Contact angle and stability of interfacial nanobubble supported by gas monolayer

Since solid-liquid interfacial nanobubbles(InBs)were first imaged,their long-term stability and large contact angle have been perplexing *** study aimed to investigate the influence of internal gas density and external gas monolayers on the contact angle and stability of InB using molecular dynamics ***,the contact angle of a water droplet was simulated at different nitrogen *** results showed that the contact angle increased sharply with an increase in nitrogen density,which was mainly caused by the decrease in solid-gas interfacial ***,when the nitrogen density reached 2.57 nm^(-3),an intervening gas monolayer(GML)was formed between the solid and *** the formation of GML,the contact angle slightly increased with increasing gas *** contact angle increased to 180°when the nitrogen density reached 11.38 nm^(-3),indicating that InBs transformed into a gas layer when they were too *** substrates with different hydrophobicities,the contact angle after the formation of GML was always larger than 140°and it was weakly correlated with substrate *** increase in contact angle with gas density represents the evolution of contact angle from macro-to nano-bubble,while the formation of GML may correspond to stable *** potential of mean force curves demonstrated that the substrate with GML could attract gas molecules from a longer distance without the existence of a potential barrier compared with the bare substrate,indicating the potential of GML to act as a gas-collecting *** research indicated that GML can function as a channel to transport gas molecules to InBs,which favors stability of *** research may shed new light on the mechanisms underlying abnormal contact angle and long-term stability of InBs.

Stakeholder Theory, Public Engagement, and Epistemic Injustice: The Case of Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy in Scotland's African, Caribbean, and Black Communities

The adoption of a stakeholder approach to public engagement within the public sector has been extensive. However, there remain critical gaps in the understanding of stakeholder participation arising from hidden disparities that contribute to unequal access to communication channels, information, and hence ultimately knowledge and decision making. The term "epistemic injustice" has been used to describe such inequality of access and consequently, the outcome that ensues. Epistemic injustice is much overlooked in stakeholder theory. This article shows how epistemic injustice can act as a barrier to effective stakeholder engagement and hence to successful public policy formulation and implementation. We use the case of vaccine hesitancy among Scotland's African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities to illustrate this problem of unequal participation. The study drew on primary data involving 85 participants and secondary data sources from extant literature and explored salient factors shaping barriers to vaccine uptake during the recent pandemic. The findings demonstrate how the failure to grasp epistemic injustice undermines the effectiveness of the stakeholder approach, even with the most well-intentioned efforts. We argue that epistemic injustice is a critical barrier to effective stakeholder approaches.

Pheromone receptors(PRs)are key proteins in the molecular mechanism of pheromone recognition,and exploring the functional differentiation of PRs between closely related species helps to understand the evolution of moth mating *** components of the agricultural pest Mythimna loreyi have turned into(Z)-9-tetradecen-1-yl acetate(Z9-14:OAc),(Z)-7-dodecen-1-yl acetate(Z7-12:OAc),and(Z)-11-hexadecen-1-yl acetate,while the composition differs from that of *** in the genus *** understand the molecular mechanism of pheromone recognition,we sequenced and analyzed antennal transcriptomes to identify 62 odorant receptor(OR)*** expression levels of all putative ORs were analyzed using differentially expressed gene *** candidate PRs were quantified and functionally characterized in the Xenopus oocytes ***6 and MlorPR3 were determined to be the receptors of major and minor components Z9-14:OAc and Z7-12:***1 and female antennae(FA)-biased MlorPR5 both possessed the ability to detect pheromones of sympatric species,including(Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadien-1-ol,(Z)-9-tetradecen-1-ol,and(Z)-*** on the comparison of PR functions between *** and ***,we analyzed the differentiation of pheromone recognition mechanisms during the evolution of the mating systems of 2 Mythimna species.

To reduce CO_(2) emissions in response to global climate change,shale reservoirs could be ideal candidates for long-term carbon geo-sequestration involving multi-scale transport ***,most current CO_(2) sequestration models do not adequately consider multiple transport ***,the evaluation of CO_(2) storage processes usually involves laborious and time-consuming numerical simulations unsuitable for practical prediction and *** this paper,an integrated model involving gas diffusion,adsorption,dissolution,slip flow,and Darcy flow is proposed to accurately characterize CO_(2) storage in depleted shale reservoirs,supporting the establishment of a training *** this basis,a hybrid physics-informed data-driven neural network(HPDnn)is developed as a deep learning surrogate for prediction and *** incorporating multiple sources of scientific knowledge,the HPDnn can be configured with limited simulation resources,significantly accelerating the forward and inversion ***,the HPDnn can more intelligently predict injection performance,precisely perform reservoir parameter inversion,and reasonably evaluate the CO_(2) storage capacity under complicated *** validation and test results demonstrate that the HPDnn can ensure high accuracy and strong robustness across an extensive applicability range when dealing with field data with multiple noise *** study has tremendous potential to replace traditional modeling tools for predicting and making decisions about CO_(2) storage projects in depleted shale reservoirs.

Potential Benefits of Green Tea in Prostate Cancer Prevention and Treatment: A Comprehensive Review

Prostate cancer is a prevalent and debilitating disease that necessitates effective prevention and treatment strategies. Green tea, a well-known beverage derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, contains bioactive compounds with potential health benefits, including catechins and polyphenols. This comprehensive review aims to explore the potential benefits of green tea in prostate cancer prevention and treatment by examining existing literature. Green tea possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic properties attributed to its catechins, particularly epigallocatechin gallate. Epidemiological studies have reported an inverse association between green tea consumption and prostate cancer risk, with potential protection against aggressive forms of the disease. Laboratory studies demonstrate that green tea components inhibit tumor growth, induce apoptosis, and modulate signaling pathways critical to prostate cancer development and progression. Clinical trials and human studies further support the potential benefits of green tea. Green tea consumption has been found to be associated with a reduction in prostate-specific antigen levels, tumor markers, and played a potential role in slowing disease progression. However, challenges remain, including optimal dosage determination, formulation standardization, and conducting large-scale, long-term clinical trials. The review suggests future research should focus on combinatorial approaches with conventional therapies and personalized medicine strategies to identify patient subgroups most likely to benefit from green tea interventions.

GATiT:An Intelligent Diagnosis Model Based on Graph Attention network Incorporating Text Representation in Knowledge Reasoning

The growing prevalence of knowledge reasoning using knowledge graphs(KGs)has substantially improved the accuracy and efficiency of intelligent medical ***,current models primarily integrate electronic medical records(EMRs)and KGs into the knowledge reasoning process,ignoring the differing significance of various types of knowledge in EMRs and the diverse data types present in the *** better integrate EMR text information,we propose a novel intelligent diagnostic model named the Graph ATtention network incorporating Text representation in knowledge reasoning(GATiT),which comprises text representation,subgraph construction,knowledge reasoning,and diagnostic *** the text representation process,GATiT uses a pre-trained model to obtain text representations of the EMRs and additionally enhances embeddings by including chief complaint information and numerical information in the *** the subgraph construction process,GATiT constructs text subgraphs and disease subgraphs from the KG,utilizing EMR text and the disease to be *** differentiate the varying importance of nodes within the subgraphs features such as node categories,relevance scores,and other relevant factors are introduced into the text ***-passing strategy and attention weight calculation of the graph attention network are adjusted to learn these features in the knowledge reasoning ***,in the diagnostic classification process,the interactive attention-based fusion method integrates the results of knowledge reasoning with text representations to produce the final diagnosis *** results on multi-label and single-label EMR datasets demonstrate the model’s superiority over several state-of-theart methods.
