Prophylactic PEG placement in head and neck cancer:How many feeding tubes are unused (and unnecessary)?

To study the dynamic mechanical behavior of C 60 concrete at high temperatures,impact tests under different steady-state temperature fields（ 100,200,300,400 and 500 ℃） were conducted under a variety of durations at the corresponding constant high temperature,namely 0,30,60,90 and 120 min,employing split H opkinson pressure bar（ SH PB） system. In addition,the impact tests were also conducted on the specimens cooled fromthe high temperature to the roomtemperature and the specimen under roomtemperature. Fromthe analysis,it is found that C 60 concrete has a time-dependent behavior under hightemperature environment. U nder 100,200,300,400 and 500 ℃ steady-state temperature fields respectively,as the duration at the corresponding constant high temperature increases,the dynamic compressive strength and the elastic modulus decrease but the peak strain generally ascends. After cooling to the roomtemperature,the dynamic compressive strength and the elastic modulus descend as well,but the peak strain increases first and then decreases slightly,when the duration increases. For specimens under and cooled fromthe high-temperature,as the temperature increases,the dynamic compressive strength and the peak strain raise first and then reduce gradually,and the dynamic compressive strength of specimen under high temperature is higher than that of the specimen cooled fromthe same high temperature.

A multiphase microscopic interference system is designed to measure the height of cell which is important to the research of collective cell migration in physiology and medicine. This sys- tem can quantitatively measure cell height across a living monolayer without knowing the refractive index of cells. For the interference pattern, because the phases are all wrapped between - π to π, it is necessary to get the real phase through phase unwrapping,a method to restore the wrapped phase data of the object by using numerical calculations. Three representative algorithms are selected to unwrap the interference pattern of ceils： branch-cut method, quality-guided method and network method. Although each of them can restore the phase, their performances are obviously different. We compare these methods and find that branch-cut method needs the smallest execution time and can obtain good unwrapped patterns when noises are not serious.

The human knee implant is computationally modelled in the mixed lubrication regime to investigate the tribological performance of the *** model includes the complex geometry of the implant components,unlike elliptical contact models that approximate this *** thickness and pressure results are presented for an ISO gait cycle to determine the lubrication regime present within the implant during its *** was found that it was possible for the lubrication regime to span between elastohydrodynamic,mixed and boundary lubrication depending on the operating conditions of the *** was observed that the tribological conditions present in one condyle were not necessarily representative of the *** points of contact were found within the same condyle,which cannot be computed by the elliptical contact *** model can be used to balance forces in all directions,instead of only the normal loads,as often done in elliptical contact *** work is an initial step towards understanding the role of the complex geometry in the tribological characteristics of the human knee implant when operating in physiological conditions.

In this paper, by using a simple climate model (SCM), a numerical simulationstudy has been conducted on the scientific and methodological aspects of Brazilian Proposal. Firstthe initial check of simple climate model has been done, then we do some sensitivity studies ontimeframes (attribution start and end dates, and evaluation date), and three attribution methods(marginal attribution method, proportional attribution method, and time-sliced attribution method),at last we get the main conclusions as follows: The simple climate model can represent the resultsof more complex climate model (e.g., HadCM3), and it is thus used to study the scientific andmethodological aspects of the Brazilian Proposal. Because of the limited knowledge of science anddata, although attributing a part of temperature increase to different GHG (greenhouse gas) emissionsource, there is considerable temperature increase unattributed to regional emissions. Therefore itis uncertain to make Brazilian Proposal as the method for the responsibility share of future GHGdecrease emission. The choices of different timeframes (attribution start and end dates, andevaluation date) and future emission SRES (Special Report on Emission Scenarios) make greatinfluence on the regional contributions to global climate changes, but different attribution methodshave only a little influence.

Return to sport following tibial plateau fractures: A systematic review

AIM To systemically review all studies reporting return to sport following tibial plateau fracture, in order to provide information on return rates and times to sport, and to assess variations in sporting outcome for different treatment *** A systematic search of CINAHAL, Cochrane, EMBASE, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, PEDro, Scopus, SPORTDiscus and Web of Science was performed in January 2017 using the keywords "tibial", "plateau", "fractures", "knee", "athletes", "sports", "non-operative", "conservative", "operative", "return to sport". All studies which recorded return rates and times to sport following tibial plateau fractures were included. RESULTS Twenty-seven studies were included: 1 was a randomised controlled trial, 7 were prospective cohort studies, 16 were retrospective cohort studies, 3 were case series. One study reported on the outcome of conservative management(n = 3); 27 reported on the outcome of surgical management(n = 917). Nine studies reported on Open Reduction Internal Fixation(ORIF)(n = 193), 11 on Arthroscopic-Assisted Reduction Internal Fixation(ARIF)(n = 253) and 7 on Frame-Assisted Fixation(FRAME)(n = 262). All studies recorded "return to sport"rates. Only one study recorded a "return to sport" time. The return rate to sport for the total cohort was 70%. For the conservatively-managed fractures, the return rate was 100%. For the surgically-managed fractures, the return rate was 70%. For fractures managed with ORIF, the return rate was 60%. For fractures managed with ARIF, the return rate was 83%. For fractures managed with FRAME was 52%. The return rate for ARIF was found to be significantly greater than that for ORIF(OR 3.22, 95%CI: 2.09-4.97, P < 0.001) and for FRAME(OR 4.33, 95%CI: 2.89-6.50, P < 0.001). No difference was found between the return rates for ORIF and FRAME(OR 1.35, 95%CI: 0.92-1.96, P = 0.122).
