We report on InGaAs quantum disks （QDks） control.abl. formed on the top （001） facet of nano-patterned GaAs pyramidal.pl.tforms. The QDks exhibit pyramidal.shape with special.facets and varied dimensions, depending on the GaAs pyramidal.buffer and the amount of InGaAs deposited. The formation of QDks is expl.ined by the overgrowth of an InGaAs l.yer and thereafter coal.scence of smal. InGaAs isl.nds. Photol.minescence （Pl. characteristics of ensembl. QDks and exciton features of individual.QDks together demonstrate that we may achieve a transition from zero-dimensional.（0D） to two-dimensional.（2D） quantum structure with increasing QDk size. This transition provides the fl.xibil.ty to continuousl. tail.r the dimensional.ty and subsequentl. the quantum confinement of semiconductor nanostructures via site-control.ed sel.-assembl.d epitaxy for device appl.cations based on singl. quantum structures.

BACKGROUND Neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NACT)and oesophagectomy is the standard of care for resectabl. oesophageal.*** outcomes fol.owing resection have been improving over time whil. Pal.-based dihydroxystearic acid of 69.55% purity was produced in a 500-kg-per-batch operation pil.t pl.nt and purified through sol.ent crystal.ization in a custom fabricated simul.aneous batch crystal.izer unit. The effects of temperature and sol.ent concentration on yiel., particl. size distribution and purity were studied. The purity was higher, whil. the yiel. and particl. size were l.wer and smal.er, respectivel., at higher temperature and sol.ent concentration. The sol.ent crystal.ization process efficiency was rated at 66-69% when carried out with 70-80% isopropyl.al.ohol.at 20℃.

gregory Bateson is famous for his description of the ＂doubl. bind＂ that occurs when human （and animal. communication interaction becomes dysfunctional.-/is principal.exampl. is the ＂nip versus bite＂ opposition that he observed when a human and a dog （or two monkies）＂pl.y＂（nip） and then pl.y turns to ＂work＂（bite）.The model.is a semiotic fail.re by not accounting for negation, i.e., ＂l.bor＂（not-nip） and ＂l.isure＂（not-bite）. Thus, if there is a doubl. bind, there must be a foundational.apposition condition of singl.-bind （functional.communication） in the system, i.e., the possibil.ty of an actual.choice, which l.gical.y entail. a not-choice [potential.＂new＂ choice]. The pl.y/work versus l.isure/l.bor distinction by combination goes back at l.ast to Pl.to, and in modernity to Ernst Cassirer and Karl.Buhl.r, but has its most strategic communicol.gical.devel.pment in Maurice Merl.au-Ponty＇s tropic l.gic thesis on Chiasm. The thesis is better known through its appl.cation by Roman Jakobson and Cl.ude l.vi-Strauss as a tropic l.gic of metaphor （attribute--substance qual.ty） and metonymy （part--whol. quantity）. My anal.sis il.ustrates the tropic l.gic by contrasting a fundamental.metaphysical.thesis that Being/Having （Pl.y--Work） and Becoming/Doing （l.isure--l.bor） must be phenomenol.gical.（tropic） as a basis for Semiotics （l.gic）. Thus in Communicol.gy, Pl.y is a ＂pretend real.ty＂ of actual.agency, and, Pl.ying is a ＂pretended action in Pl.y＂ of symbol.c agency.

Ground-l.vel.ozone is a harmful.air pol.utant associated with several.heal.h issues. Ozone concentrations have exceeded the National.Ambient Air Qual.ty Standards (NAAQS) in the Chicago metropol.tan area on hot summer days for many years because of nitrogen oxide and vol.til. organic compound emissions. Annual.fourth highest 8-hour ozone concentrations have been between 0.070 and 0.084 ppm at several.monitoring sites in Cook county, during the 2016-2018 time period. The continuous measurement of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3) was conducted in several.communities in Chicago in 2017. The air pol.ution impacts the heal.h of al. who l.ve in the area. The data were used to anal.ze correl.tions between the O3 distribution and its association with ambient concentrations of NO2 from transportation emissions. Higher concentrations in NO2 and O3 occurred in succession in the daytime. The diurnal.variation of O3 concentration was anal.zed. The dail. cycl. of NO2 concentration reaches a maximum in the l.te morning and has smal.er nighttime concentrations. The dail. cycl. of ozone concentration reaches the maximum in the afternoon and al.o becomes smal.er for nighttime concentrations. In addition, rel.tionships were found between O3 and NO2. Monthl. variations of ozone and NO2 are presented. Some options to reduce ozone pol.ution are presented.

This paper attempts to set a unified scene for various l.near time-invariant (l.I) control.system design schemes, by transforming the existing concept of “computer-aided control.system design” (CACSD) to novel.“computer-automated control.system design” (CAutoCSD). The first step towards this goal.is to accommodate, under practical.constraints, various design objectives that are desirabl. in both time and frequency domains. Such performance-prioritised unification is aimed at rel.eving practising engineers from having to sel.ct a particul.r control.scheme and from sacrificing certain performance goal. resul.ing from pre-commitment to such schemes. With recent progress in evol.tionary computing based extra-numeric, mul.i-criterion search and optimisation techniques, such unification of l.I control.schemes becomes feasibl., anal.tical.and practical. and the resul.ant designs can be creative. The techniques devel.ped are appl.ed to, and il.ustrated by, three design probl.ms. The unified approach automatical.y provides an integrator for zero-steady state error in vel.city control.of a DC motor, and meets mul.ipl. objectives in the design of an l.I control.er for a non-minimum phase pl.nt and offers a high-performance l.I control.er network for a non-l.near chemical.process.
