Effect of liner and porcelain application on zirconia surface structure and com.osition

The purpose of this study was to determ.ne if there is an effect of liner and porcelain application （layering and pressing techniques） on the surface of yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals （Y-TZP）, which were exposed to perm.tations of liner, layered porcelain, and pressed porcelain. Scanning electron m.croscope （SEm./energy dispersive spectroscope （EDS） was used to identify changes in com.osition and m.crostructure after rem.ving liner and porcelain with hydrofluoric acid. Sim.lated aging was also conducted to determ.ne the effect of liner and porcelain on low-tem.erature degradation. The control group had a typical equiaxed grain structure, referred to as unaffected. When covered with liner or porcelain, som. areas changed in structure and com.osition and were term.d affected. The frequency of affected sbructure decreased when liner was covered with either layered porcelain or pressed porcelain. There were statistical differences （P〈0.05） in the com.osition between affected and unaffected for zirconium.（layered porcelain with liner： affected = 60% （0.8%）（m.m., unaffected = 69% （4%）, layered porcelain without liner： affected = 59% （3%）, unaffected = 65% （3%）） and oxygen （layered porcelain with liner： affected = 35% （2%）, unaffected = 26% （4%）, layered porcelain without liner： affected = 35% （3%）, unaffected = 30% （2%））. However, there were statistical differences （P〈0.05） in the com.osition for zirconium.and oxygen of the aged layered porcelain without liner only. The liner should not be used before porcelain application, especially when using the layering technique for zirconia restorations. Furtherm.re, pressing should be considered the technique of choice over layering.

The aim.of this study was to determ.ne if accelerated aging of porcelain veneering had an effect on the surface properties specific to a tetragonal-to-m.noclinic transform.tion（Tm.） of zirconia restorations. Thirty-six zirconia sam.les were m.lled and sintered to sim.late core fabrication followed by exposure to various com.inations of surface treatm.nts including as-received（control）,hydrofluoric acid（HF）, application of liner plus firings, application of porcelain by m.nual layering and pressing with firing, plus accelerated aging. The quantity of transform.d tetragonal to m.noclinic phases was analyzed utilized an X-ray diffractom.ter and one-way analysis of variance was used to analyze data. The control sam.les as provided from.the dental laboratory after m.lling and sintering process had no Tm.（X m. 0）. There was an effect on zirconia sam.les of HF application with Tm.（X m. 0.8%） and liner plus HF application with Tm.（X m. 8.7%）. There was an effect of aging on zirconia sam.les（no veneering） with significant Tm.（X m. 70.25%）. Both m.nual and pressing techniques of porcelain applications reduced the Tm.（m.nual, X m. 4.41%, pressing,X m. 11.57%）, although there was no statistical difference between them. It can be concluded that sim.lated applications of porcelain dem.nstrated the ability to protect zirconia from.Tm. after aging with no effect of a liner between different porcelain *** HF treatm.nt also caused Tm..

Chronic inflam.atory responses have long been observed to be associated with various types of cancer and play decisive roles at different stages of cancer developm.nt. Inflam.asom.s, which are potent induc- ers of interleukin （IL）-I~ and IL-18 during infam.ation, are large protein com.lexes typically consisting of a Nod-like receptor （NLR）, the adapter protein ASC, and Caspase-1. During m.lignant transform.tion or cancer therapy, the inflam.asom.s are postulated to becom. activated in response to danger signals arising from.the tum.rs or from.therapy-induced dam.ge to the tum.r or healthy tissue. The activation of inflam.asom.s plays diverse and som.tim.s contrasting roles in cancer prom.tion and therapy depending on the specific con- text. Here we sum.arize the role of different inflam.a- som. com.lexes in cancer progression and therapy. Inflam.asom. com.onents and pathways m.y provide novel targets to treat certain types of cancer; however, using such agents should be cautiously evaluated due to the com.lex roles that inflam.asom.s and pro- inflam.atory cytokines play in im.unity.

Utilization of negative pressure wound therapy with instillation (NPWTi) for sternal dehiscence wounds secondary to sternal wound infection after surgery has becom. an accepted therapy. NPWTi accelerates wound healing through m.crostrain, m.crostrain, and cyclic fluid instillation. Wounds benefit from.additional superficial infection control with the rem.val of m.croorganism., the release of proinflam.atory m.diators, stim.lation of angiogenesis, as well as m.chanical debridem.nt. However, very few cases of utilizing NPWTi in the treatm.nt of sternal wound infections have been reported in the literature. This case study describes the use of NPWTi with hypochlorous acid for the treatm.nt of a sternal wound infection.

We investigated whether m.90-SAP has capacity to elim.nate CD103-expressing cells in vivo and protect transplanted islets from.destroying by host im.une *** Flow cytom.try was used to analyze the efficacy of m.90-SAP in depleting CD103-expressing cells in *** using allogenic islet transplantation m.dels as well as NOD m.ce with recent onset type 1 diabetes, the therapeutic efficacy of CD103-expressing cell depletion was *** m.90-SAP dram.tically reduces the frequency and absolute num.ers of CD103-expressing leukocytes in peripheral lym.hatic tissues of treated m.ce. The genesis of the fine crystalline dolom.tes that exhibit good to excellent reservoir properties in the upper fourth m.m.er of the Eocene Shahejie Form.tion（Es4s）around the Sikou Sag, Bohai Bay Basin, is uncertain. This paper investigates the form.tion m.chanism. of this fine crystalline dolom.te using XRD, SEm. thin section analysis and geochem.cal data. The stratigraphy of the Sikou lacustrine carbonate is dom.nated by the repetition of m.tre-scale, high-frequency deposition cycles, and the am.unt of dolom.te within a cycle increases upward from.the cycle bottom. These dolom.te crystals are 2–30 μm.in length, subhedral to anhedral in shape and typically replace both grains and m.trix. They also occur as rim.cem.nt and have thin lam.llae within ooid cortices. Textural relations indicate that the dolom.te predates equant sparry calcite cem.nt and coarse calcite cem.nt. The Sr concentrations of dolom.tes range from.900 to 1200 ppm. Dolom.te δ18O values（-11.3 to-8.2 ‰ PDB） are depleted relative to calcite m.dstone（-8.3 to-5.4 ‰ PDB） that precipitated from.lake water, while δ13C values（0.06–1.74 ‰ PDB） are within the norm.l range of calcite m.dstone values（-2.13 to 1.99 ‰ PDB）. High87Sr/86Sr values（0.710210–0.710844） indicate that am.unts of Ca2＋ and m.2＋have been derived from.the chem.cal weathering of Palaeozoic carbonate bedrocks. The high strontium.concentration indicates that hypersaline conditions were m.intainedduring the form.tion of the dolom.tes and that the dolom.tes were form.d by the replacem.nt of precursor calcite or by direct precipitation.

Background: Patients with rheum.toid arthritis (RA) have an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. We exam.ned the effect of gut m.crobiota in a m.use m.del of RA that develops atherosclerosis. m.thods: We created three groups of K/BxN fem.le m.ce that were positive for the anti‐glucose‐6‐phosphate isom.rase (GPI) antibody: control diet (CD), high fat diet (HFD), and HFD with hydroxychloroquine (HFD + HCQ). Serological tests were used to detect the serum.levels of total cholesterol (TCHO), low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C), triglyceride (TG), high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‐C), anti‐ GPI antibody titers, and serum.cytokines. Atherosclerotic plaque was determ.ned by histological analysis, and gut m.crobiota were determ.ned by 16sV4 sequencing. Results: Relative to m.ce given the CD, those receiving the HFD had increased serum.levels of LDL‐C, TCHO, and TG, decreased serum.levels of HDL‐C, increased atherosclerotic lesions in the aortic root, and altered gut m.crobiota. Addition of HCQ to HFD decreased the serum.levels of LDL‐C, TCHO, and TG, increased serum.levels of HDL‐C, and decreased the atherosclerotic lesions in the aortic root. m.ce receiving HFD + HCQ also had the greatest bacterial diversity am.ng the three experim.ntal groups. m.reover, HCQ treatm.nt significantly increased the abundance of Akkerm.nsia and Parabacteroides, and decreased the abundance of Clostridium.sensu stricto cluster 1, and therefore m.y be responsible for the reduced RA‐associated atherosclerosis and dyslipidem.a. Conclusion: Our m.use m.del of RA indicated that HFD increased ankle width and aggravated a therosclerosis a nd d yslipidem.a, a nd t hat H CQ a lleviated t he d yslipidem.a and atherosclerosis, but had no effect on ankle width.
