Multiphoton quantum states play a critical role in emerging quantum technologies and greatly improve our fundamental understanding of the quantum *** photonics is well recognized as an attractive technology offering great promise for the generation of photonic quantum states with high-brightness,tunability,stability,and ***,we demonstrate the generation of multiphoton quantum states using a single-silicon nanophotonic *** detected four-photon rate reaches 0.34 Hz even with a low-pump power of 600μ*** multiphoton quantum state is also qualified with multiphoton quantum interference,as well as quantum state *** the generated four-photon states,the quantum interference visibilities are greater than 95%,and the fidelity is 0.78±***,such a multiphoton quantum source is fully compatible with the on-chip processes of quantum manipulation,as well as quantum detection,which is helpful for the realization of large-scale quantum photonic integrated circuits(QPICs)and shows great potential for research in the area of multiphoton quantum science.

The faithful storage and coherent manipulation of quantum states with matter-systems enable the construction of large-scale quantum networks based on quantum repeater. To achieve useful communication rates, highly multimode quantum memories will be required to construct a multiplexed quantum repeater. Here, we present the first demonstration of the on-demand storage of orbital-angular-momentum states with weak coherent pulses at the single-photon-level in a rare-earth-ion doped crystal. Through the combination of this spatial degree-of-freedom with temporal and spectral degrees of freedom, we create a multiple-degree-of-freedom memory with high multimode capacity. This device can serve as a quantum mode converter with high fidelity, which is the fundamental requirements for the construction of a multiplexed quantum repeater. This device further enables essentially arbitrary spectral and temporal manipulations of spatial-qutrit-encoded photonic pulses in real-time. Therefore, the developed quantum memory can serve as a building block for scalable photonic quantum information processing architectures.

We study the instability of a ring Bose-Einstein condensate under a periodic modulation of interatomic interactions. The condensate exhibits temporal and spatial patterns induced by the parametric resonance, which can be characterized by Bogoliubov quasi-particle excitations in the Floquet basis. As the ring geometry significantly limits the number of excitable Bogoliubov modes, we are able to capture the non-linear dynamics of the condensate using a three-mode model. We further demonstrate the robustness of the temporal and spatial patterns against disorder, which are attributed to the mode-locking mechanism under the ring geometry. Our results can be observed in cold atomic systems and are also relevant to physical systems described by the non-linear Schrodinger’s equation.

Entangled quantum states in high-dimensional space show many advantages compared with entangled states in two-dimensional *** former enable quantum communication with higher channel capacity,enable more efficient quantum-information processing and are more feasible for closing the detection loophole in Bell test *** high-dimensional entangled memories is essential for long-distance communication,but its experimental realization is *** experimentally established high-dimensional entanglement in orbital angular momentum space between two atomic ensembles separated by 1 *** reconstructed the density matrix for a three-dimensional entanglement and obtained an entanglement fidelity of(83.9±2.9)%.More importantly,we confirmed the successful preparation of a state entangled in more than three-dimensional space(up to seven-dimensional)using entanglement *** high-dimensional entanglement represents a significant step toward a high-capacity quantum network.

Light-carrying orbital angular momentum(OAM)has great potential in enhancing the information channel capacity in both classical and quantum optical *** distance optical communication requires the wavelengths of light are situated in the low-loss communication windows,but most quantum memories currently being developed for use in a quantum repeater work at different wavelengths,so a quantum interface to bridge the wavelength gap is *** far,such an interface for OAM-carried light has not been realized ***,we report the first experimental realization of a quantum interface for a heralded single photon carrying OAM using a nonlinear crystal in an optical *** spatial structures of input and output photons exhibit strong *** importantly,single-photon coherence is preserved during up-conversion as demonstrated.

Topological indexes in symmetry preserving dynamics

The quench dynamics of topological phases have received intensive investigations in recent years. In this work, we prove exactly that the topological invariants for both Z and Z2 indexes are independent of time in symmetry preserving dynamics. We first reach this conclusion by a direct relation between the time derivative of Berry connection and the Hamiltonian energy based on the time dependent Hellman-Feynman theorem, with which we show exactly that the topological indexes for systems without and with time reversal symmetry are unchanged during evolution. In contrast, the geometry phase without symmetry protection in a closed parameter space can change dramtically with time, as revealed from the parameterized Landau-Zener model. Then we interpret this result by showing that the time dependent wave function is essentially the eigenvector of an auxiliary Hamiltonian, which has exactly the same spectra and symmetries as the original Hamiltonian. For this reason, the adiabatic evolution between the original and auxiliary Hamiltonian will not lead to gap closing and reopening, thus the topological indexes are independent of time. This result has generality and can be applied to models with other symmetries and dimensions, and may even be applied to gapless phases. Finally, possible ways to outreach this rigorous result are discussed.

Cold atoms in cavity provides a new platform for exploring exotic many-body phases. Here we explore the dynamics of a two-component condensate coupled to a finesse cavity, in which the Raman coupling is mediated by pumping laser and cavity mode. In this model, the energy scale of cavity mode is several order of magnitude bigger than that in the condensate, thus the small fluctuations in the cavity field may have important consequence in the dynamics of condensate. Beyond the steady-state approximation, we show the cavity can play two different roles to this dynamics. In the first case, it imprints a gauge potential to the dynamics of condensate, giving rise to zero and $\pi$ Josephson dynamics. Nevertheless, in the other case, it plays the role of non-reciprocal transportation between the two hyperfine states, in which the stability of the fixed points are tuned from elliptic to stable spiral for one of the trapped phase and unstable spiral for the other trapped phase, thus the oscillating dynamics will finally ceased. The transition between these dynamics can be controlled by the parameters of the cavity field and the driving field. Our results demonstrate a novel way to engineer the dynamics of condensate by tuning the stability of the fixed points.
