Objective:Pulmonary ground glass opacity(GGO)nodules represent a significant dilemma in oncology since its diagnosis in clinical practice has increased because of growing application of low dose computed tomography and screening *** aim of this study is to analyze the clinical and pathological features,the overall survival(OS)and disease-free interval(DFI)in surgically resected solitary ground glass nodules in order to assess the surgical treatment of ***:We retrospectively analyzed 49 patients(M/F=25/24)with a mean age of 67.7(range,40-81)years who underwent lung resection for solitary GGO nodules among 570 reviewed CT of patients who were treated for lung neoplasms between 2010 and *** cohort included 22 pure GGO nodules and 27 part solid GGOs(also called mixed GGOs).Results:Median maximum diameter of GGOs,defined as the largest axial diameter of the lesion on the lung-window setting,was 17(range,5-30)*** nodules were removed by wedge resection,segmentectomy,or lobectomy in 17(35%),9(18%),and 23(47%)cases,*** diagnosis was atypical adenomatous hyperplasia(AAH),adenocarcinoma in situ(AIS),minimally invasive adenocarcinoma(MIA),invasive adenocarcinoma(IA)or multifocal adenocarcinoma(MAC)in 4(8.2%),9(18.4%),11(22.4%),22(44.9%)and 3(6.1%)cases,*** a median follow up of 47 months the OS and DFI of the entire cohort was 46.3 and 43 months,*** histotype(P=0.008),the dimension of GGO(P=0.014)and the PET-SUV max(P=0.001)were independent prognostic factors of worse ***,age,previous lung surgery,type of surgical resection and the mediastinal lymph-node evaluation did not impact on OS and *** the 22 pure GGO nodules,we found a 3-year OS and DFI of 98%and 100%respectively,significantly different from 80%and 75%respectively of part-solid GGOs(log-rank P=0.043 and P=0.011).Conclusion:Our data suggest an indolent behaviour of tumour presenting as solitary GGO nodules,especially in case of

Ischemic stroke is a secondary cause of mortality worldwide,imposing considerable medical and economic burdens on *** vesicles,serving as natural nanocarriers for drug delivery,exhibit excellent biocompatibility in vivo and have significant advantages in the management of ischemic ***,the uncertain distribution and rapid clearance of extracellular vesicles impede their delivery *** utilizing membrane decoration or by encapsulating therapeutic cargo within extracellular vesicles,their delivery efficacy may be greatly ***,previous studies have indicated that microvesicles,a subset of large-sized extracellular vesicles,can transport mitochondria to neighboring cells,thereby aiding in the restoration of mitochondrial function post-ischemic *** extracellular vesicles have also demonstrated the capability to transfer mitochondrial components,such as proteins or deoxyribonucleic acid,or their sub-components,for extracellular vesicle-based ischemic stroke *** this review,we undertake a comparative analysis of the isolation techniques employed for extracellular vesicles and present an overview of the current dominant extracellular vesicle modification *** the complex facets of treating ischemic stroke,we also delineate various extracellular vesicle modification approaches which are suited to different facets of the treatment ***,given the burgeoning interest in mitochondrial delivery,we delved into the feasibility and existing research findings on the transportation of mitochondrial fractions or intact mitochondria through small extracellular vesicles and microvesicles to offer a fresh perspective on ischemic stroke therapy.

As China opened the door to foreign investments,numerous opportunities appear for Italian companies in ***,for many enterprises,has also to face some threats,especially when dealing with human resources *** a consequence,our research is investigating this field,but contrary to mainstream international business approaches,that tend to advance ethnocentrism and concentrate on Western power-holders,we put power and politics at the centre of our *** as theoretical framework the EPG model by Perlmutter,through an empiric study we prove that a mix of ethnocentric and polycentric approach is fundamental for Italian International Ventures in Shanghai because: 1)Important features of the post-economic reforms transformation have evolved through a process of institution building,socially constructed from the bottom up by economic actors working within structures of international business.2)Despite the structure of domination on the asymmetric transnational site,knowledge,learning and institution building processes depend on the interaction between Italian companies and local *** aim of this research is to develop a conceptual framework that improves our understanding about how ventures between Chinese enterprises and Italian multinational companies（MNCs）are institutionally constructed within the wider context of the post-economic reforms.

Borderline resectable(BR)pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is currently a well-recognized entity,characterized by some specific anatomic,biological and conditional features:It includes patients with a stage of disease intermediate between the resectable and the locally advanced *** term BR identifies a tumour with an aggressive biological behaviour,on which a neoadjuvant approach instead of an upfront surgery one should be preferred,in order to obtain a radical resection(R0)and to avoid an early recurrence after *** if during the last decades several studies on this topic have been published,some aspects of BR-PDAC still represent a matter of *** aim of this review is to critically analyse the available literature on this topic,particularly focusing on:The problem of the heterogeneity of definition of BR-PDAC adopted,leading to a misinterpretation of published data;its current management(neoadjuvant vs upfront surgery);which neoadjuvant regimen should be preferably adopted;the problem of radiological restaging and the determination of resectability after neoadjuvant therapy;the post-operative outcomes after surgery;and the role and efficacy of adjuvant treatment for resected patients that already underwent neoadjuvant therapy.

Benthic diatom community response to metal contamination from an abandoned Cu mine:Case study of the Gromolo Torrent(Italy)

Environmental contamination has become a global problem of increasing intensity due to the exponential growth of industrialization. One main debated issue is the metal contamination of rivers receiving Acid Mine Drainage(AMD) from active/abandoned mines. In order to assess the quality of lotic systems, diatoms are commonly used, as their assemblage modifies on the basis of changes in environmental parameters. Benthic diatom changes were analyzed along the metal-impacted Gromolo Torrent(Liguria, NW Italy) with the aim of understanding the effects of input from the abandoned Libiola Cu mine. The results support the hypothesis that metals from AMD lead to massive changes in diatoms, resulting in low biological diversity and in a shift of dominance, passing from the genera Cymbella and Cocconeis to more tolerant and opportunistic species, such as Achnanthidium minutissimum and Fragilaria rumpens. The high concentrations of labile metals, measured through Diffusion Gradients in Thin-films(DGT) immediately downstream of the two AMD inputs in the torrent, corresponded to a sudden decrease in the presence of diatoms, indicating the possible reaching of acute toxic levels. In particular,A. minutissimum dominated the mining area and was positively correlated with Cu and Zn;whereas F. rumpens bloomed downstream of this area, where the metal content was diluted,and was positively correlated with As and Pb. Finally, an important abundance of Nitzschia palea and teratological forms of A. minutissimum and F. rumpens were observed downstream from the mine, indicating that metals may have an important impact on diatoms up to the torrent mouth.

The current study is directed to the rapidly developing field of inorganic material 3D object production at nano-/micro *** fabrication method includes laser lithography of hybrid organic-inorganic materials with subsequent heat treatment leading to a variety of crystalline phases in 3D *** this work,it was examined a series of organometallic polymer precursors with different silicon(Si)and zirconium(Zr)molar ratios,ranging from 9:1 to 5:5,prepared via sol-gel *** mixtures were examined for perspective to be used in 3D laser manufacturing by fabricating nano-and micro-feature sized *** spatial downscaling and surface morphology were evaluated depending on chemical composition and crystallographic *** appearance of a crystalline phase was proven using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis,which revealed a lower crystallization temperature for microstructures compared to bulk *** 3D objects retained a complex geometry without any distortion after heat treatment up to 1400℃.Under the proper conditions,a wide variety of crystalline phases as well as zircon(ZrSiO_(4)-a highly stable material)can be *** addition,the highest new record of achieved resolution below 60 nm has been *** proposed preparation protocol can be used to manufacture micro/nano-devices with high precision and resistance to high temperature and aggressive environment.

One-step hydrothermal synthesis of hierarchical Ag/Bi_2WO_6 composites: In situ growth monitoring and photocatalytic activity studies

Hierarchical Ag/Bi2WO6 nanomaterials were prepared by a facile one-step hydrothermal method in mixed acetic acid and ethylene glycol (EG) medium. EG is employed as mild reducing agent for the formation of metallic Ag from Ag+ precursors. In situ energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXRD) monitoring showed that the hydrothermal formation kinetics of Bi2WO6 in the presence of EG was significantly slowed down due to its very high viscosity. The photocatalytic activities of Ag/Bi2WO6 composites were evaluated by the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of Bi2WO6 is strongly influenced by the Ag loading. The enhanced catalytic activity of the composites is based on the cooperative effects of plasmon absorption band and separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs.
