Application of Complementary Error Function to the Transition Zone of Myopic Ablation Shapes in Refractive Surgery

In refractive surgery, the cubic spline fit for the transition zone breaks down for myopia and myopic meridians in mixed astigmatism as in many cases the cubic spline function runs into negative values. In this paper, the complementary error function is proposed instead of the cubic spline function as the transition zone function, due to the availability of analytical expression of its derivatives and the nonnegativity fact. It is shown that with the use of the complementary error function, transition zones for all refractive types work correctly.

Laser vision correction is a rapidly growing field for correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness as well as astigmatism with dominating laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) procedures. While the technique works well for correcting spherocylindrical aberrations, it does not fully correct high order aberrations (HOAs), in particular spherical aberration (SA), due to unexpected induction of HOAs post-surgery. Corneal epithelial remodeling was proposed as one source to account for such HOA induction process. This work proposes a dual-scale linear filtering kernel to model such a process. Several retrospective clinical data sets were used as training data sets to construct the model, with a downhill simplex algorithm to optimize the two free parameters of the kernel. The performance of the optimized kernel was testedon new clinical data sets that were not previously used for the optimization.

The counterion-mediated hydrogen bonding(CMHB)is related to the hydrogen bonding between bound counterions and polyelectrolyte chains in polyelectrolyte systems,where the counterions can both electrostatically bind to the charged groups of polyelectrolyte chains and act as hydrogen bond donors or acceptors to form hydrogen bonds with the hydrogen bond sites associated with polyelectrolyte chains simultaneously.A large number of literatures illustrate that strong polyelectrolytes(SPs)are insensitive to pH,which severely limmits the applications of SPs as smart ***,our studies have demonstrated that the CMHB makes SPs *** perspective discusses the mechanism of pH responsiveness of SPs and the pH-tunable properties of SPs,based on the pH-controlled CMHB *** future research directions on the pH responsiveness of SPs are also discussed *** is anticipated that the study of the pH responsiveness of SPs not only will provide a new understanding of the fundamental properties of SPs,but also will greatly expand the applications of SPs in the field of smart materials.

Slickwater fracturing fluids are widely used in the development of unconventional oil and gas resources due to the advantages of low cost,low formation damage and high drag reduction ***,their performance is severely affected at high *** reducing agent is the key to determine the drag reducing performance of *** this work,in order to further improve the temperature resistance of slickwater,a temperature-resistant polymeric drag reducing agent(PDRA)was synthesized and used as the basis for preparing the temperature-resistant *** slickwater system was prepared with the compositions of 0.2 wt%PDRA,0.05 wt%drainage aid nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether phosphate(NPEP)and 0.5 wt%anti-expansion agent polyepichlorohydrindimethylamine(PDM).The drag reduction ability,rheology properties,temperature and shear resistance ability,and core damage property of slickwater were systematically studied and *** contrast to on-site drag reducing agent(DRA)and HPAM,the temperature-resistant slickwater demonstrates enhanced drag reduction efficacy at 90℃,exhibiting superior temperature and shear resistance ***,the drag reduction retention rate for the slickwater achieved an impressive 90.52%after a 30-min shearing ***,the core damage is only 5.53%.We expect that this study can broaden the application of slickwater in high-temperature reservoirs and provide a theoretical basis for field applications.

Based on the wave attack task planning method in static complex environment and the rolling optimization framework, an online task planning method in dynamic complex environment based on rolling optimization is proposed. In the process of online task planning in dynamic complex environment,online task planning is based on event triggering including target information update event, new target addition event, target failure event, weapon failure event, etc., and the methods include defense area reanalysis, parameter space update, and mission re-planning. Simulation is conducted for different events and the result shows that the index value of the attack scenario after re-planning is better than that before re-planning and according to the probability distribution of statistical simulation method, the index value distribution after re-planning is obviously in the region of high index value, and the index value gap before and after re-planning is related to the degree of posture change.

Polyelectrolyte(PE)gels,distinguished by their unique stimuli-responsive swelling behavior,serve as the basis of broad applications,such as artificial muscles and drug *** this work,we present a theoretical model to analyze the electrostatics and its contribution to the swelling behavior of PE gels in salt *** minimizing the free energy of PE gels,we obtain two distinct scaling regimes for the swelling ratio at equilibrium with respect to the salt *** compare our predictions for the swelling ratio with experimental measurements,which show excellent *** addition,we employ a finite element method to assess the applicability range of our theoretical model and *** anticipate that our model will also provide valuable insights into drug adsorption and release,deformation of red blood cells,4D printing and soft robotics,where the underlying mechanism of swelling remains enigmatic.
