Organochlorine contaminants, such as triclosan (TCS), are present in major water sources across the United States. These antimicrobial compounds are widely used as multipurpose ingredients in everyday consumer products. They can be ingested or absorbed through the skin and are found in human blood, breast milk, and urine samples. Studies have shown that the increased use of antimicrobial agents leads to their presence and persistence in the ecosystem, particularly in soil and watersheds. Many studies have highlighted emerging concerns associated with the overuse of TCS, including dermal irritations, a higher incidence of antibacterial-related allergies, microbial resistance, disruptions in the endocrine system, altered thyroid hormone activity, metabolism, and tumor metastasis and growth. Organochlorine contaminant exposures play a role in inflammatory responsiveness, and any unwarranted innate response could lead to adverse outcomes. The capacity of TCS and other organochlorine contaminants to induce inflammation, resulting in persistent and chronic inflammation, is linked to various pathologies, such as cardiovascular disease and several types of cancers. Chronic inflammation presents a severe consequence of exposure to these antimicrobial agents, as any changes could result in the loss of immune competence. Organochlorine contaminant levels were established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2019-2020 and have consistently increased in response to the novel coronavirus (nCoV) (COVID-19) pandemic. Our previous research examined the overuse of products containing triclosan (TCS), which led to an increase in total trihalomethane (TTHM) levels affecting the quality of our water supply. We also investigated the impact of the FDA ban that now requires pre-market approval. Two-dimensional material-based transistors are being extensively investigated for CMOS(complementary metal oxide semiconductor)technology extension;nevertheless,downscaling appears to be challenging owing to high metal-semiconductor contact ***,we propose a functional group-engineered monolayer transistor architecture that takes advantage of MXenes’natural material chemistry to offer low-resistive *** design an automated,high-throughput computational pipeline that first performs hybrid density functional theory-based calculations to find 16 sets of complementary transistor configurations by screening more than 23,000 materials from an MXene database and then conducts self-consistent quantum transport calculations to simulate their current-voltage characteristics for channel lengths ranging from 10 nm to 3 *** of these devices has been found to meet the requirements of the international roadmap for devices and systems(IRDS)for several benchmark metrics(on current,power dissipation,delay,and subthreshold swing).The proposed balanced-mode,functional-engineered MXene transistors may lead to a realistic solution for the sub-decananometer technology scaling by enabling doping-free intrinsically low contact resistance.

Glacier response patterns at the catchment scale are highly heterogeneous and defined by a complex interplay of various dynamics and surface *** studies have explained heterogeneous responses in qualitative ways but quantitative assessment is lacking yet where an intrazone homogeneous climate assumption can be ***,in the current study,the reason for heterogeneous mass balance has been explained in quantitative methods using a multiple linear regression model in the Sikkim Himalayan *** first,the topographical parameters are selected from previously published studies,then the most significant topographical and geomorphological parameters are selected with backward stepwise subset selection ***,the contributions of selected parameters are calculated by least square *** results show that,the magnitude of mass balance lies between-0.003±0.24 to-1.029±0.24 m.w.e.a^(-1) between 2000 and 2020 in the Sikkim Himalaya ***,the study shows that,out of the terminus type of the glacier,glacier area,debris cover,ice-mixed debris,slope,aspect,mean elevation,and snout elevation of the glaciers,only the terminus type and mean elevation of the glacier are significantly altering the glacier mass balance in the Sikkim Himalayan ***,the mass loss is approximately 0.40 m.w.e.a^(-1) higher in the lake-terminating glaciers compared to the land-terminating glaciers in the same elevation *** the other hand,a thousand meters mean elevation drop is associated with 0.179 m.w.e.a-1of mass loss despite the terminus type of the *** the current study,the model using the terminus type of the glaciers and the mean elevation of the glaciers explains 76% of fluctuation of mass balance in the Sikkim Himalayan region.

This case study evaluates the seasonal variability of the Pearson's linear correlation coefficient of land surface temperature(LST)with some spectral indices like NDVI,NDWI,NDBI,and NDBaI by using a series of Landsat images for 1991-92,1995-96,1999-00,2004-05,2009-10,2014-15,and *** results from the average correlation of the entire period of all-season show that the LST builds a positive correlation with NDBI(0.71)and NDBaI(0.52)while it builds a negative correlation with NDVI(-0.44).The LST-NDWI correlation is *** best correlation is noticed in the post-monsoon period,while the least correlation is observed in the winter *** study can support the environmental planning to build a sustainable city under a similar environment.

Recent literature on walking robots deals predominantly with multi-degrees-of-freedom leg mechanisms and machines capable of adopting several *** paper explores the other end of the spectrum suggesting mechanisms derived from a four bar coupler curve for a one degree of freedom walking *** of the walk indicates that body of the robot is able to move with low variation in *** best strategy for changing the gait to enable the robot to walk over obstacles and the effect of change in length of different links are explored to open up the possibility of a two degree of freedom walking robot with the capability of changing its gait,suitable as a low cost unit for several *** rugged units would permit the use of an IC engine as the primary source of power and could be of utility in installations where electronics may not be *** simple walking machines the foot of a leg is usually required to trace a D shaped curve with respect to the *** this paper we begin with a Hoecken mechanism capable of tracing such a *** foot is required to move parallel to itself and the same could be achieved using a six or eight link mechanism.A few such devices have been synthesized in this paper and their motion properties *** study also covers the possibility of providing adjustments to vary the step length and height of the foot＇s movement.

Anomaly detection(AD)is an important aspect of various domains and title insurance(TI)is no *** process automation(RPA)is taking over manual tasks in TI business processes,but it has its limitations without the support of artificial intelligence(AI)and machine learning(ML).With increasing data dimensionality and in composite population scenarios,the complexity of detecting anomalies increases and AD in automated document management systems(ADMS)is the least explored *** learning,being the fastest maturing technology can be combined along with traditional anomaly detectors to facilitate and improve the RPAs in *** present a hybrid model for AD,using autoencoders(AE)and a one-class support vector machine(OSVM).In the present study,OSVM receives input features representing real-time documents from the TI business,orchestrated and with dimensions reduced by *** results obtained from multiple experiments are comparable with traditional methods and within a business acceptable range,regarding accuracy and performance.

Land surface temperature(LST)is a significant component of the ecological health of any city and the LST is closely related to the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI).The present study evaluates the seasonal variability of the relationship of LST with NDVI by using a large dataset of Landsat sensors for different seasons from 1991-92 to ***’s correlation coefficient technique was used to obtain the LST-NDVI *** study also compares the ecological and thermal status of the city by applying the urban thermal field variance index(UTFVI).The results found that the mean LST increased *** post-monsoon season produces the best correlation(−0.59),followed by the monsoon season(−0.53),pre-monsoon season(−0.45),and winter season(−0.22).Apart from this relationship,the ecological status of the city has also been *** an equal portion of lands are under the excellent and worst categories of ecological *** study is beneficial for future ecological planning in any tropical city.

Aim： To determine the short and long-term morphological effects on sperm as induced by intra-vas alteration of pH and electrical charge. Methods： Desired biophysical influences were obtained by injection of reversible inhibition of sperm under guidance （RISUG） into the lumen of the vas deferens of human subjects and the monkey. RISUG is a polyelectrolyte hydrogel complex of styrene maleic anhydride （SMA） and dimethyl sulfoxide （DMSO） which generates an electrostatic charge and also lowers in a near space of pH domain. The morphology of sperm was examined by light microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Human study enabled semen collection by masturbation as early as 3 h after injection and studies extended up to 6 months, in the monkey, on vas excision after RISUG implantation, sperm characteristics were examined in serial sections. Results： Semenology in clinical studies and histological data of the monkey showed a time-sequenced sperm plasma membrane, tail mitochondria and nuclear decondensation alterations in sperm structural components, which beared marked similarity to changes in the sperm head and tail during capacitation and entry into the ovum. Conclusion： The findings provide a means of causing such changes in the sperm that inhibit the fertilizing ability before the nucleus is affected. Therefore achieving non-obstructive vas-based contraception, without genotoxic or teratogenic effects caused by infertile sperm passing into the semen, is feasible.

This paper considers the problem of simulating the humidity distributions of a grain storage system. The distributions are described by partial differential equations(PDE). It is quite difficult to obtain the humidity profiles from the PDE model. Hence, a discretization method is applied to obtain an equivalent ordinary differential equation model. However, after applying the discretization technique, the cost of solving the system increases as the size increases to a few thousands. It may be noted that after discretization,the degree of freedom of the system remain the same while the order increases. The large dynamic model is reduced using a proper orthogonal decomposition based technique and an equivalent model but of much reduced size is obtained. A controller based on optimal control theory is designed to obtain an input such that the output humidity reaches a desired profile and also its stability is *** results are presented to show the validity of the reduced model and possible further extensions are identified.
