Dormancy represents a fascinating adaptive strategy for organisms to survive in unforgiving *** a period of dormancy,organisms often exhibit exceptional *** period is typically divided into hibernation and aestivation based on seasonal ***,the mechanisms by which organisms adapt to their environments during dormancy,as well as the potential relationships between different states of dormancy,deserve further ***,we selected Perccottus glenii and Protopterus annectens as the primary subjects to study hibernation and aestivation,*** on histological and transcriptomic analysis of multiple organs,we discovered that dormancy involved a coordinated functional response across *** analyses revealed noteworthy disparities between the two dormant species in their responses to extreme ***,similarities in gene expression patterns pertaining to energy metabolism,neural activity,and biosynthesis were noted during hibernation,suggesting a potential correlation between hibernation and *** further explore the relationship between these two phenomena,we analyzed other dormancy-capable species using data from publicly available *** comparative analysis revealed that most orthologous genes involved in metabolism,cell proliferation,and neural function exhibited consistent expression patterns during dormancy,indicating that the observed similarity between hibernation and aestivation may be attributable to convergent *** conclusion,this study enhances our comprehension of the dormancy phenomenon and offers new insights into the molecular mechanisms underpinning vertebrate dormancy.

Influence of Grain Orientation on the Corrosion Behavior of Rolled AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

The effect of the grain orientation on corrosion behavior of rolled AZ31 magnesium alloy is investigated in this study. The test samples have a similar surface roughness to the Mg alloy in practical application. The immersion test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy show that the TD-ND planes dominated by （101-0）, （1120） and （1011） oriented grains show a higher corrosion resistance compared with these of the RD-TD planes which consist mainly of （0001） oriented grains. Here, RD, ND and TD represent the rolling direction, the normal direction and the transverse direction of the alloy sheet, respectively. The surface morphologies of the alloys at various immersion stages are observed by scanning electron microscopy, and the surface topography of the alloy substitutes is also observed by laser scanning confocal microscopy. The TD-ND planes show a regular corrosion along the TD direction, but the RD-TD plane shows an irregular corrosion.

Topological insulators occupy a prominent position in the realm of condensed matter physics. Nevertheless, the presence of strong disorder has the potential to disrupt the integrity of topological states, leading to the localization of all *** study delves into the intricate interplay between topology and localization within the one-dimensional Su–Schrieffer–Heeger(SSH) model, which incorporates controllable off-diagonal quasi-periodic modulations on superconducting *** the application of external alternating current(ac) magnetic fluxes, each transmon undergoes controlled driving,enabling independent tuning of all coupling strengths. Within a framework of this model, we construct comprehensive phase diagrams delineating regions characterized by extended topologically nontrivial states, critical localization, and coexisting topological and critical localization phases. The paper also addresses the dynamics of qubit excitations, elucidating distinct quantum state transfers resulting from the intricate interplay between topology and localization. Additionally, we propose a method for detecting diverse quantum phases utilizing existing experimental setups.

BACKGROUND The controlling nutritional status(CONUT)score effectively reflects a patient’s nutritional status,which is closely related to cancer *** study invest-igated the relationship between the CONUT score and prognosis after radical surgery for colorectal cancer,and compared the predictive ability of the CONUT score with other *** To analyze the predictive performance of the CONUT score for the survival rate of colorectal cancer patients who underwent potentially curative *** This retrospective analysis included 217 patients with newly diagnosed *** CONUT score was calculated based on the serum albumin level,total lymphocyte count,and total cholesterol *** cutoff value of the CONUT score for predicting prognosis was 4 according to the Youden Index by the receiver operating characteristic *** associations between the CONUT score and the prognosis were performed using Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression *** Using the cutoff value of the CONUT score,patients were stratified into CONUT low(n=189)and CONUT high groups(n=28).The CONUT high group had worse overall survival(OS)(P=0.013)and relapse-free survival(RFS)(P=0.015).The predictive performance of CONUT was superior to the modified Glasgow prognostic score,the prognostic nutritional index,and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ***,the predictive performances of CONUT+tumor node metastasis(TNM)stage for 3-year OS[area under the receiver operating characteristics curve(AUC)=0.803]and 3-year RFS(AUC=0.752)were no less than skeletal muscle mass index(SMI)+TNM *** CONUT score was negatively correlated with SMI(P<0.01).CONCLUSION As a nutritional indicator,the CONUT score could predict long-term outcomes after radical surgery for colorectal cancer,and its predictive ability was superior to other *** correlation between the CONUT score and skeletal muscle may be one of the factors that play a predictive role.

Influence of Continuous Bending Process on Texture Evolution and Mechanical Properties of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

Mg-3Al-lZn alloy sheets have been deformed by continuous bending（CB）to investigate the effects of pro-cessing parameters（bending angle and repetitive passes）on the texture and *** samples exhibited a bimodal microstructure with abnormal growth grains in the surface region and fine grains distributed in the center after CB process followed by *** texture evolution measured by XRD indicated that the basal poles were rotated from ND toward RD,and the texture intensity decreased with the bending angle decreasing and repetitive passes *** with the as-received sample,the yield strength of CBA-120-2 sample significantly decreased from 183 to 112 MPa,and a smaller r-value and a larger n-value were *** formability of CB processed samples in annealing condition was significantly enhanced with the highest of Erichsen value of 5.4 mm,increased by about 135%.The improvement of formability was likely attributed to the weakened and RD-tilt basal texture and coarse grains in the surface part.
