a.l pla.ts including cotton host a.wide ra.ge of microorga.isms a. endophytes. There is a.growing a.precia.ion of the preva.ence, ecologica. significa.ce a.d ma.a.ement potentia. of fa.ulta.ive funga. endophytes in protecting pla.ts from pests, pa.hogens a.d environmenta. stressors. Hemiptera. sucking bugs ha.e emerged a. ma.or pests a.ross the U.S. cotton belt, reducing yields directly by feeding on developing reproductive structures a.d indirectly by vectoring pla.t pa.hogens. We used no-choice a.d simulta.eous choice a.sa.s to exa.ine the host selection beha.ior of western ta.nished pla.t bugs （Lygus hesperus） a.d southern green stink bugs （Neza.a.viridula. in response to developing flower buds a.d fruits from cotton pla.ts colonized by 1 of 2 ca.dida.e beneficia. funga. endophytes, Phia.emonium infla.um or Bea.veria.ba.sia.a. Both insect species exhibited strong nega.ive responses to flower buds （L. hesperus） a.d fruits （N. viridula. from pla.ts tha. ha. been colonized by ca.dida.e endophytic fungi rela.ive to control pla.ts under both no-choice a.d choice conditions. Beha.iora. responses of both species indica.ed tha. the insects were deterred prior to conta.t with pla.t tissues from endophyte-colonized pla.ts, suggesting a.puta.ive role for vola.ile compounds in media.ing the nega.ive response. Our results highlight the role of funga. endophytes a. pla.t mutua.ists tha. ca. ha.e positive effects on pla.t resista.ce to pests.

The mecha.isms of ma.netoreception ha.e been proposed a. the ma.netiteba.ed, the chemica. ra.ica.-pa.r a.d biocompa.s model, in which ma.netite pa.ticles, the cryptochrome (Cry) or iron-sulfur cluster a.sembly 1 (Isca.) ma. be involved. However, little is known a.out the a.socia.ion a.ong the molecules. Here we investiga.ed the molecula. cha.a.teriza.ion a.d the mRNa.expression of Isca. in different developmenta. sta.es, tissues a.d ma.netic fields in the migra.ory brown pla.thopper (BPH), Nila.a.va.a.lugens. NlIsca. conta.ns a. open rea.ing fra.e of 390 bp, encoding a.ino a.ids of 129, with the predicted molecula. weight of 14.0 kDa.a.d the isoelectric point of 9.10. Well-conserved Fe-S cluster binding sites were observed in the predicted protein. Phylogenetic a.a.ysis demonstra.ed NlIsca. to be clustered into the insect's Isca.. NlIsca. showed up-regula.ed mRNa.expression during the period of migra.ion. The mRNa.expression of NlIsca. could be detected in a.l the three tissues of hea., thora. a.d a.domen, with the highest expression level in the a.domen. For the ma.ropterous migra.ory Nila.a.va.a.lugens, mRNa.expression of NlIsca. a.d N. lugens cryptochromel (Nlcry1) were up-regula.ed under the ma.netic fields of 5 Ga.ss a.d 10 Ga.ss in strength (vs. loca. geoma.netic field), while N. lugens cryptochrome 2 (Nlcry2) rema.ned sta.le. For the bra.hyterous non-migra.ory Nila.a.va.a.lugens, no significa.t cha.ges were found in mRNa.expression of NlIsca., Nlcry1 a.d Nlcry2 a.ong different ma.netic fields. These findings prelimina.ily revea. tha. the expression of NlIsca. a.d Nlcry1 exhibited coordina.ed responses to the ma.netic field. It suggests some potentia. a.socia.ions a.ong the puta.ive ma.neto-sensitive molecules of cryptochrome a.d iron-sulfur cluster a.sembly.

磁星是一类具有强磁场和长自转周期的年轻中子星.这些天体极其致密,半径约为12 km,但质量却可达太阳的1～2倍.在已知的30颗磁星中,只有少数会偶尔产生射电辐射.磁星转动时,射电束像灯塔一样扫过天空,天文学家正是从这些规律的脉冲信号...

磁星是一类具有强磁场和长自转周期的年轻中子星.这些天体极其致密,半径约为12 km,但质量却可达太阳的1～2倍.在已知的30颗磁星中,只有少数会偶尔产生射电辐射.磁星转动时,射电束像灯塔一样扫过天空,天文学家正是从这些规律的脉冲信号中探索中子星的奥秘. 2018年末,磁星XTE J1810-197在经历了X射线爆发后再次产生射电辐射,结束了其长达十年的射电静默期.通过长时间、高频次的监测,我们在射电偏振信号中发现射电束相对于地球的倾角发生了显著变化,并且这种变化在几个月内逐渐消失[1].我们认为这种变化是由磁星的自由进动引起的,并提出了衰减的进动模型来解释这一观测现象.这一发现不仅帮助我们更深入地理解了磁星的内部结构和辐射几何,而且很可能排除了自由进动作为重复快速射电暴起源的理论模型.
