAR based on progression-free survival(PFS)was determined to be 1.20 using x-tile software.Cox proportional risk model was used to determine the factors affecting prognosis.Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status[hazard ratio(HR)=1.754,95%confidence interval(95%CI)=1.045-2.944,P=0.033],CAR(HR=2.118,95%CI=1.057-4.243,P=0.034)and tumor number(HR=2.932,95%CI=1.246-6.897,P=0.014)were independent prognostic factors for overall survival.CAR(HR=2.730,95%CI=1.502-4.961,P=0.001),tumor number(HR=1.584,95%CI=1.003-2.500,P=0.048)and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(HR=1.120,95%CI=1.022-1.228,P=0.015)were independent prognostic factors for PFS.Two nomograms were constructed based on independent prognostic factors.The C-index index and calibration plots confirmed that the nomogram is a reliable risk prediction tool.The ROC curve and decision curve analysis confirmed that the nomogram has a good predictive effect as well as a net clinical benefit.CONCLUSION Overall,we reveal that the CAR is a potential predictor of short-and long-term prognosis in patients with HCC treated with PD-1 inhibitors.If further verified,CAR-based nomogram may increase the number of markers that predict individualized prognosis.

With the rapid development of science and technology,cell-free DNA(cfDNA)is rapidly becoming an important biomarker for tumor diagnosis,monitoring and prognosis,and this cfDNA-based liquid biopsy technology has great potential to become an important part of precision medicine.cfDNA is the total amount of free DNA in the systemic circulation,including DNA fragments derived from tumor cells and all other somatic cells.Tumor cells release fragments of DNA into the bloodstream,and this source of cfDNA is called circulating tumor DNA(ctDNA).cfDNA detection has become a major focus in the field of tumor research in recent years,which provides a new opportunity for non-invasive diagnosis and prognosis of cancer.In this paper,we discuss the limitations of the study on the origin and dynamics analysis of ctDNA,and how to solve these problems in the future.Although the future faces major challenges,it also con-tains great potential.

Pheromone receptors(PRs)are key proteins in the molecular mechanism of pheromone recognition,and exploring the functional differentiation of PRs between closely related species helps to understand the evolution of moth mating systems.Pheromone components of the agricultural pest Mythimna loreyi have turned into(Z)-9-tetradecen-1-yl acetate(Z9-14:OAc),(Z)-7-dodecen-1-yl acetate(Z7-12:OAc),and(Z)-11-hexadecen-1-yl acetate,while the composition differs from that of M.separata in the genus Mythimna.To understand the molecular mechanism of pheromone recognition,we sequenced and analyzed antennal transcriptomes to identify 62 odorant receptor(OR)genes.The expression levels of all putative ORs were analyzed using differentially expressed gene analysis.Six candidate PRs were quantified and functionally characterized in the Xenopus oocytes system.MlorPR6 and MlorPR3 were determined to be the receptors of major and minor components Z9-14:OAc and Z7-12:OAc.MlorPR1 and female antennae(FA)-biased MlorPR5 both possessed the ability to detect pheromones of sympatric species,including(Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadien-1-ol,(Z)-9-tetradecen-1-ol,and(Z)-9-tetradecenal.Based on the comparison of PR functions between M.loreyi and M.separata,we analyzed the differentiation of pheromone recognition mechanisms during the evolution of the mating systems of 2 Mythimna species.

AIM:To investigate the effect of detachment of esophageal cancer cells from extracellular matrix on the localization of death receptor 5(DR5) and apoptosis.METHODS:Anchorage-dependent EC9706 cells of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were pretreated or not treated with brefeldin A.Detached cells were harvested by ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid digestion.Expression and localization of DR5 in these cells were determined by immunocytochemical and immunofluorescence assays,as well as flow cytometry analysis.Apoptosis of EC9706 cells was detected by flow cytometry after stained with fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled annexin V/propidium iodide.Activation of caspase 8 was detected by Western blot analysis.RESULTS:Immunocytochemical assay indicated that DR5 was predominantly perinuclear in adherent cells but was mainly localized in cell membrane in detached cells.In addition,immunofluorescence assay also confirmed the above-mentioned results,and further demonstrated that DR5 was present in the form of coarse granules in detached cells,but in the form of fine granules in adherent cells.Cytometry analysis revealed higher levels of DR5 expression on the surfaces of brefeldin-A-untreated cells than on the surfaces of brefeldin-A-treated cells,but brefeldin A treatment did not affect the total DR5 expression levels.Moreover,nocodazole did not influence the extracelluar DR5 expression levels in EC9706 cells.Apoptosis assay revealed that detached cells were more sensitive to DR5 antibody-induced apoptosis than adherent cells.Western blotting showed that caspase 8 was activated in temporarily detached cells 4 h earlier than in adherent cells.CONCLUSION:Progress from adhesion to detachment of EC9706 cells causes DR5 relocalization,and promotes cytoplasmic translocation of DR5 to cell surfaces via a Golgi-dependent pathway.Moreover,it might also result in DR5 aggregation to render apoptosis of detached cells.

BACKGROUND Frailty is a common condition in elderly patients who receive percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).However,how frailty affects clinical outcomes in this group is unclear.AIM To assess the link between frailty and the outcomes,such as in-hospital complic-ations,post-procedural complications,and mortality,in elderly patients post-PCI.METHODS The PubMed/MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,and Web of Science databases were screened for publications up to August 2023.The primary outcomes assessed were in-hospital and all-cause mortality,major adverse cardiovascular events(MACEs),and major bleeding.The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used for quality assessment.RESULTS Twenty-one studies with 739693 elderly patients undergoing PCI were included.Frailty was consistently associated with adverse outcomes.Frail patients had significantly higher risks of in-hospital mortality[risk ratio:3.45,95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.90-6.25],all-cause mortality[hazard ratio(HR):2.08,95%CI:1.78-2.43],MACEs(HR:2.92,95%CI:1.85-4.60),and major bleeding(HR:4.60,95%CI:2.89-7.32)compared to non-frail patients.CONCLUSION Frailty is a pivotal determinant in the prediction of risk of mortality,development of MACEs,and major bleeding in elderly individuals undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
