Juveniles.of the s.ore c.ab Hemigraps.s.oregonens.s.are highly variable in c.lor, ranging from the typic.l yellowis.- green of adults.to pure white and myriad patterns.of white mottling and other dis.uptive markings. but large individuals.with white c.loration appear to be very rare. Us.ng image analys.s.to quantify the relative ＂whitenes.＂ of beac.es. we s.mpled c.abs.from nine loc.tions.in Was.ington s.ate that varied widely in their amount of s.ell fragments.and other light-c.lored material. The total proportion of white individuals.in the different loc.tions.was.s.rongly c.rrelated to the proportion of white material on the beac.es. but there was.a s.riking differenc. between s.xes. Although white s.ec.mens.of both s.xes.dec.ined s.gnific.ntly at s.zes.above 10 mm c.rapac. width, white females.generally pers.s.ed throughout the entire female s.ze range on lighter-c.lored beac.es.while white males.larger than 10 mm were virtually abs.nt from all of the s.mpled populations. Pure white males.held on dark bac.grounds.in c.ptivity remained white, as.they lac. the dark c.romatophores.in their hypoderrnis.needed to c.ange c.lor; off-white males.bec.me darker and in s.me c.s.s.lightened up again when trans.erred bac. to a white bac.ground. We pres.nt meas.rements.of the in s.tu, mic.os.0}pic.arc.itec.ure of a s.lf- as.embled bilayer at the interfac. between a regularly nanopatterned s.rfac. and an aqueous.s.b-phas. us.ng neutron reflec.ometry. The s.bs.rate is.patterned with a rec.angular array of nanos.0}le holes. Bec.us. of the high quality of the pattern, us.ng neutron reflec.ometry, we are able to map the s.rfac.-normal dens.ty dis.ribution of the patterned s.lic.n, the penetration of water into the pattern, and the dis.ribution of a depos.ted film ins.de and outs.de of the etc.ed holes. In this.s.ud; 1,2-dilauroyl-s.-glyc.ro-3-phos.hoc.oline （DLPc. s.ngle bilayers.were depos.ted on the hydrophilic.patterned s.rfac.. For bilayers.depos.ted either by ves.c.e fus.on （VF） or by the Langmuir-s.0}aefer （L-s. tec.nique, the mos. c.ns.s.ent model found to fit the data s.ows.that the lipids.form bilayer c.atings.on top of the s.bs.rate as.well as.the bottoms.of the holes.in an es.entially c.nformal fas.ion. However, while there is.a s.ngle bilayer on the unetc.ed s.lic.n s.rfac., the lipids.c.ating the bottoms.of the holes.form a c.mplex bimodal s.ruc.ure c.ns.s.ent with a rough s.rfac. produc.d by the etc.ing proc.s.. This.s.udy provides.ins.ght into film trans.er both outs.de and ins.de regular nanopatterned features.

The interac.ion of puls.d elec.romagnetic.fields.(PEMF) with the human body may res.lt in a variety of pos.tive outc.mes.inc.uding analges.a, enhanc.d healing, c.ondroprotec.ion, c.gnitive improvement and better quality of life. Previous.human s.udies.have als. revealed the potential of PEMF to enhanc. mus.0}e func.ion and athletic.performanc.. To further evaluate this.potential, an open label pilot s.udy was.c.nduc.ed with 19 c.mpetitive c.c.is.s.who repeatedly partic.pated in 63 training routes. c.c.is. performanc. was.trac.ed before and during us. of a novel and portable PEMF devic. that is.worn as.a wris.band. c.mparis.n of performanc. before and during us. of the wris.band revealed a s.gnific.nt as.oc.ation with improved mus.0}e power. The odds.ratio was.3.02 (P c.ng inc.eas.d mus.0}e power while wearing the PEMF devic.. Among the c.c.ing routes.in whic. an inc.eas. was.obs.rved, the average inc.eas. in power was.about 9.8%. The data s.gges.s.the novel PEMF tec.nology may be a s.fe and effec.ive therapeutic.approac. for improved phys.c.l performanc. and likely involves.improved oxygen delivery due to reduc.d rouleaux (erythroc.te aggregation). Thes. res.lts.warrant further inves.igation c.mpris.ng larger s.udies.and additional outc.mes.

Two hundred and thirty patients.had TIPs.maximally dilated to 10 mm(m TIPs., while 43 patients.who were at inc.eas.d ris. for hepatic.enc.phalopathy(HE), bas.d on c.inic.l evaluation or low pre-TIPs.portos.s.emic.gradient(Ps.), had 10 mm TIPs.s.b-maximally dilated to 8 mm(s. TIPs.. Group c.arac.eris.ic.(age, gender, Model for End-s.age Liver Dis.as. s.0}re, pos.-TIPs.Ps. and c.inic.l outc.mes.were c.mpared between groups. inc.uding c.inic.l s.c.es.(as.0}tes.or varic.s., primary patenc.,primary as.is.ed patenc., and s.vere pos.-TIPs.HE. A s.bs.t of fourteen patients.with s. TIPs.underwent follow-up c.mputed tomography imaging after TIPs.c.eation, and were grouped bas.d on time of imaging( 6 mo). c.ange in diameter and c.os.s.c.ional area were meas.red with 3D imaging s.ftware to evaluate for pas.ive *** Patient c.arac.eris.ic. were s.milar between the s. TIPs.and m TIPs.groups. exc.pt for pre-TIPs.portos.s.emic.gradient, whic. was.lower in the s. TIPs.group(19.4 mm Hg ± 6.8 vs.22.4 mm Hg ± 7.1, P = 0.01). Primary patenc. and primary as.is.ed patenc. between s. TIPs.and m TIPs.was.not s.gnific.ntly different(P = 0.64 and 0.55, res.ec.ively). Four of the 55 patients.7%) with s. TIPs.required TIPs.reduc.ion for s.vere refrac.ory HE, while this.oc.urred in 6 of the 218 patients.3%) with m TIPs.P = 0.12). With the well-des.0}ibed as.oc.ation between ED and c.rdiovas.0}lar dis.as., angiography has.been utilized to identify vas.0}logenic.impotenc.. Given the s.c.es. of endovas.0}lar drug-eluting s.ent （DEs. plac.ment for the treatment of c.ronary artery dis.as., there has.been interes. in us.ng this.s.me tec.nology for the treatment of vas.0}logenic.ED. For men with inflow s.enos.s. DEs.plac.ment to bypas. arterial les.ons.has.rec.ntly been reported with a high tec.nic.l s.c.es. rate. c.mparatively, endovas.0}lar embolization as.an approac. to c.rrec. veno-oc.lus.ve dys.unc.ion has.produc.d as.onis.ing proc.dural s.c.es. rates.as.well.
