Nonlinear dynamics of the reversed shear Alfvén eigenmode in burning plasmas

In a tokamak fusion reactor operated at steady state,the equilibrium magnetic field is likely to have reversed shear in the core region,as the noninductive bootstrap current profile generally peaks *** reversed shear Alfvén eigenmode(RSAE)as a unique branch of the shear Alfvén wave in this equilibrium,can exist with a broad spectrum in wavenumber and frequency,and be resonantly driven unstable by energetic particles(EP).After briefly discussing the RSAE linear properties in burning plasma condition,we review several key topics of the nonlinear dynamics for the RSAE through both wave-EP resonance and wave-wave coupling channels,and illustrate their potentially important role in reactor-scale fusion *** means of simplified hybrid MHD-kinetic simulations,the RSAEs are shown to have typically broad phase space resonance structure with both circulating and trapped EP,as results of weak/vanishing magnetic shear and relatively low *** the route of wave-EP nonlinearity,the dominant saturation mechanism is mainly due to the transported resonant EP radially decoupling with the localized RSAE mode structure,and the resultant EP transport generally has a convective *** saturated RSAEs also undergo various nonlinear couplings with other collective *** typical routes as parametric decay and modulational instability are studied using nonlinear gyrokinetic theory,and applied to the scenario of spontaneous excitation by a finite amplitude pump *** RSAEs could naturally couple and induce the spectral energy cascade into a low frequency Alfvénic mode,which may effectively transfer the EP energy to fuel ions via collisionless landau ***,zero frequency zonal field structure could be spontaneously excited by modulation of the pump RSAE envelope,and may also lead to saturation of the pump RSAE by both scattering into stable domain and local distortion of the continuum structure.

Objectives: To compare the rate and extent of absorption of Racor® 20 mg (Rosuvastatin calcium 20 mg) tablet of laboratorios leti, S.A.V., with Crestor® 20 mg (Rosuvastatin calcium 20 mg) tablet of AstraZeneca, UK limited in healthy adult human subjects under fasting conditions. Method: This was an open label, analyst blind, balanced, randomized, two-treatment, two-period, two-sequence, single oral dose, crossover, bioequivalence study in healthy, adult, human subjects under fasting condition. Twenty-four (24) subjects were planned as per the protocol and all subjects completed both periods of the study. The concentrations of Rosuvastatin in plasma were quantitated using a validated lC-MS/MS method of analysis and plasma levels were submitted for statistical analysis. Cmax, AUC0-t, AUC0-∞, Tmax, t1/2, Kel (hrs-1), percent AUC extrapolated [100 * (AUC0-∞ - AUC0-t)/AUC0-∞] (AUC_%Extrapobs) were calculated for rosuvastatin in plasma using SAS® version 9.1.3, SAS Institute. Inc. ***. ANOVA, 90% confidence interval using Schuirmann’s two one-sided test for bioequivalence, power and ratio analysis, for lntransformed pharmacokinetic parameters Cmax, AUC0-t and AUC0-∞ were computed and reported for Rosuvastatin in plasma for BE. Results: Data showed that 90% confidence intervals for the test/reference geometric mean ratios (GMR) of Cmax (95.01 - 112.66), AUC0-t (93.38 - 111.67) and AUC0-∞ (93.65 - 111.29) were within the BE (80% - 125%) acceptance range. Conclusions: Two products formulation, reference (R) Crestor® (rosuvastatin calcium) of AstraZeneca and test (T), Racor® (rosuvastatin calcium) of laboratorios leti S.A.V., with a single dose of 20 mg, under fasting conditions were bioequivalent. No severe, serious or unexpected adverse events (AEs) were reported in this study.

Background: Skin aging is an unavoidable process aggravated by environmental agents. Among other energy devices, non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) technology is widely used for skin tightening and body contouring as it is simpler and more affordable than other technologies that also minimize pain and side-effects. However, most of the current RF devices do not provide automatic skin temperature control and it is difficult to achieve controlled, deep, and harmless thermal increase, so treatment performance and safety is dependent on the operator’s movements and expertise. Objective: To show the potential of numerical simulations for optimizing the design of monopolar and bipolar RF electrodes that are capable of providing homogeneous, deep and controlled heating. Materials and methods: In-silico models were developed and analyzed using Comsol Multiphysics software to simulate the RF effect produced in tissue by rotating monopolar and bipolar electrodes with different geometries from the Sculpt & Shape RF device (Sinclair, Spain), operating at frequencies of 0.5 and 1 MHz. Ex-vivo and in-vivo proof-of-concept tests were carried out to validate the simulations. Finally, treatments were performed on 16 subjects and a total of 78 body areas to assess the clinical results generated by the RF electrodes for skin tightening and body contouring. Results: In-silico studies emulated the superficial and deep dispersion of heat due to the release of RF energy into human skin tissue. The rotating electrodes (monopolar and bipolar) and the selected RF frequency (0.5 and 1 MHz) determined the homogeneity of the thermal distribution, the penetration depth (between 4.37 mm and 25.0 mm) and the heating dynamics (between 30 and 100 seconds to reach the target skin temperature), which were confirmed by ex-vivo and in-vivo tests. In addition, real treatments on facial and body areas using skin temperatures of between 43˚C and 44˚C showed consistent results with good clinical efficacy for

New Rotative Radiofrequency Technology: A Multicenter Retrospective Study on Efficacy and Safety

Background: Non-ablative radiofrequency (RF) technology is widely used for the treatment of signs of aging, skin laxity, localized fat and cellulite. However, many RF devices suffer from technical limitations that make the results highly dependent on the user’s experience or clinical limitations that compromise safety, efficacy and comfort. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel semi-automatic non-ablative RF device for skin tightening, body shaping and cellulite reduction. Materials and methods: A retrospective multicenter study was performed using a novel rotative RF device with temperature and impedance control (Sculpt&Shape®, Sinclair, Spain). 58 subjects underwent a minimum of 4 treatments every 1-2 weeks. A total of 120 treatments (56.7% body and 43.3% facial) and 1034 sessions were performed. Efficacy was evaluated by 3 researchers using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) and anthropometric measurements were collected. Subject and practitioner satisfaction were recorded. Safety was evaluated by analyzing the perception of pain during the treatment and the side and adverse effects immediately after treatment and over the next 48 hours. Results: Between 25% and 50% improvement was achieved according to the GAIS. Statistically significant (p l fold reduction of 5.1 mm and circumference reduction of 32.0 mm, 16.4 mm and 13.9 mm were recorded for the abdomen, legs and arms, respectively. 77.5% of subjects and 94.9% of practitioners were either satisfied or very satisfied. Minor adverse effects were found in 0.97% of the sessions. Conclusion: This novel semi-automatic rotative RF device has been found to provide treatments that are effective, safe and comfortable for both practitioners and subjects. .

Performance evaluation of lateral canopy shakers with catch frame for continuous harvesting of oranges for juice industry

Citrus is mainly oriented to fresh consumption,and harvesting is usually performed ***,the high cost of harvesting and the low availability of labour can compromise the profitability of the crop when it is destined to juice *** development of citrus mechanical harvesting for industrial processing is conditioned to reach a high fruit removal efficiency,with a reduced damage to both fruit and *** current machines available are very large,requiring extensive plantations with long rows of trees to be *** this study,two lateral canopy shakers equipped with a catch frame were evaluated to harvest independently both sides of the hedge on intensive citrus plantations with the main objective of determining their performance and *** lateral canopy shakers tested were three tractor-drawn machines,one commercial machine and two *** tested machines reached a mean value of 78%of fruit ***,the prototypes,equipped with a catch frame,were able to recover a mean value of 70%of *** the results were promising,for achieving an efficient result,the application of this harvesting technology still requires a process of improvement,and the adaptation of both the machine and the *** machines should reduce the amount of post-harvest ground fruit(5.9%-10.4%).Tree damages generated by the contact of the catch frame with the trunk and the metal rods with main branches were the most ***,it is still necessary to increase the ground speed of the machinery and improving the design of the rods,regulating the rod penetrating deep in the canopy to improve the fruit recovery and limit the damage caused to the trees.

This paper presents an experimental and analytical investigation of the influence of variables related to soil weathering on the geomechanical performance of sand-silt mixtures containing lateritic soils,*** weathered tropical soils with the influence of interparticle *** sand-silt mixtures containing different relative proportions between uniform sand and lateritic soil were produced,and geomechanical soil characterization tests were *** on the results,a transition from a primarily coarse-to a fine-grained prevailing soil structure was found to cause considerable impact on the geomechanical performance of these soils,as evidenced by design variables related to soil mineralogy and size distribution ***,fines contents of both individual soil particles and soil aggregations were found to correlate with experimental results,while the relative proportion between sesquioxides(aluminum,and iron oxides),and silica,***-silica ratios(SSR^(-1)),facilitated estimates concerning changes in geomechanical ***,the application of the sandsilt mixtures containing lateritic soil on soil walls reinforced with polymeric strips was also evaluated,further emphasizing the potential advantages of adopting variables related to soil weathering on design guidelines concerning tropical soils.
