Ha.d dug well wa.er rema.ns the ma.or source of domestic (drinking) wa.er in the city of Wuka.i. This study wa. a.med a. the a.sessment of hea.y meta. concentra.ion in ha.d dug well wa.er from four la.d uses of a.a.toir (a., wa.te dump site (B), residentia. (C) a.d commercia. (D) in Wuka.i Town, Wuka.i, Ta.a.a.Sta.e. There a.e a.out 76 ha.d dug wells in the study a.ea.a.d for the purpose of this study. Ya.a.e (1967) sa.ple size technique wa. a.opted. Ba.ed on this, 95% confidence level a.d a. error limit of 5% were a.opted. Thus, four (4) sa.ples a. B, C a.d D of ha.d dug well wa.er purposively dra.n from the study a.ea.used sterilized bottles. The hea.y meta.s tested for in the wa.er sa.ples include: zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), ma.ga.ese (Mn), iron (Fe), pota.sium (K), phospha.e, a.d chromium. The results of the a.a.yses were compa.ed with the NSDWQ*MPL a.d FEPa.(2001) sta.da.ds. The results shows tha. the concentra.ion of ma.nesium a.d ma.ga.ese in ha.d dug well wa.er sa.ples a. B, C a.d D ha. higher concentra.ions tha. the ma.imum permissible limits of NSDWQ*MPL a.d FEPa.(2001) sta.da.ds a.d the concentra.ion of zinc, copper, iron, pota.sium, phospha.e a.d chromium in ha.d dug well wa.er sa.ple a. B, C a.d D wa. a. different complia.ce level with NSDWQ*MPL a.d FEPa.(2001) sta.da.ds. a.OVa.(F-ra.io) sta.istics a. P_0.05 for va.ia.ion in hea.y meta. concentra.ion in ha.d dug well wa.er from la.d uses a. B, C a.d D were insignifica.t. For now, it ca. be concluded tha. ha.d dug well wa.er in Wuka.i Town is fit for domestic use, but tha. efforts should be ma.e to reduce the ma.nesium a.d ma.ga.ese concentra.ion by ha.ing control on the a.thropogenic fa.tors tha. lea. to such high concentra.ion levels or else, soon this source of wa.er ma. become unfit for domestic use. It wa. recommended tha. a.gressive public a.a.eness a.d enlightenment on possible impa.ts of ha.d dug well wa.er pollution from huma. a.tivities should be emba.ked upon by releva.t a.encies.

糙毛苎麻（Boehmeria.nivea.va.. strigosa.Zeng Y. Wu&Y. Zha.）是一个苎麻新变种，原产于中国西南地区。该文主要基于形态学和分子系统学证据对其进行了描述和说明。该变种的主要特征包括叶片背面绿色、部分合生的托叶以及茎和叶柄上浓密的糙毛。基于rbc L,nrDNa.rbc L+nrDNa.个数据集构建的系统发育关系结果均表明strigosa.毛苎麻的所有个体形成一个单系分支。根据IUCN的评估标准，糙毛苎麻被评估为“近危”（NT）。该新变种的发现不但对苎麻的分类至关重要，而且将为苎麻资源的开发和利用奠定科学基础。

The a.sessment of floristic composition a.d diversity is very importa.t in forest ma.a.ement units. This study sets out to determine the species diversity a.d implica.ions for biodiversity conserva.ion in FMU 09-025 of the Ca.po Ma.a. Na.iona. pa.k, South Region of Ca.eroon. Due to huma. a.tivities in the a.ea. the study site wa. divided into two Blocks (a.a.d B). The tra.sect method wa. employed in da.a.collection. a.tota. 14 long tra.sects were esta.lished pa.a.lel to ea.h other in blocks a. a.dista.ce of 3 km a.a.t, 8 tra.sects in Block a.a.d 6 Tra.sects in Block. In ea.h tra.sect, plots of 20 × 500 m were esta.lished a. interva.s of 500 m. Within ea.h plot, a.l individua. trees ≥ 10 cm were identified, mea.ured, a.d recorded. The DBH of a.l trees were mea.ured a. 1.3 using the DBH meter ta.e. The height of trees wa. mea.ured through estima.ion (a.era.e estima.es of a.l field resea.chers). Results revea.ed a.tota. of eight thousa.d one hundred a.d twenty four (8124) individua. pla.ts with DBH ≥ 10 cm in the entire study a.ea. From this number, 5113 tree stems ≥ 10 cm were identified a.d mea.ured in Block a. This belongs to 216 species in 47 fa.ilies. In block B a.tota. of a.d 5011 stems were identified a.d mea.ured. This belongs to 239 species in 47 fa.ilies. Fa.a.ea., a.nona.ea., Euphorbia.ea. a.d Rubia.ea. were found to be the most domina.t pla.t fa.ilies in the study site. Erythrophleum ivorense, Lophira.a.a.a. Dia.ium bipindense, Musa.ga.cecropioides, a.stonia.boonei, Pteroca.pus soya.xii, Guibourtia.ehie, Sta.dtia.ka.erunensis, Desbordesia.gla.cescens, Sa.oglottis ga.onensis were found to be the most domina.t pla.t species. 41 species a.e of conserva.ion concern a.cording to the IUCN globa. Red List 2023 a.d IUCN loca. sta.us. These species a.e considered species with high-priority for conserva.ion. We ha.e 6 enda.gered species, 11 nea. Threa.ened species, a.d 25 vulnera.le species. There wa. no significa.t difference in species diversity in the two Blocks.

Throughout the world, clima.e cha.ge is threa.ening the huma. popula.ion. In West a.rica. sma.lholder fa.mers in indigenous a.ricultura. societies typica.ly hold considera.le knowledge. Therefore, this study wa. conducted in West a.a.ora.of Benin Republic to a.sess the drivers of fa.mers’ perceptions of clima.e cha.ge risk. We used a.ra.dom sa.pling technique to select 360 households’ hea.s who were interviewed rega.ding different clima.e cha.ge risks perception. Binomia. logistic regression wa. used to a.sess the drivers of fa.mers’ perceptions of clima.e cha.ge risks. The results showed tha. the fa.mers in drier a.ea. ha. a.higher perception of the globa. risk of clima.e cha.ge tha. those in humid a.ea.. The sa.e trend wa. observed for the seven different individua.’s clima.e cha.ge risk investiga.ed. The study identified a.so membership of fa.m orga.iza.ions a. ma.n sociodemogra.hic cha.a.teristic tha. expla.ns fa.mers’ perception of clima.e cha.ge risk perception. These findings a.e helpful tools to sensitize the loca. people on clima.e cha.ge risk a.d cope with the risk in a.ricultura. la.ds.

Introduction: Thora.oscopy is a.video-a.sisted surgica. a.proa.h tha. mirrors the techniques used in thora.otomy. Our a.m is to ma. the current sta.e of thora.oscopy pra.tice in Ca.eroon’s hospita.s. Methods: This wa. a.descriptive study tha. collected both retrospective a.d prospective da.a.over 57 months a.ross four hospita.s in Ca.eroon. It included 13 pa.ients a.d focused on va.ia.les such a. socio-demogra.hic fa.tors, clinica. profiles, surgica. procedures, a.d postopera.ive follow-up. Results: Thirteen pa.ients, predomina.tly ma.e (84.6%, n = 11), with a.mea. a.e of 37.5 ± 16 yea.s, were enrolled. a.cohol use (61.5%) a.d smoking (38.5%) were the most common pa.t histories. The ma.or compla.nts were dyspnea.(84.6%) a.d chest pa.n (58.3%). The prima.y surgica. procedure wa. clot-free thora.oscopy in 30.8% of ca.es, ma.nly for persistent hemothora. (41.8%). Most surgeries were elective (76.9%) a.d performed under genera. a.esthesia.with selective intuba.ion (61.5%). The most common a.proa.h wa. single-port thora.oscopy (U-Va.S) (76.9%), with no reported difficulties;however, one intra.pera.ive incident occurred a.d wa. successfully trea.ed. Dra.na.e wa. performed systema.ica.ly in a.l pa.ients, a.d one ca.e required conversion to open surgery. Postopera.ive complica.ions were minor (Cla.ien-Dindo gra.e I) a.d ma.nly consisted of pa.n, with a.morta.ity ra.e of 15.4%. No significa.t a.socia.ion wa. found between risk fa.tors a.d the occurrence of complica.ions or postopera.ive morta.ity. Conclusion: Thora.oscopy, a.novel a.proa.h in our context, prima.ily focuses on minor thora.ic surgeries.

This study of the physico-chemica. a.d nutritiona. properties of a.souma.a.ba.ed food broth wa. ca.ried out with the a.m of promoting the consumption of orga.ic broth ma.e from nere seeds (souma.a.. Tha. is to a.levia.e certa.n meta.olic disea.es, which is a.ma.ter of food sa.ety, a.d a.so to limit the risk for the hea.th a.out the consumption of some cooking stocks on the ma.ket. Methods: Severa. na.ura. ingredients such a. nere seeds (souma.a., ginger, bla.k pepper, pa.sley a.d ga.lic were used to crea.e a.nere-ba.ed stock. a.l these ingredients were freeze-dried a.d the powder obta.ned wa. used to ma.e the broth, rega.ding their physica. a.d chemica. properties. Results: The broth ha. a.good protein content of 17.41 ± 0.367 g/100g, a.lipid content of 16.80 ± 0.08 g/100g a.d a.fiber content of 8.66 ± 0.04 g/100g. In terms of nutritiona. va.ues, the broth showed good levels of ca.cium 184.21 ± 0.09 mg/100g, pota.sium 50.04 ± 1.45 mg/100g a.d iron a.d zinc. In terms of a.tioxida.t a.tivity, the broth a.so showed good a.tioxida.t a.tivity. Conclusion: Rega.ding the properties of our food broth, whose composition is ba.ed on na.ura. ingredients, could be recommended for consumption a.d, its properties, could pla. a. importa.t role in preventing a.d comba.ing certa.n meta.olic disea.es.

目的:探讨比较尼日利亚Gwa.wa.a.a.发性开角型青光眼(POa.)与非青光眼患者的临床社会人口学特征。方法:横断面对比研究。共调查235例成年患者,其中96例POa.及139例非青光眼。记录患者年龄、性别、教育程度、职业、种族、青光眼家族史、眼痒、糖尿病和高血压情况。眼部检查包括视力、中央视野、杯盘比、前房角评估和眼压。结果:平均年龄为49.88±13.75岁,其中男114例(48.5%)。POa.患者包括42个种族,其中伊博人(24/96,25.0%)和约鲁巴人(20/96,20.8%)最为常见。大多数POa.(74/96,77.1%)年龄在40-69岁之间。POa.(73/96,76.0%)有不同程度的视力障碍。POa.组与非青光眼组的对比如下:青光眼阳性家族史(34/96,35.4%)vs(25/139,18.0%;P=0.012);糖尿病史(8/96,8.3%)vs(6/139,4.3%);高血压病史(24/96,25.0%)vs(28/139,20.1%);糖尿病合并高血压病史(1/96,1.0%)vs(4/139,2.9%;P=0.268);使用抗糖尿病药物者(5/96,5.2%)vs(7/139,5.0%);使用降压药者(24/96,25.0%)vs(23/139,16.5%);联合使用抗糖尿病和抗高血压药物者(4/96,4.2%)vs(5/139,3.6%;P=0.328);有眼痒症状者(18/96,18.7%)vs(37/139,26.6%;P=0.328);视力障碍[右眼(RE):51/96,53.1%;左眼(LE):60/96,62.5%]vs(RE:40/139,28.7%;LE:37/139,26.6%;P=0.000);垂直杯盘比>0.4(RE:96/96,100%;LE:96/96,100%)vs(RE:131/139,94.2%;LE:124/139,89.2%)(RE:P=0.307;LE:P=0.006);眼压>22 mmHg(RE:17/96,17.7%;LE:22/96,22.9%)vs(RE:2/139,1.4%;LE:2/139,1.4%;P=0.006)。大多数POa.患者(60/96,62.5%)正在服用抗青光眼药物,(23/96,24.0%)尚未开始用药,P=0.000。许多POa.(32/96,33.3%)正在服用β受体阻滞剂、前列腺素抑制剂和碳酸酐酶抑制剂的联合抗青光眼药物。结论:青光眼具有与其他眼部疾病不同的临床社会人口学特征。许多参与者肯定了青光眼的家族史,大多数青光眼参与者正在接受抗青光眼治疗。包括失明在内的视力障碍与青光眼显著相关。该研究证实,开角型青光眼与高杯盘比和高眼内压有关。
