Background:Tamoxifen is a non-steroidal oestrogen receptor *** has strong anti-estrogenic activity on oestrogen receptor 2 in the breast *** is the treatment of choice in breast cancer cases following surgery and radiotherapy,it is the most potent weapon against breast *** stages of hormone-dependent breast cancer are currently treated with ***-term tamoxifen therapy may cause hepatotoxicity which would perclude the use of *** this study was done to determine whether ginger has a role in protecting liver toxicity caused by ***:Twenty female albino rats(SD)were divided into 4 *** group formed of five rats:Group I:Serves as control group received normal rodent diet and water,GroupⅡ:Received ginger powder(200 mg/kg)dissolved in normal saline,orally daily for 6 weeks,GroupⅢ:received TAM at a dose of 20 mg/kg daily for 6 weeks orally GroupⅣ:Received TAM(20 mg/kg)then after 2 hrs they are orally given Ginger powder(200 mg/kg)daily for 6 ***:Tamoxifen 20 mg/kg/day caused hepatotoxicity in *** ginger is added to tamoxifen there is no development of hepatotoxic features like:marked sinusoidal congestion in the lobules and lab parameters showed decrease in serum AST and ALT levels when compared to tamoxifen group ***:Ginger supplementation would reduce the incidence of hepatotoxicity&related adverse drug reactions among breast cancer patient on therapy.

The yield potential of rice is seriously affected by heat stress due to climate change. Since rice is a staple food globally, it is imperative to develop heat-resistant rice varieties. Thus, a thorough understanding of the complex molecular mechanisms underlying heat tolerance and the impact of high temperatures on various critical stages of the crop is needed. Adoption of both conventional and innovative breeding strategies offers a long-term advantage over other methods, such as agronomic practices, to counter heat stress. In this review, we summarize the effects of heat stress, regulatory pathways for heat tolerance, phenotyping strategies, and various breeding methods available for developing heat-tolerant rice. We offer perspectives and knowledge to guide future research endeavors aimed at enhancing the ability of rice to withstand heat stress and ultimately benefit humanity.

Effect of age on the standardized ileal amino acid digestibility of soybean meal and canola meal in broilers

Standardized ileal digestibility coefficients (SIDc) of nitrogen (N) and amino acids (AA) in two protein sources (soybean meal [SBM] and canola meal [cM]) were investigated at six broiler ages (d 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, and 42). Two assay diets were formulated to contain either SBM (413 g/kg) or cM (553 g/kg) as the sole dietary AA source. Titanium dioxide (5 g/kg) was added as an indigestible marker. A total of 696 male broilers at 1 d old were allotted to 12 replicate cages per age group. Each assay diet was offered to birds for 4 d prior to the ileal digesta collection on d 7 (14 birds/cage), 14 (12 birds/cage), 21 (10 birds/cage), 28 (8 birds/cage), 35 (8 birds/cage) and 42 (6 birds/cage), respectively. The apparent digestibility coefficients were standardized using age-specific basal endogenous AA flows. In the SBM group, though the SIDc of N tended to be influenced (quadratic; P=0.075) by age, no linear or quadratic response of age effect was observed on the average SIDc of indispensable (IAA) and total AA (TAA). An age effect (quadratic; Pc of dispensable AA (DAA) in SBM with the highest value recorded at d 7, followed by a decrease from d 14 to 28, which increased beyond d 35. The SIDc of some individual AA (Arg, Thr, Trp, cys, Pro) were affected (Pc manner by age. In the cM, the SIDc of N, average SIDc of IAA, DAA and TAA were influenced (quadratic; Pc of N and average SIDc of DAA and TAA were higher from d 7 to 14, declined at d 21, and then increased beyond d 28. The average SIDc of IAA was low between d 7 and 28 and increased thereafter. The SIDc of individual AA were affected (linear or quadratic; Pce on the SIDc AA was variable, depending on the protein source and AA. The results demonstrate that age-specific SIDc AA data might need consideration in broiler feed formulations.

Whispering gallery mode(WGM)microlasers are highly sensitive to localized refractive index changes allowing to link their emission spectrum to various chemical,mechanical,or physical *** recently found applications in biological studies within single cells,in three-dimensional samples such as multicellular spheroids,or in ***,detailed studies of biological samples also need to account for the structural heterogeneity of tissues and live animals,therefore requiring a combination of high-resolution microscopy and laser ***,we design and construct a light sheet fluorescence microscope with a coupled spectrometer for use in microlaser studies for combined high-resolution,high-speed imaging and WGM spectral *** light sheet illumination profile and the decoupled geometry of excitation and emission hereby directly affect the lasing and sensing properties,mainly through geometric constraints and by light coupling *** demonstrate the basic working principle of microlaser spectroscopy under light sheet excitation and measure the absolute refractive index within agarose and in zebrafish tail muscle *** further analyze the light coupling conditions that lead to the occurrence of two separate oscillation *** so-called cross modes can be scanned around the entire microlaser surface,which allows to estimate a surface-averaged refractive index profile of the microlaser environment.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic disorder affecting young adults in their reproductive years. Many young women with IBD express concern about the effect their disease will have on fertility, pregnancy course and fetal development. This article presents an approach to management of IBD in the pregnant patient, including counseling and investigation, and summarizes existing data on the safety of medications used to treat IBD in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
