Granulosa cell tumor(GCT)is the most common sex cordstromal tumor,comprising 5%of all ovarian malignancies[1].The disease course is indolent,and the majority of cases present at stage 1.However,metastases may develop with potential sites being peritoneum,lung,brain,liver and bone[2].due to the rarity of the disease,published evidence for management of granulosa cell tumor liver metastases(GCTLM)is limited.Surgical resection is the optimal treatment in instances where there is a high chance of achieving complete resection[3].With regards to unresectable GCTLM there is a paucity of evidence to guide treatment strategy.

We report here a water-soluble metal cation sensor system based on the as-prepared or reduced form of an expanded porphyrin,texaphyrin.Upon metal complexation,a change in the redox state of the ligand occurs that is accompanied by a color change from red to green.Although long employed for synthesis in organic media,we have now found that this complexation-driven redox behavior may be used to achieve the naked eye detectable colorimetric sensing of several number of less-common metal ions in aqueous media.Exposure to In(Ⅲ),Hg(Ⅱ),Cd(Ⅱ),Mn(Ⅱ),Bi(Ⅲ),Co(Ⅱ),and Pb(Ⅱ)cations leads to a colorimetric response within 10 min.This process is selective for Hg(Ⅱ)under conditions of competitive analysis.Furthermore,among the subset of responseproducing cations,In(Ⅲ)proved unique in giving rise to a ratiometric change in the ligand-based fluorescence features,including an overall increase in intensity.The cation selectivity observed in aqueous media stands in contrast to what is seen in organic solvents,where a wide range of texaphyrin metal complexes may be prepared.The formation of metal cation complexes under the present aqueous conditions was confirmed by reversed phase highperformance liquid chromatography,ultra-violet-visible absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies,and highresolution mass spectrometry.

In this study,we employed a number of geospatial techniques to examine the spatiotemporal patterns and changes of environmental attitudes and place attachment values in the Gauteng province of South Africa.The data were obtained from the Gauteng City Region Observatory’s Quality of Life Survey collected at three separate points in time,namely 2013,2015,and 2017.Results indicated that wards(smallest administrative and analysis units)located on the urban periphery of Gauteng,which are generally less affluent,largely held more negative environmental attitudes and place attachment values during the three time periods.In contrast,centrally located wards,which are generally more affluent,expressed more positive environmental attitudes but less place attachment values,especially in 2017.The findings of this research not only highlight the complex spatio-temporal distribution of environmental attitudes and place attachment values throughout Gauteng but also empha-size the need for spatially targeted state interventions for future environmental planning within the province.

生物气中痕量有机物硅氧烷的存在严重阻碍了生物气作为绿色可再生能源的利用,吸附法是去除半挥发有机物的一种主要方法。本文介绍了吸附法去除生物气中硅氧烷的研究进展,指出吸附剂的选择、铺集硅氧烷方法、定量硅氧烷浓度等是吸附法处理的技术难点。重点分析了活性炭、硅胶、氧化铝、分子筛等吸附剂吸附去除硅氧烷研究现状;比较了撞击器、不锈钢罐、Tedlar袋等取样方法捕集硅氧烷的优缺点;通过比较GC、GC-MS、FTIR等分析测试量化硅氧烷浓度;并探讨了吸附法去除硅氧烷的吸附机理,指出加强不同吸附剂表面化学研究、研究吸附硅氧烷机理、吸附模型拟合是吸附去除硅氧烷领域的主要研究方向。

The COVId-19 pandemic severely impacted long-term care facilities resulting in the death of approximately 8%of residents nationwide as of March 2021.As COVId-19 case rates declined and state and county restrictions were lifted in spring 2021,facility managers,local and state health agencies were challenged with defining their own policies moving forward to appropriately mitigate disease transmission.The continued emergence of variants of concern and variable vaccineuptake across facilitieshighlighted the need for a readily available tool that can beemployed at the facility-level to determine best practices for mitigation and ensure resident and staff safety.To assist leadership in determining the impact of various infection surveillance and response strategies,we developed an agent-based model and an online dashboard interface that simulates COVId-19 infection within congregate care settings under various mitigation measures.This dashboard quantifies the continued risk for COVId-19 infections within a facility given a designated testing schedule and vaccine requirements.Key findings were that choice of COVId-19 diagnostic(ex.nasal swab qRT-PCR vs rapid antigen)and testing cadence has less impact on attack rate and staff workdays missed than does vaccination rates among staff and residents.Specifically,low vaccine uptake among staff at long-term care facilities puts staff and residents at risk of ongoing COVId-19 outbreaks.Here we present our model and dashboard as an exemplar of a tool for state public health officials and facility directors to gain insights from an infectious disease model that can directly inform policy decisions in the midst of a pandemic.

Approximately 30% of patients with rectal cancer present with metastatic disease. Many of these patients have symptoms of bleeding or obstruction. Several treatment options are available to deal with the various complications that may afflict these patients. Endorectal stenting, laser ablation, and operative resection are a few of the options available to the patient with a malignant large bowel obstruction. A thorough understanding of treatment options will ensure the patient is offered the most effective therapy with the least amount of associated morbidity. In this review, we describe various options for palliation of symptoms in patients with metastatic rectal cancer. Additionally, we briefly discuss treatment for asymptomatic patients with metastatic disease.

River profile analysis has been used extensively in the earth sciences. Commonly,exploration of river profiles requires downloading and processing digital Elevation Models (dEMs) for specific areas,which limits the scope of exploratory analysis. Presented here is a web application designed to analyze river profiles at 90m resolution at a near-global scale. The app allows users to quickly query downstream or upstream from selected points anywhere within ±60 degrees latitude,in order to interactively analyze corresponding river profiles. River profile analysis can be performed in both distance and χ space,where χ is a metric that is proportional to the presumed steady-state shape of the river profile. River locations are based on the HydroSHEdS 90m drainage direction grid,as well as custom computed d8 drainage direction and void-filled SRTM dEMs. RiverProfileApp is open source,and although currently it is designed as an exploratory tool,more functions can be easily added via community contributions and/or from existing toolsets. Investigation into a practical approach and application of cotton fiber elongation

Background The strength of cotton fiber has been extensively studied and significantly improved through selec-tive breeding,but fiber elongation has largely been ignored,even though elongation contributes to determining the energy needed to break fibers.Recent developments to calibrate the high volume instrument(HVI)for elongation has renewed interest in elongation.However,it is not understood how best to utilize yet another fiber property which has the potential to add to the complexity of fiber selection.To explore a practical approach to applying elongation,cot-ton samples were tested using single fiber methods,the Stelometer,and the HVI.Comparison of strength,elongation,and combined properties such as modulus were explored.Results HVI testing was shown to be sensitive enough to characterize elongation differences but unlike single fiber testing it was unable to capture within-sample variation.Fiber bundle testing,like Stelometer and HVI was shown to reduce bias due to fiber selection.Conclusion The use of secant modulus,an intrinsic material property,allowed for one value to represent both strength and elongation.Secant modulus was shown to contain more useful information than either elongation or work-to-break.Work-to-break was shown to be more influenced by a specific value of breaking force or elongation rather than the intrinsic behavior of the sample being tested.Exploring the influence of genetics and environment on elongation,and its interaction with other fiber properties,requires additional work.Secant modulus,by combining strength and elongation into one value,shows the potential to incorporate elongation values into fiber characteriza-tion without increasing the complexity of current fiber selection processes.
